Very good location, walking distance to Darling Harbor, Sydney Opera House, Harbor Bridge. Very close to train station and supermarket. The facilities and setup of the hotel made our stay felt like home...Good value for money, highly recommended.

Smaller then I thought it was, but still a pleasant stay.

Very "unskill" staff (even if "willing"). Very poor in "fixing problems" (3 days without air conditioning and a shower head broken). Very kind staff, but looking like "learning".

Well, for those of you that want a hotel - this is not what you are looking for. First - the reception is on the second floor without the lift and very steep stairs. If you have trouble walking the stairs and carrying bags - this is not for you. Second - no view, very stiff beds (like sleeping on the wooden planks without the mattress. 3rd floor has a common kitchen (don't know if its a good thing). Cleanliness - OK, but towels had stains and if you are unlucky - you get a smelly room (had to change) Overall - upmarket backpackers stay. From the positives: Great location, LCD tv, flexible check-in/check-out

Hotel is small but just what we were after location wise. We were walking distance from Circular Quay, Darling Harbour, Pitt Street Mall and right near a train station. Was very clean, and has a sitting area with couches for you to relax (this area includes a TV and magazines) and also has a balcony area for smokers. The staff were very friendly and accomodating - we were given a late check-out free of charge and were also able to store our bags there for the day once we had checked out as we didn't fly until the evening. Only issue we had was the TV didn't have a great picture (which we only put on for an hour or so at night anyway) and the fact that our "King Size" bed was actually 2 king singles joined together - so there was a hard bit down the middle. I would recommend City Lodge if you aren't after a fancy, massive hotel room - but just somewhere you can dump your bags and go sightseeing and have somewhere to sleep at night.

this hotel is definately not for the elderly or anybody with a disability as there are no lifts . we stayed on the 4th floor and believe me getting up 4 narrow, steep flights of stairs with all the luggage or shopping was no fun.this fact was not mentioned when booking. they also stated that you can watch all tv cannels [7,9,10,sbs,abc and lots of foxtel channels ,we however, had only 1 viewable channel for the whole period even after reporting the defective reception in our room.one last thing to mention is that although we have encountered firm beds all over world on our travels this one would be hands down the "hardest" surface we have ever slept on.otherwise ok.

Very good new small hotel for a few nights in Sydney. No meals but communal modern kitchen. Only problem would be for people with heavy luggage as there is no lift from street level. Okay if you only have 1 small bag. Excellent value for money.

The room is not very spacious as in the picture. It is located on the second floor with no lift. Overall service is good.

very good location for travelling in sydney, especially it is near the rocks and the circular bay thus it is easy to goto beach or other torist place.

The room was quite small, however, this was expected given the cheap tariffs. Facilities were poor. Despite advertising as having Foxtel channels, there were only 2 Fox Sports channels and Fox 8. Moreover, I could only get reception for these channels. There was no reception whatsoever for any of the free-to-air channels. The bed mattresses were rock hard. The bathroom had no exhaust fan and the room walls and doors poorly insulated for sound. I could quite clearly hear reception and patrons walking up and down the nearby stair case. The windows were also poorly insulated. I have discovered that Sydney waste collectors must collect rubbish every night! The location and pricing is fantastic.

City Lodge is very good value at its current special offer opening rates, but perhaps less so when they introduce higher rates (as planned according to leaflets in the hotel).
