The staff was friendly and the hotel was conveniently located.

I've stayed at the Clarion 4-5 times over the past year (usually just Fri. &/or Sat. nights) and I can honestly say I've never had any problems at all. It's always clean, the staff is friendly, & the rooms are nice. It can be abit noisy on the weekends (alot of people crashing from going to the clubs, like me), but overall a perfect deal for the $ and location.

My husband and I were going to stay at the Sheraton because we knew it was a very nice hotel. However, we were turned off by the fact that guests pay for parking. The Clarion seemed to be in a more convenient location. We were not disappointed. The hotel is wonderful. The roof top restaurant is excellent - both the food and the service. The view is spectacular. We ate most of our meals there during our 4-day stay. The only negative was the bathroom area was rather small, but overall the room was comfortable and clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay there again.

The staff is very friendly. The elevators are extremely slow.

My child and I took the train to Raleigh for the experience, so we didn't have a car. This made it necessary to get a hotel close to the attractions we wanted to see. The Raleigh Clarion was exactly what we were looking for. First of all, it is round making it especially fun for my child. The location was within true walking distance of the capitol, Science Museum and History Museum. And a short cab ride to several other attractions. The restaurant was on the top floor and provided a wonderful view of the city. Dinner was good and the Sunday breakfast buffet had a descent amount of variety and was well done. The rooms were clean and well apportioned. The best part of the stay, by far, was the service provided by the staff. The front desk staff was always upbeat, extremely helpful and resourceful. The waitstaff in the restaurant were friendly, attentive and they never tired of answering the many questions about what my 8-year-old saw out the window. Housekeeping personnel always smiled and spoke when we saw them in the hallways. The only thing that was irritating was the temperature of the elevators. Since they went straight to the ground level parking deck, the outside temperature went up through the shaft. Made the elevators almost refrigerator like. I cannot imagine how hot they would be during the heat of August! If there is a way to close the "gap" between the car and the building at the deck level, this might help. Either way, not in any way a deal breaker. The hotel was great and we would recommend it to anyone!

It was a non smoking hotel. The bath tub paint is pealing off. Everything was good but the bathroom tub. It was quiet and smell nice.

Interestingly designed hotel in a great location, but ownership has not spent a nickel to keep it up. Everything about the hotel is worn and stained. Went through three alarm clocks trying to find one that works and gave up. Settled for one that does not work. Very noisy at night. The walls are thin and the hotel had a lot of noisy guests. And a noisy heating unit. Aside from the location, the staff is the best thing about the hotel. They could not have tried harder to be helpful. I hope that the owners are at least spending a little money on the people they employ. This place has the potential to be a really great urban hotel, but the rooms are sorely in need of refurbishing.

The rooms were large, most part was clean, the staff was receptive responsive and friendly. The exercise room was not kept up. There were no clean towels on the rack (all were dirty), the TV was broken. One of the elevators wasn't working. There was a large bowel movement in the toilet when first checked in with one of our party. The exercise room was not kept up, the towels were dirty and the TV broken. One of the elevators was broken for a day, but the rooms were large and staff was very friendly.

i had an awesome view, however, the room smelt musty. the bed was very very uncomfortable and the bedspread smelled unclean. the bathroom was overall clean . the rug was nasty too! i didn't like the stay at all= i couldn't wait to get home to my own bed.

Location. Rude staff. I waited for 10 minutes at the front desk (only person in line) while the staff finished something else and took phone calls. Housekeeping came by 1 hour before check out and was annoyed (as judged by her nasty comments) about us not being ready yet. I'll stay at the Best Western next time. It's less attractive but they treat you better.

Newly renovated rooms were great. No warning that pool was under construction prior to our arrival with 2 kids. ran out of deck area bar for party. Room service not delivered in AM. This hotel usually is a favorite of ours. We mainly stayed here because of 2 small kids, hotel is on the water, supposed to be a fun, summer weekend. My kids raided the vending machine for breakfast then room service can about 40 minutes later with our order. It was just a mess of a weekend that we were trying to make nice for our boys who were leaving for camp for a month. Some great time they had! Will not stay at this hotel again.

The AC worked and free internet service was a plus. Bed sheets were clean. Filthy washroom, dirty carpet, smelly room. I will not recommend this hotel to anyone. The room carpet had stains and the worst part was the restroom. They toilet seat was broken. Overall it was a bad experience -- I am lucky as it was only one night.

"very short walking distance to all the gay nightlife, rooms are clean.. but the restaurant needs upgrading to match the beautiful views food is just average and the room service menu is quite lacking in options.. overall a great place to stay.. clean and non-smoking!!"

Location and view from room, easy internet connection. Noise level, bathtub needed replacement or repair. If one is looking for location in Downtown Raleigh, this hotel definitely has it. The front staff seemed courteous enough and fulfilled any requests we made. The view from our room was excellent, overlooking the state capitol. The noise level of the other guest was bad at times. This may have been due to the graduation commencements at one of the many colleges in town occurring the weekend of our stay. Also, the bathtub in the room had low water pressure and was in serious need of repair or replacement with the liner of the tub peeling off. Overall I was pleased and would consider staying here again.

"Semi-good hotel, however the hallways are either very hot during the summer or very cold in the winter. Also no security on property and too many drunks roaming the halls"

This hotel was exactly what we needed for a night away in Raleigh. The room is surprisingly large. I did not experience anything else in the hotel. I was satisfied with the room. This is exactly what I expect for a 3-star hotel. Anymore, you pay for what you get and there wasn't anything exceptional about our stay. Our room was large, it has a cool shape since the hotel is circular shaped. The town is cool and it's in a good spot to walk around downtown and take it all in.

Great location. Quality. This hotel was in a great location for our needs. There was paint/plastic peeling from the tub that took an extra scrubbing outside of the shower to get off. The second night we watched as 10-20 youths got on the elevator with alcohol in front of the front desk staff with no one stopping them. This same group had to be removed at 2 AM by the police after repeated calls to the front desk by relatives of ours who were unfortunate enough to be on an adjoining floor. At check out the front desk staff was rude and dismissive of our comments and was complaining to another staff about having no one to clean rooms that day. Definitely one of our worst hotel stays. As for the restaurant, we went up for breakfast our first morning and were taken care of by the one waitress taking care of all of the patrons. She gave us a lecture for seating ourselves when we told her we waited quite a while at the stand she then complained that that was not her fault, there was no way she could take care of everything at one time.
