Granted it was a holiday weekend and all area hotels were asking premium prices, but this Clarion stretched the truth in advertising to get an edge. For example, it advertises flat screen TVs (but leaves out that they're not in all rooms); it said we had a balcony (I hardly consider the space in front of my room--along the outside entry corridor to all rooms--a balcony; and then it boasted of a 25-foot breakfast buffet, but most of that space was for plates, plasticware, equipment. The illusion was an expectation of a sumptuous and varied selection of breakfast foods--it was anything but...

Great breakfast for free. One of the farthest hotels from downtown.

Hotel was clean and everything was good. The free breakfast was excellent. Only issue was that the walls are very thin and you can easily hear your neighbors. Good service and friendly staff

Overall appearance and upkeep. A little too much sound carried from adjoining rooms.

I liked this hotel but it wasn't the best I've ever stayed in. For one, the beds were very uncomfortable and I woke up with a back ache every morning. The high-speed internet was a joke, we were close to the office and could barely pick up a signal. However, the sandy beach was amazing, the rooms were large and clean, and the free breakfast bar was bigger and better than I expected. You're so close to downtown that you're literally right next door to the Arnold's Ferry to Mackinac Island so you can keep your vehicle at the hotel and just walk over. The staff were friendly, outgoing and quick to point out local deals and restaurants that offer discounts. I would probably stay here, if only for the comfortable beach chairs on the awesome sandy beach.

The room was very clean and stylish, with updated decor inside of rooms, and nice large bathroom. Second bed was fold down from wall. This was a nice hotel, that looked nice both inside and out. The room was a bit on the small side, especially when we folded down the bed, but second and third floor rooms looked bigger. The furniture was classy, not like the beat up characterless stuff so typical at standard hotels. The bathroom was larger, with a luxurious shower! Lots of hot water, immediately on demand (my wife especially liked the shower head). The breakfast room was on the second floor, so any handicap guests would want to investigate elevator locations prior to stay. But the breakfast was great, fresh waffles, and cereal, or oatmeal, eggs, sausage and bagels. Whatever someone might want. We enjoyed our stay and would return.

Very economical, excellent breakfast, convenient. Nothing. I was very pleased and actually surprised to get so much at such an economical price! Clean, nice rooms, short walk to Arnolds Cruise Line were nice advantages.

Wow! What a nice place to stay! From the very nice staff at check in to those cleaning the rooms everyone I ran into was very nice and helpful. My room was beautiful with new carpet and linens. A great view from my balcony. Braekfast was very good with a good selection. The pool and hot tub were very nicely kept, clean and warm. We had a shower head break while we were staying and they came and replaced it minutes after I reported it to the front desk. Thank you! I will be back

The staff was very helpful and allowed us to check in early. We were in a great location that allowed us to walk wherever we needed to go. We also got a discount at local restaurants. The room was very clean and quiet.

"Outside...it looks lovely. Inside..the rooms are dreary and dark. The bed was dreadful...most uncomfortable night's sleep ever. Poorly insulated...can hear every sound from outside and your neighbors. Loud, noisy air cond...way too much furniture in the tiny, cramped room. Breakfest buffet was good...lots of choices. Overall...it was a disappointing experience."

High point of the hotel were: 1) Breakfast: Very good variety of food with clean environment. 2) Hotel check-in staff was very friendly 3) Room: I liked tha fact that vanity area/bathroom/rooms were partitioned 4) Closer to dock and beach Low points were: 1) House keeping:Although room was kept clean, but common areas like walk-ways, stairs had litter. 2) Gym: Few equipments in Gym needed repairs.

"Rooms were dark, dreary, shabby and not too clean. We had to request clean sheets as the ones provided were stained and full of sand."

The Clarion was a nice hotel. I have a family of 6 and they were able to accomodate me in one suite with two seperate sleeping rooms. It had one bathroom for us to share but had seperation of the sink and toilet area's. The front desk was also very polite and helpful. There was shopping and restaurants within walking distance. The Clarion is located on the beach so we could easily relax and get wet. We also had access to a good ferry boat service that would take us out to the Mackinac Island and bring us back. The boat was large and had room for everyone without having to wait for the next ferry.
