I very much enjoyed my stay at the City Inn. The hotel is conveniently located in the vibrant Brindley Place section of Birmingham. There are many restaurants and shops nearby, but the hotel is set back from busy Broad Street so it's away from the noise and bustle. It's about a 10 to 15 minute walk to the center of town. The most direct route takes you through the ICC and Central Library which was nice considering it rained most of the time I was there. A parking garage located around the corner with a discounted rate of £11 for up to 24 hours is available for guests. The hotel, like the rest of Brindley Place is sleek and modern. My room and common areas were spotless. The bed was comfortable. Toiletries, bathrobes, coffee/tea, an ironing board, iron and safe were available in my room. One of the best features is the iMac in every room which also serves as the room's television. The complimentary internet service was handy to check out a few restaurants in the area. The only negative is that you cannot watch TV while using the computer. My rate included a complimentary full English breakfast. I didn't take advantage of a full English, but the selection was plentiful and quality of what I did have was excellent. The staff was friendly and helpful. Check-in and check-out was a breeze. Considering the location and amenities, the City Inn is an excellent value. I would definitely stay here again.

City Inn reviewafter the initial disappointment of one of our rooms not having a bed and another having no bedding, the rooms were great

Great, but not as good as it used to be!I used to stay here quite a bit a few years ago and always really enjoyed my time there. Things are still good there but some of the quality seems to have been compromised. The entertainment in the rooms has been improved somewhat with the introduction of iMacs, but they are on the desk so watching TV in bed is tricky! The breakfast here used to be amazing with an excellent quality hot and cold buffet. Now things are ordered from the kitchen and there are no fresh cheeses available on the buffet. I know it sounds like I am nit picking but the breakfast used to be the part I really looked forward when staying here and I felt a little short changed this time around!

Excellent Accommodation - at Lateroom PricesThis an excellent, well located place to stay - modern, clean and well equipped. Best hotel breakfast I have had in a long time. This is a great catch at Lateroom Prices but not sure I would pay the rack rate of £225.00

The hotel is very quick and easy to check in. The only problem we had was ordering breakfast. We used the collect and go option and chose 9.00am to collect our breakfast from the cafe. When we got to the cafe to collect our breakfast we was told it had gone to our room(we had checked out). It eventually arrives 15mins later.

Excellent hotel in good locationI cannot recommend this hotel highly enough! We stayed on a busy Saturday night and were well looked after by the staff who were friendly and helpful at all times. Our twin room was of a good size with enough mirrors for two girls getting ready for a night out. The inroom entertainment, an Apple iTV was very impressive and with free internet access we could check emails, watch tv or borrow a hotel DVD which we did. The hotel only stocked one of each of their library and so as our first choice was out we selected another to put on whilst getting ready. The hotel itself is within walking distance of Birmingham New Street station and easily reached with an internet print out map although a taxi rank is also located outside the front of the hotel for drop off and pick ups. The hotel was ideally situated for a number of bars including All Bar One, Pitcher and Piano and Slug and Lettuce which we visited during our stay. The area around the hotel is relatively quiet as it is behind the main road and as such benefits from limited traffic noise in addition to a large landscaped outdoor area complete with water feature, all in all very pretty and unexpected for Birmingham. The central shopping area was a little bit further afield, approx 15min walk but not unpleasent. Although we didnt have any food at the hotel as there were a number of local bars offering breakfast I would definately stay here again and would recommend it to anyone.

Pleasantly Surprised.I was new to City Inn having not stayed with them before and also, I have to admit, not familiar with the chain.Excellent hotel. Loved the iMac TV in the room. Good nights sleep on an extremely comfortable bed. The small things also made for an enjoyable stay - ie a proper power shower and an effective and modern iron in the room!Great location also with parking in a secure multi storey immediately next to the hotel.Minor confusion over breakfast entitlement however not a big deal. Highly recommended.

Not for technophobesOnly complaint is regarding the volume control on tv/radio etc as I could not make the sound low enough so as not to disturb other guests. Also do not like the integrated computer/ media player.......not user friendly for all guests.

MJ ReviewHotel was excellent and was well situated, with wine bars and clubs within easy walking distance. The only downside of the stay was the fact that car parking was £11 and that was the subsidised rate as we had to park in the nearby NCP due tothe hotel car park being full.

A busy weekend in BirminghamHotel check in easy, no car parking spaces left but parked in the mulit storey over night for the same rate the hotel would have charged (get you ticket stamped at reception).Clean room, comfortable bed, basic tea & coffee facilities. Very convenient for anyone going to the NIA, Symphony Hall or the ICC. Check out a convenient mid day. Had breakfast delivered dead on time requested, plenty to eat. Good hotel would recommend it to anyone.

Excellent location and nice hotelThe room was well fitted out apart from the fact that there was no hair dryer. Internet was supplied in the room, which was very nice.

RecommendedExcellently located Hotel for Central Birmigham, Brindley Place, Syphony Hall, Broad Street, Gas Street etc. Easy, secure parking. Hotel was welcoming, efficient, modern and spotlessly clean. They have a CD/DVD library for free use, free wi-fi and internet use. We stayed room only and were offered continental b'fasts at £9.95 or Full English at £13.95. We declined, but never ate in the Hotel so cant advise if this would be good value for money or not, but must admit it sounds quite steep for a breakfast! Plenty of good eateries /bars etc. nearby so suggest you make the most of the cosmopolitan, city centre living. Would recommend as a perfect venue for NIA - it's less than a 5 min. walk away.
