The best thing about the hotel is location, given the price. You can see it from Jamaica Van Wyck (not blvd) on the E. Reading some of the comments on [other website] made me slightly nervous but it turned out to be okay. Bear in mind that there are no restaurants nearby (only fast food and dodgy chinese). The bathroom was new and very clean so a big plus there. I was with my mum so a little concerned about safety but it was fine. All in all, I got what I paid for given that it's NY.

I called the front desk to reserve a double bed room and got it. But when in evening ?And I had to accept a king size room which is the only room available at the time. I?ended up with paying $*!!! The location is convienent but too noisy!!! The traffic outside, the ambulance to Jamaica Hospital. Even worse, the doors make hugh noise being opened or locked. I was made awake several times when guests next door opened or closed the door. And sure you can hear clearly in your room when people talk in the hall.

The hotel is located near a subway and buses and all the fast food places you can imagine. There is no shortage of "urban" shopping, with tons of family owned small shops. Further down in the 160s block there is even more shopping, so just hop a bus. the hotel is not large and parking is limited to about 10 spaces on the side of the hotel, but there is on-street parking around the corner for free. Be sure to read the parking signs to know which side to park on between 8:30 and 10 a.m. on Tuesday through Friday because of street cleaning. The weekends are no problem. Be sure to visit the Jamaica Fish Market down the street...fresh fish fried right before your eyes. My wife and I would go back to the Clarion Hotel in a heart beat and plan to stay there whenever we want to get away to New York.

Convenient location, clean amenities, friendly and helpful hotel staff. Room too small, over sized furniture in small space and parking limited. Would recommend if you aren't particular about being stuck in a cramped space with large furniture. Parking is limited however the friendly and extremely helpful staff, cleanliness and the convenience.Amenities more than make up for the negatives.

My Girlfriend and I made our first trip to New York City on November 27th, coming from Toronto. While preparing for the trip, I researched affordable, clean hotels near Manhattan. Why did I end up at the Clarion in Queens, New York...? Well, its because I found the PERFECT Hotel in every aspect of the word. The location is awesome in relation to the subway. The Jamaica Ave subway is walking distance (less than 5 minutes) from the hotel, which gives you a short ride to Brooklyn, Manhattan or the Bronx. Hungry? Well, we recommend the Red snapper or King fish plate at the Jamaica Fish Market, located near by. Fast Food junkies will have plenty of options: Dunkin Donuts, Mc Donalds, Subway, KFC and Wendys can be reached in less than 30 seconds each. The room was perfect, a lil small for 2 people with 2 big suitcases...but we made due with the space. Washroom was spotless...Bed was nice and comfy...Don't pick a room near the pop/ice machine though..kinda noisy (as expected). Overall, a GREAT HOTEL. Period....read all the reviews to get a clear picture...But take my word for ir...well worth the money!!!

The operative word for this hotel is SMALL. From the room sizes, to the breakfast area to the lot size and parking area, everything is small to tiny for this place. The only thing not small were the HDTV flat screen TVs in each room. Size aside, the place was impeccably clean and professionally run. Unlike other reviewers, I was less than impressed by breakfast service. Other Choice hotels do manage a bigger spread compared to this place. Still, that shouldnt be a deal-killer for anyone. Grab some stuff to go and sample NYC's great culinary offerings. The neighborhood is gritty compared to the more-well heeled Manhattan but generally safe. We walked back and forth between the subway stop at all hours of the day. It is a noisy location but what part of the city isn't? Stay in a bland suburb if you want nighttime silence. As for the distance to manhattan, that isnt bad either. Bottom line: I would stay there again and would recommend it to anyone else too. It may be marginally more inconvenient to stay a half hour out from Manhattan, but it'll save you at least a hundred or more a night. Have fun with the money you are saving instead of overpaying for a room you will probably only spend 8-12hrs in.

We had a family emergency, so we drove to NYC from North Carolina for almost ten hours. When we got to the hotel all we wanted is a nice welcome and a clean and comfortable room. We had to wait to check in and the room was really small and not too clean.

This hotel is an amazing find! Walk to the subway, 20 minutes to Manhattan, bus line right in front of the hotel takes you to Jamaica station and on to JFK. The hotel is new and the perfect place to stay for business travel.

