Enjoyable stay!!Excellent B & B. Comfortable and clean. Excellent breakfast. Also the bus service into York is first class. Bus Stop is <1min from B&B and takes you to the bottom of the Shambles. It takes about 10mins and is £2.20 return.

Very enjoyable stay - pleasant location with friendly and personal service - Spiral staircase may not suit everybody but it added to the charm of the place for us. I will happily return here on my next visit to York.Management ResponseThe spiral staircase leads up to the four poster room and the triple room If any one wants a groundfloor room we will be pleased to offer the large family room as an option Also all the cottages to the rear are ground floor.

The get a wayThe family that lives at the B&B are the msot friendliest people and very helpful with where to go and do in York. The only real problem I had was I am not too much of a morning person and they are and everyone made so much noise in the morning that next time when I come to York I would either rent their private apts. int he back house or to get a hotel. They are convienetly located about 5 mintue drive into downtown York or 3 houses away from the bus stop that takes you right into town as well. Easy access, comfortable bed and room. Other than them being loud in the morning and trying to hurry us up to get out was OK.Management Response I am pleased that we were found to be friendly and helpfull Breakfasts are served between 8am and 9am as on day of departure rooms have to be vacacterd by 10am so most guests are rising by 8am for those that prefer to sleep in and take the day at there own pace we reccommend the cottages where you will be left to your own devises until you leave.

What a warm, friendly place to stay - a place to recommendEasy to find in a great location with a warm welcome. A pleasant family room and a hearty home cooked breakfast catering for all our needs. Excellent local information and tips, nothing was too much trouble! Our daughters really enjoyed their stay too and have told all family and friends.

What a lovely b and bWe were in the cottage which was lovely and cosy. It had a really country atmosphere despite being just a few miles from york. We got 2 fantastic sleeps as it was so quiet. The owner was really friendly and helpful and brought us jam, milk and tea. Was excellent value for money. Will definitely stay again next time.

Church View B & B. Recommended if visiting York.Lovely accommodation. We stayed int eh self contained apartment. We were left to our own devices which was nice. Well decorated, clean , quiet and comfy. Only complaint was lack of facilities in the village. The shop shut at 1pm on the Saturday and the only pub in the village did not serve food, and every alcoholic drink we asked for they had "run out of".Only a short bus journey from the centre of York.

more food on breakfast please.Management ResponseWe appreciate this guest comments regarding breakfast, however we do feel what was on offer at breakfast was more than enough and we have never received any complaints regarding breakfast before. The guests had as much cereal, toast, fresh coffee and orange juice as they could want. Along with bacon, sausages, eggs and beans.

The young man who greeted us was amazingly helpful, unfortunately all went downhill from then on.We had booked three nights but he said we could only stay for 2 but he had arranged with another B&B to take us for the other two nights. In Church View we had to wash the plates and the cutlery before we could use them. The cups were impossible to get clean as they had never been properly cleaned and the tea/coffee stainswere tthere to stay! There was no control for the TV and when we asked where it was we were told " the batteries have run out"

The family room was big enough for all of us - 2 adults and 3 kids and was nicely furnished. Shower was somewhat temperamental, pulsing hot and cold and never really settling but it didn't spoil things at all. Parking was fine and access into York (15 mins by bus) and the coast (45 mins drive) was great. We were made to feel very welcome and the owners were helpful regarding where to go and eat (try the Four Alls down the road on the A64, very nice!) and places to visit. Found it a little expensive but no worse than anywhere else in the York area which seems to be a really pricey place to stay or visit.

The Proprietor was kind enough to offer to fetch Bread, Milk and Butter to provide breakfast basics, which is clearly beyond what you would expect. The only slight disappointment related to there being insufficient glasses and crockery to cater for the four of us, but we will now be prepared for our next stay

The Church View provided the perfect place to stay on our mini-break. The proprietor, Lynne, was very helpful in helping us look for good restaurants and places to park in the area, and was also friendly and welcoming. The room (4 poster) was excellent also! Clean, warm and comfortable.Recommended!

stayed in this hotel as York races were on and all other accomodation was booked out. Decor is extremely tired, breakfast was ok, but far from fantastic. other hotels in area seem to have better facilities for same price?

I stayed in the cottage behind the B&B which was clean, tidy and quiet. I was only there for one night but had a pleasant stay and would definately stay there again on my trips to York.

we had a great weekend but the only heating was a small fan heater so we were cold apart from this a good stay

This was quite a nice B&B, but the 4-poster room was very small, with the bed taking up too much space so that it felt quite crowded. The spiral wrought-iron staircase to the room was tight, and awkward for accessibility, especially for anyone with limited movement and also for taking up luggage. However, we also saw the self-contained cottages, and if we came back, we would certainly choose this as an option. They were spacious and recently refurbished.
