This was a quick overnight stay at the end of a vacation. Found the lobby to be dark and stark. The rooms were very small but clean.

Bathroom was clean, but hardly enough room to turn around in. Rooms small, outdated furniture. Asked for a double bed room, said non available, but could locate one for an extra 40 a night. Gentlemen at registration rude. Lightning so poor one couldn't find elevator button. Room very small. Furniture night stands clear plastic cubes with orange paint on the legs, so very cheap looking. Coffee only available one morning, 6-8. One could hardly label this anything above a 2 star.

This is a party hotel. I walked into the hotel around 11pm thursday night, and it felt like i just walked into a club or something. I hung out at the bar with a few coworkers a little. The bar is bursting, although the male to female ratio is terrible. At midnight, I helped setup a room for our company meeting on the 15th floor. There was a party going on until midnight. I felt sorry for whoever had rooms around that room. Hotel is decorated in a cool hip style... But I could tell it is a old hotel, where they just painted the place to look newer. Room is ok. Restrooms are small but clean and functional. TV is old as hell. It is one of those old curved screens. lol... Hotel is in a Good location.I probably wouldn't stay at this hotel on my own dime. Just because I'm not much of a bar/club/party type of person. I would probably expect a better updated hotel for the price too.

Fantastic staff truly dedicated to outstanding customer service. [...], is the best concierge in the business--truly fantastic restuarant recommendations. Redwood Room is amazing--great bartenders. The Philipe Starck interiors are fantastic but then he had great bones to work with. Worth a visit just to take a looksie.

Upscale and great location in the city. The rooms were decorated beautifully and spacious. The bar was remarkable. We just loved our stay.

Rude doormen, horrible snooty hostess at the bar, very un-hip crowd at Redwood Room and paying guests of the hotel are not welcome in. Housekeeping disturbed us FIVE times in one day despite the do not disturb sign and walked in without knocking twice. Horrible tiny bathroom with broken fan and dirty towels. One window wouldn't open and the other took a lot of trying to pry open. Good location but you are much better off at the Sir Francis Drake or the Westin St. Francis. Both have equally central location and friendly staff, clean rooms, spacious etc. Big mistake taking a risk on this place. Morgans should be ashamed to group this with the rest of their hotels. Staff should learn to value the customer rather than acting so self righteous. The best part of this trip was checking out!

I loved being at this hotel. Every effort has been made to ensure comfort, from the bedding, to the desk, the armchair which comes with a throw, a side table, the 'huge' flat screen TV (for checking the weather, of course). The bathroom was spotless, had modern fittings, and good products (great if you've forgotten shampoos, etc.). The closet had more than enough hangars, and there was an umbrella for rainy days. During my 2.5 day stay the staff were professional with exactly the right touch of personalized attention--this included staff at the check-in desk, room service staff, the doormen and porters. The business center was accessible, and everthing worked--no slow internet connection, immediate printing facilities. The cost is pretty high, though. The hotel's wifi service was great--no slow connection here. For quick business meetings,I found ample spaces to sit--if not in the bar, then in a low-lit lounge near the elevators, or even in a seating area in the business center. The decore is contemporary and definitely not that soon-to-be-worn-at-the-edges 'euro-chic' of some upscale contemporary hotels. It would not appeal to anyone who likes floral prints, frills, matching carpet and bedspread. And it would not appeal to anyone who does not like their bar stool to light up when they sit down. It might be too 'hip' for some. On Friday and Saturday nights, the bar is pretty filled with primarily younger people, but the sound does not spill out, and the hotel is careful not to let this impact upon paying guests who have 'guest privilege' cards that move you ahead of any line up (people do line up for the bar). The restaurant is superb, but watch out for the helpings. They are HUGE. I'd stay there again.

Great location. Uncomfortable bed and small rooms. The location of the hotel was excellent. The room was very small and hard to move around in when getting ready in the morning. The windows let in all the street noise from below. The bed was very firm.

Very hip hotel. Great location. Post modern design. I got a great price through Travel Zoo. But front desk manager treated me like second class guest because of it and basically called me a liar when I asked for breakfast vouchers. Everyone else though was first class. Room a bit small, TV small, and no free internet. If price is right, I'd stay again.

The Clift Hotel is a great hotel right in the heart of San Fransisco. The rooms were very clean and the beds were very comfortable. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. I highly recommend this hotel!

I enjoyed the comfort of the bed and the great quality bed linens.

Cool boutique hotel. Avoid rooms close to the service elevator, it is very noisy and runs all night long. Hotel lobby and bar are hot spots. Close to Union square.

If you are looking for the beautiful scene, then the ClIFT Hotel is sure to please. The CLIFT hotel has a very swanky interior. The bar in the hotel attracts crowds of people lining the block each night to get in. As a guest of the hotel, we were able to skip the line and head right into the bar. On the down side, The rooms were very small and the bathroom was disgusting. Our view consisted of an air conditioner unit which was a HUGE disappointment. What we got was a horrible view of noisy air conditioner unit. Next time I stay there, I will make sure to spend the extra money for a view and some extra sq feet!

If your pocketbook can allow you to stay here, DO!!! This hotel is in a great location, the staff is very perfesional, and the decor is quite fun.

Somewhat trendy and you probably pay a bit extra for this. Room was also trendily decorated and this led to some 'dysfunction'. For example, the beside tables were orange perspex cubes, with no storage space. The Clift bar is renowned and had a great atmosphere with an 'in' crowd - was nice to be 'in' for a change!!

Trendy and upscale. The bed was a bit hard. I stayed in this hotel and stay was excellent. I was very satisfied with the facility, location and cleanliness.

The room was quite small for what we paid; especially the bathroom. The bathroom was not very clean-soap scrum looked like it was not accumulated over night. The lobby was best part of the entire hotel in term of presentation and cleanliness. Yes, it was very hip with great location, but that was all it got to offer.

Beautifully decorated. One day they forgot to clean my room and the towels could be better. I enjoyed my stay except for the housekeeping.

Everything about this hotel was elegant and chic. The ambience was wonderful, though I felt the Redroom prices were unnecessarily high.
