Lovely hotel - ideal base for exploring Newcastle or NorthumberlandClose House is on the western outskirts of Newcastle in a lovely peaceful situation with views over the Tyne Valley. Staff were exceptionally helpful and pleasant, room was very comfortable and well equipped but not very spacious compared with other 4* hotels I have stayed in. However this did not detract from the overall quality of the stay and I would not hesitate to stay at Close House again. It is ideally placed for exploring either rural Northumberland or the city of Newcastle.

Beautiful hotel and outlook A very customer friendly and homely hotel in a beautiful building with very tasteful modern traditional style furnishings and decor yet retaining original features. We were offered an upgrade to superior or deluxe room for a little extra and enjoyed the extra brightness and space in room 5 with views across the golf course to the countryside beyond. Only lack in the room was a small coffee table. Breakfast was nicely presented but very average buffet table.Lack of a lift could be a problem for some.

This was a really lovely hotel in a beautiful location. We couldn't have asked for more with the bedroom, decor, design and cleanliness was all 5*. The only slight glitch was that it was too hot in the room at times and there was no facility to cool this down. Overall though, a fantastic stay, superb food and very helpful and caring staff.

Very disappointed.This is an English hotel with an oppoortunity to promote the 'best of British'. German cutlery and crockery, not local produce, no assistance with luggage, lighting in bathroom, and generally, unhelpful to applying make up. My brother in law was charged for an additional bed for his 5 year old.
