the hotel was wonderful and our room was in one of the cottages on the premises. the rooms are decorated in cape/beach fashion and pretty spacious. it's a bit of a walk (and quiet a few stairs) to get to the beach, so if you don't mind the walk (and we didn't) it's well worth it. the hotel runs a free boat ride to a near by sandbar/island - if your looking for a little more privacy - it's a wonderful place to spend the day with your feet buried in the sand while you watch the seals sun themselves. the staff was friendly, but not so helpful. parking is also pretty limited on premises. the big downside - make sure to ask if there is a wedding going on the week/weekend you plan to be there. they allow weddings to rent out the dinning rooms and most of the hotel common space, which really limits the options for the non-wedding guests.

We got a great rate on a room...well, there was a reason. Our room was pretty far from the beach, next to a utility/staff room with lots of traffic early in the morning (aka no sleeping in). We stayed here on our babymoon hoping for a relaxing getaway which was quiet and peaceful...basically with this room you were on the main floor next to a golf course and with lots of people walking by..no napping with the windows open, etc. The spa was nice, the one restaurant in the hotel we ate in was way just okay. The resort is a short distance from Chatham which has lots of fantastic restaurants. The veranda on the front of the hotel at sunset or after dinner was wonderful. This is a huge resort which almost had a "compound feel" to it....Overall a nice place but not worth it unless you have a ocean side room.

The Chatham Bars Inn is a luxury resort with a beautiful view of the ocean. The winter is not a busy time but place was far from empty. The wonderful front desk woman who checked us in very generously upgraded our room to a cottage with a view. For four people it was spacious and comfortable and pretty. There was a bedroom with two queen beds, a well appointed bathroom with plenty of towels, a separate vanity and second sink with an expresso maker and robes for each of us. We had one lunch in the tavern, tea in their large open great room, and had a huge brunch in the dining room. The dining room looks over the water and the hostess put us at a table that had a view. The staff was very down to earth and helpful. We love the cape during the winter and we would return again.

It was very spacious and welcoming. There were window seats that looked out over the beach, a private deck with tables and chairs looking out over the ocean and fishing boats. This was all unexpected and wonderful. The bathroom separate from the vanity area is always a plus. In addition the comfortable chairs, flat screen tv, refrigerator, and two queen size beds were all as had been described. I thought there was going to be a fireplace, however, the room was so wonderful I did not care. The dining, although expensive, was exceptional. The staff catered to us and I if I decide to go back to the Cape, I would definitely stay here again.

Most beautiful spot in the most beautiful town on the Cape. We went off-season (October) and didn't really experience it full-force. There were however three weddings taking place the weekend we were there, which gummed up the works somewhat and closed off some of the dining facilities for other guests. Staff was really friendly and helpful, but housekeeping, for example, seemed somewhat overwhelmed. Fabulous facilities, recently redone but NOT in a spare no expense style, which is what it deserves. Food was very, very good, and room service was prompt. Spend the extra to book a view room, ideally with a second floor deck, or you'll be kicking yourself and wishing you did. Avoid first floor rooms in the cottages that overlook parking (and parking noises,) or are adjacent to stairs.
