Splendid AccommodationMy husband and I stayed for one night at this hotel. We stayed in Room 7 which was equipped with everything we needed - the room was very clean - the bed was very comfortable - a good ensuite with a shower that worked properly not like some that I have tried to use at other hotels. The breakfast was excellent. The hosts were very friendly and accommodating. We will definately stay at this hotel again.

First class Owners very friendly. Ideal for short weekend stay. Most comfortable bed and super breakfast. If there was to be any criticism it would be the small bath towels and limited parking.

We thought the hotel had a very friendly and relaxed atmostphere and we were made most welcome by Teresa and Jason. Our room was clean and spacious and the bed was really comfortable. We found it an easy stroll down to Torquay Harbour and were spoilt for choice for places to eat and drink.

Thank you very much for an enjoyable stay, and having a rested sleep really helped with my nerves for my interview. The room was lovely, and the owners were so polite and helpful. If i am ever in torquay again i will be back!

the room was clean and tidy, although the onsuite was a litle small , but for a one stay it was fine. the people who run the hotel were friendly and nice. the breakfast was good, although fresh produce like tomatoes, and mushrooms would have been better than tinned, but it wasnt greasy, and was served hot and fast.. all in all , very happy with the room and service..

ExcellentWe stayed at the Clifton Grove Hotel over the Easter weekend (2009) following a trip to the Isles of Scilly for a wedding. It was the perfect place to stay to break up our return trip and wish we had booked a few more nights. We had our son and 10 yr old grandson with us - and our grandson has asked that we go there again as he had such a nice time. Breakfast was excellent, plenty to eat and the sausages are 'real' sausages (one review requested they get real sausages) maybe just not the quality that some may wish for. Hotel is well situated for sight seeing and local attractions. Very friendly and welcoming host and hostess. Parking was at times tight though - but not a huge problem.

Cheap, fairly convenient and very friendlyEnjoyed our stay, shame we didn't have a chance to use the pool table (50p a go) or the bar, but didn't get home in time... Comfortable beds, decent enough ensuite (small, but how big do you need?) and really friendly owner. I'd have to agree with a previous review about the quality of the sausages, but other than them, all great!!

I couldn't get the tv to work, but owing to short stay and no real need for TV it didn't matter. (I did not ask for anything to be done about it). I only had cereal and toast for breakfast. It was all good, but no real evaluation of catering possible. A bar was available during a good part of the day.It is a small hotel and it provided all I would expect. Owner and family very helpful and friendly.I did have trouble finding it in the dark. I drove past it twice before I gave in and phoned. Then the owner was waiting on the road for my third pass round the block.

Very pleasant couple run the hotel and we were made to feel welcome. The location is good, for a walk down into the centre, and quiet (being off the main road). Slightly bemused by the use of a louvred door to the en-suite however(room 8).

Although the hotel and food were excellent and being able bodied people we would certainly recommend or book to stay there again we would not recommend to people who are unable to negoitate stairs as there is no lift.

The hotel is tucked away off the main road, so is very quiet. We were in a room at the \"top of the house\", there was no lift so wouldnt suit anyone with disabilities or difficulties in climbing stairs etc as the stairs were very steep. The welsh owner Jason and his wife Teresa were very friendly and accommodating. The hotel is towards the top end of Babbacombe Road, so its extremely hilly all around, ok if you like walking or need the exercise. The room was adequate, exactly what you expect from the B&B facilities in Torquay. The breakfast was excellent - even with black pud (midland delicacy) which you dont often find in most places. Would definitely go there again before we need our zimmer frames!

We would stay here again as the Hotel was easy to find and just a short walk away from Torquay itself along with the clean environment and friendly atmosphere not to mention the fantastic home cooking.

The quality of food was more than adequate, the welcome and service was excellent, i would certainly stay there again on my next visit to Torbay.

Excellent Hotel. Great value for money, be warned hoiwever family room is a little small. If you have energetic children there's not much room to let off steam! Proprieters, Jason and Teresa, were very, very helpful and welcoming. DVD in the lounge was a boon with two small children to etertain. Happy hour in bar 6.30 to 7.30 also an advantage. All in all a very enjoyable break and would certainly recommend and would stay again.
