Utterly splendid! A five-star hotel at 3-star prices. Very helpful staff.

Friendly and very courteous staff. Assistance always available. Convenient shuttle service to and from downtown and to train depot (delivery, but no pick-up). Unfortunately, no shuttle to airport. Great location, adjacent to gorgeous Hagley Park and Mona Vale. Easy and very pleasant walk to downtown, the preferable way to go if the weather is nice. Good eating facility on site, but there are also good and less expensive eating places nearby (which we had to discover ourselves).

The hotel is across the street from Hagley Park, which has some nice walking paths. The staff was very friendly and professional.

Nice and tidy, with character, good facilities and a reasonably attractive location next to the Park.

We enjoyed the walk thru the park everyday to the city. We truly liked being out of the way but still close enough to do what we wanted. The hotel shuttle was excellent to do whatever else we liked. We would certainly recommend this hotel to travelers who enjoy a little excersice. The gardens where nice at the hotel, but the moat needed cleaning but I suspect they where waiting for fall to get over.(lots of leaves) The restaurant could shake up the buffet breakfast a bit, it was boring. But all in all for the price it was good.

Approaching The Chateau on the Park was a pleasure to the eyes. Checking in was quick, convient, and friendly. They were on-top of our lost luggage situation, immediately. They were more then professional, friendly and helpful. Our room was attractive, up-to-date and at all times clean. Lovely gardens both in the interior and exterior of the hotel were tended to at a constant pace with loving care. Each room has a frig (mini-bar) and coffee/tea set up. Heated pool is outside. The rooms open onto a patio in the garden. Good photo ops. at every turn, in the path. The restaurant was exceptional and not overly priced, with swift and very pleasant staff. Breakfast buffet! Computers were easily available in an alcove in the lobby. A lovely walk through Hagley Park to the city was just a few steps from the hotel's entrance. All our needs were met with professional and warm friendliness. This in my opinion is a dream hotel. I would always return to this hotel in visits to Christchurch, NZ.

Excellent Service and the Location is ideal being only a 5 minute drive to the city centre. Would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Was let down by the cleaniness of the room, when I first checked in biscuits crumbs were discovered on the bed. Also when I went to make a cup of tea, the jug was covered in coffee stains. Dirty water stains also discovered on the side of the bath & mould spots on the ceiling. On the plus side the breakfast was very good & the service at reception was excellent.

Lovely setting at the Hotel much better than hotels around the Square. They have lovely gardens, swimming pool, outdoor luncheon area and dining room front of the house lady excellent. Courtesy Coach to train and into city several times a day - city only 2 km away anyway and lovely Hagley Park right across the road.

A relaxing, quiet environment, yet very close to the city shopping centre and hospital. I would also like to mention the beautifully kept gardens which boasted a variety of scented roses, and the somewhat laid-back 'man of the manor', namely a four legged majestic cat who charmed us. We look forward to returning. Estelle Courtney

Favourite place in Christchurch as it is handy to most things, the rooms are lovely and dark and very quite. Beautiful garden to sit in with a coffee or a meal which are generally very good.

Very friendly and helpful staff. We used the bikes and golf equipment supplied free of charge from hotel which were excellent. They run a shuttle service also free of charge to town and airport. Room was clean and spacious with tea and coffee facilities. Hotel is situated oppossite Hagley Park and Christchurch Town Centre is a flat walk through the park. There are shops and bars located a short distance away.

A very good location and lovely environment. Although it may not be the most upmarket hotel, it has stood the test of time well.

Absolutely wonderful. We couldn't fault it. The gardens were beautiful (spring) and the proximity to Hagley Park was so convenient. Complimentary golf club hire and fees at Hagley Golf Club plus free bike hire, to be enjoyed right next door made our stay extra special. Great food!
