The room had a deck over looking lake Superior from the north shore. There were bird feeders to watch and a fat ground hog too. The free breakfast was better than expected and the eating environment very relaxing.

Location. Continental breaks fast. The room was clean, but small. The deck overlooked Lake Superior. It was right on the water. However, it was directly next to the next deck. It felt like we had to share the deck with the neighbors. The continental breakfast was skimpy. No variety from day to day.

This motel was a very pleasant stay for us. We loved sitting on the porch outside our room that overlooked Lake Superior. Yes, the room was small, but it was spotlessly clean. We were not bothered by the fact that it was right on the highway, and cars passing by at night did not bother our sleep. The continental breakfast was excellent, and the staff friendly and helpful. If you like to take hikes, this hotel is in a central location for some of the Superior Hiking Trails. You only have to drive a short distance to find a trail. The only negative we could find is that our cell phones had no reception here and we had a hard time getting our computer to work, also. The hotel staff helped us solve our computer problem and connected us with someone who was able to get us online. This was only a minor hiccup for us, however, and we will definitely stay here again when we return to the area.

We stayed at this hotel for a family wedding. Once we saw the room, and realized how loud the highway traffic was, we requested to check out and go elsewhere. The hotel said that we would still be charged for the stay. One of the ammenities of the room was a fly swatter! I would never return to this motel again, I would much rather have a longer drive for quality accomodations.

I really liked this hotel. Since the price was so low I was a little nervous, this is a moderate and small hotel but the rooms were spotless, the staff very friendly, and the views were spectacular. I would definitely stay there again.

Outstanding location on the cliffs of Lake Superior. The breakfast was basic and I would have like a little more.

Positives: great view of lake, hear the waves against the shore, clean rooms, comfotable bed, excellent continental breakfast, helpful staff.Somewhat negatives: only a few poor TV stations, no fridge, poor ice machine, balconies overlook lake but not very private, black flies plentiful in August.

My 14 year old daughter and I spent the weekend hiking on the north shore. This hotel was in a great location, with a private balcony over looking Lake Superior. The staff was very friendly, rooms were clean, and there was a very elaborate continental breakfast included. All this for about half the price of any other hotel we checked in the area. I plan to go back again this Fall!

Great location and value, great breakfast. Beds are uncomfortable, soft and lumpy. Great location near Lutsen Ski Hill, on the highway. Great breakfast and and friendly staff. Nice view of the lake. A bit noisy as it's right on the highway and the beds were soft and we both woke up with back aches. I'd stay here again!

The staff was very friendly and the room views were excellent. Very relaxing, centrally located for our travels and not too far a drive for several restaurant choices from average to moderately priced meals depending on your mood. I would definitely stay there again when up that way.

Gorgeous location and view, really nice people running it, and the resident (well behaved) dog. The interior decoration in the dining area could be changed to reflect a northern, woodsy feeling. We have stayed at the hotelbefore, when we were unable to get a shoreline cabin at a resort. We love the view, but miss the privacy and lake access a cabin would provide. The hotel is a very nice place to stay, however - really nice innkeepers and guests. It is a clean, fresh, pleasant place to stay. The view is just wonderful.

The balcony looking over the lake was amazing and the staff was very friendly. The location. No amenities within walking distance (i.e. restaurant, grocery store) you have to drive to them all. Nice little hotel. All rooms have balconies over-looking the lake that are very relaxing and it was wonderful to be able to leave the sliding glass door open and listen to the waves as we slept. The staff was extremely helpful and very friendly and the breakfast was great. The rooms were clean, typical hotel rooms (other than the wonderful balcony/view.) The only downside to this hotel is the location. It is simple to get to (right off the highway), but there is nothing within easy walking distance (i.e. groceries, restaurant, etc.) Would stay here again.

Balcony on Lake Superior which was a beautiful view. Rooms enter from outside and fine in summer. This is one of our favorite lodging places on Lake Superior. Especially for its proximity to the Lake. The common spaces are comfortable, and everything is clean.

The staff was very helpful and friendly. The room was the cleanest I've seen. I loved the view. Even though there was a good breeze from the lake, the room didn't have air conditioning, which is bad on a hot day. The hotel was a good price with a great view and friendly staff. It was very clean in both the room and in public spaces. Continental breakfast very good with lots of options. Wi-Fi internet was available, but it was very slow or not working; however, it may have been just during our stay. Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel.

View from balcony. Exit off of highway. Great view adjacent to Lake Superior - feels like you are next to an ocean in the middle of North America!

Private deck overlooks Lake superior. Only 5 working channels on TV -limited TV channels. Great place to stay and enjoy Lake Superior without breaking your budget. It's near to Grand Marais, lots of wonderful state parks and great restaurants.

Great staff, helpful, beautiful view. Close to highway. The owner, staff were very friendly and helpful. I wanted a nice quiet weekend by myself and that is exactly what I got. Beautiful Lake superior views from the balcony, a nice continental breakfast, comfortable beds. Perfect weekend. I definitely will be going back for a moms time getaway.

Decor of room was 'homey' and attractive. In the country but close to Grand Marais and several good restaurants. The continental breakfast was tasty and well presented.

The view was great and the staff friendly. Far from restaurants and things to do. The view from our balcony was great and the room was adequate. The breakfast was good with plenty of variety and the staff was very friendly. However finding restaurants to eat other meals at was a little challenging and expensive. Great for a one night stay but maybe lacking a little for a long term visit.
