I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived at Christie Lodge. For $100/night, I was expecting a hovel. It was nice and clean and on the shuttle route to Beaver Creek. I would recommend requesting a room away from the pool/hot tub because of the noise level.

The size and the partial kitchen. My key card did not work correctly, although the others did. This is a great place to stay. Nice, big room. Could sleep 5: 2 on bed, 2 on sleeper couch and 1 on the day bed. I also liked that I could park my car on the lower level of the parking garage where it stayed out of the weather.

This was probably originally an outside hotel that was converted into an indoor hotel by building a roof over/between the two rows of units. It was different...it was a looooong atrium between the 2 rows of rooms with lounges, 2 hot tubs and ping pong tables. There was a Subway shop off the hallway and a ski/snowboard rental area opposite the check in desk. The rental area also housed a small shop with snacks and souvenirs. We had requested adjoining rooms, but did not get them, even after the clerk said she would put us in adjoining rooms. The rooms are more like row house rooms. You enter into the small bedroom with a place inside the door to place your skis, the bed is up against the wall so you have to crawl up the bed to get into it, and there is a surface with a skinny mattress on it that we took down and put on the floor. It would be good for a skinny kid. Next was the bathroom that was ok. It is followed by a living room with a small kitchen with tiny counter space. It was sufficiently supplied with silverware, plates, cups and glasses. There was a microwave, small fridge, toaster, sink, dishwasher and an ELECTRIC FRYING PAN for the cooking surface. The living room area had a pull out sofa, table and chairs and a fireplace. Don't expect modern facilities like the newer condos. The thermostat did not work and it was rather toasty in the bedroom and freezing in the living room. The hot tub jets were powerful and good...nice after a day of skiing.

This hotel was affordable, which is important in an expensive location like Vail/Beaver Creek. Also, this hotel offered free parking. The carpets looked dirty, in spite of being vacuumed, and the bathrooms seemed rather worn-out. The hotel has only one elevator which makes it difficult. This hotel is a good place for those on a budget in a ski town. It is getting run down, but offers a mostly clean room with sufficient accommodation for a small group staying together.

A few positives:(1) If you have children the layout reminds you, as stated by my kids, of "staying inside a mall". The property is laid out in such a way that you walk through an open atrium that smells of chlorine past the hot tub, the ping pong table, the arcade, the cheesy restaurant, and the small pool as you wonder to your room inside the dome. Kids like the loud atmosphere, the arcade and the people wandering around the dome. (2) In fairness, once inside our unit -- the tiny kitchen, i.e sink, small frig, microwave had been updated - had workable space for coffee and cont. breakfast. NEGATIVES: Our "three bedroom suite" - Room 197 A&B. The dated furnishings, very small double bed in pint size room, miniscule bathroom and ancient TV's were to be expected for the bargain price of 450.00 a night in Vail area over holidays! However, the following was not anticipated: nonworking condition of 2 of showers in the 3 bathrooms, broken thermostat in half the unit, blown circuit (we would discover upon checkout the source of nonworking plugs in all restrooms), broken toilet in 1 bathroom, 2 of the 3 ancient Tv's being nonworking (no reception only static)remotes didn't work either, the thermostat was stuck at 95 so opened window in 10 below weather, nonworking hairdryers in all three bathrooms, the stains on the ceiling from leaks, ... need I say more because I can! We paid for a disaster but that is not the worst part. After our family had to take turns rotating into the one working bathroom and could not even use a hair dryer my husband decided he should probably speak to management. The manager on duty said "nothing I can do" ---not sorry, not When pressed she said you can come in later in the week and talk to the general manager but she isn't going to do anything for you either. (Well great) But, after we had checked out, the manager on duty sent a team of mantience people up to our "suite" who announced to us that the circuits were all fried, the toilet broken and the

The staff at check in was great. The room was roomy, lots of closet space. The bed was right against the wall to the hallway, and no walking room around the bed. Very poor water pressure in the shower.

Perfect size room. The bed was located in the front of the room. I loved how the room had a fireplace, kitchen, and balcony. I really disliked how the bed was located in the front room right next to the front door. It was like having less privacy.

Bright and open. Lots of parking. Access to only one side of bed; noisy bath vent. Couch sagged, lid of coffee pot was broken (dangerous if you're making more than 4 cups of coffee), bathroom vent noisy, showerhead broken, queen bed against wall (ingress and egress awkward). The room felt cramped with just the two of us. But the room was clean, your staff cordial and the mattress comfortable. Hot without AC.

Location - close to the wedding reception we attended. Did not like the bedroom situation - bed was next to wall and very difficult to get in and out of because of bed location. We were with another couple and I was actually embarrassed with the room we had and very disappointed. We've stayed at Christie lodge before, many years ago and that room was so much nicer than the one we had this time. If we ever go to Colorado again, we will not stay at Christie Lodge.

Nothing. The room was so hot. Very bad not worth the money.