We stayed here in Jamaica, NY Thanksgiving week and our experience (my boyfriend and I) there was overall very pleasant and comfortable - just what I hoped for. The room, bed, and restroom were very clean, comfortable, and a good place to leave luggage and sleep well after a long day. The complimentary breakfast saved us money and time; good opportunity to start the day early (included cereal, donuts, bagels, coffee, hot cocoa, juice, and bananas). Manhattan was only 30 minutes away on subway and the station was walking distance. The front desk employees were friendly and welcoming. The king bed was extremely comfortable, soft, huge, warm, and contours to fit your body with plenty of nice pillows. The restroom was clean with efficiently running hot and cold water; pull down the gold ring under running faucet to switch to shower mode. I would most definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting New York City on a budget and it is still a very comfortable, clean hotel. We didn't notice any bed bugs (and they are supposedly a very common horrible problem in NYC hotels). Also remember that most NYC standard hotels are really old, small, and this is one of the newer-looking, cleaner, and comfortable hotels for a reasonable price similar to rooms in 3-star Vegas hotels. Travel tips: From JFK to hotel, take AirTrain for $5 to Jamaica Station. Then take subway E to Jamaica-Van Wyck (first or second stop) for $2 per trip. You can buy different kinds of MetroCards (unlimited, per ride) depending on your plans. Subway E also goes directly to Manhattan (42nd for Times Square). You'll learn the subway system fairly easily and it's the fastest way to get around!

I would stay here again - easy access to the subway - hotel staff friendly - staff was helpful in identifying which subways to take to get to the lcoations in New York that I wanted to visit - I didn't get out at night but felt very safe while out in the area during daylight hours. Had read reviews of other hotels and was worried about cleanliness of New York hotels - was very relieved when I arrived and saw how clean and attractive the hotel was.

It's clear that the management is trying very hard to give you a great hotel experience. The rooms compare well with any business hotel that I've stayed at -- the interiors are brand new, the carpets flush, the bathrooms spotless. There's also new furniture, flat-panel TV's, granite countertops in the bathroom, and free Wifi. Yet the location remains a big question for me. It's perfect if you have an overnight JFK layover, as I did. For a New York getaway, however, my recommendation is a little more reserved. Plan to be back before dark (or learn to run fast), since the 5-minute walk to the subway station is a little sketchy.

Bed and pillows were VERY comfortable. New establishment and courteous staff. Hotel appearance was very pleasing to the eye. Towel rack broken. Hotel was wonderful, location is the only thing that affects it's star rating.

This hotel was nice and clean. The bedding was very comfortable and the room was quiet even though we were next to the elevator. The staff was friendly and professional and everyone was quite friendly. Our only complaint was that we expected shuttle service from the airport and there was none available. The complimentary breakfast was also very nice. The subway was only a short walk away and there were several nice shops close by which we did patronize.

The hotel is very clean and nice, the furnitures are good but they are too big or maybe there are too much for the size of the room. Maybe a queen size bed would be enough instead of a king size, and replace the sofa chair with a tiny (bistro type) dining set so there is a place to eat instead of the bed. The pillows need improvement -- too soft and empty. The free breakfast is great for the prize of the hotel -- they serve bagels, Dunkin donuts (which we don't have in CA), toast, cereal, banana, coffee, chocolate and juice. The location is very convenient, if you don't mind taking the subway to Manhattan. We were there 4 days and we took subway everywhere. There is plenty of cheap restaurants around the hotel if you are on a budget -- American, Mexican, and a few Chinese. If you want fancy food, you need to go to Manhattan. The staff are great too, very helpful and courteous.

I would recommend if in Queens on business or to take a next day flight from JFK or LaGuardia. Hotel was new so room and bathroom was clean. Neighborhood not great, with no restaurants in walking distance. Only several parking spaces on site; otherwise, you must find a space in a seedy neighborhood. I was not made aware of a business center or fitness room by staff. Front desk staff was friendly.

Only stayed one night to go out of the country the next day. No way to call a cab and spent to much time trying to get one. It was okay. Close to the airport.

Good location. However, I had trouble with bed bugs after my stay. I have returned home (four days after the trip) and my husband and I are still itching. We have large red bumps all over our body. Our trip was spoiled. I contacted staff and hotel andfficials but obtained no response. R. C. from Atlanta
