If you're looking for a poor man's alternative to Venice hotels, this is it. This isn't in Venice, but rather in Mestre, a minute's walk from a bus into Venice, 15 minutes in all from Piazella Roma. It is much cheaper than Venice hotels, but still a bit pricey for what you get. The rooms are small and not the most pleasant I've seen, no WiFi, etc. You should remember not to expect much, and then all this is OK. However, there's one thing the hotel should remember - clean rooms are a basic requirement, even for inexpensive hotels, and the smashed mosquito stains on the walls aren't very pleasant.

It served very well to our purpose: have a good location and good connections for visiting Venice. The hotel staff recommended us a garage (we traveled by car) that made a discount just because we stayed at Centrale. The room was very large (we booked for 2 nights a triple room but were accomodated in a 5 beds room)and although it did not have a fridge or air conditioning, we managed to keep a pleasant atmosphere by keeping the balcony door opened. It was a good location and would come back any time we want to re-visit beautiful Venice.

Overall though a satisfactory hotel |

Cheap and cheerful. strong smell of sewer in the bathroom. Breakfast is bad - if one wants to wake up to a nice cup of tea of coffee - forget it: both are bad. you cant really call "coffee" or " juice" the liquid that comes out of the machines. Basically, if you got used to a mug of tea or coffee - you'll have to wait until u r back home. Bus stop to Venice is really close to the hotel, but you need to recognise it on the way back. For 2 days I struggled to find the right stop when returning from Venice. It might become stressful. The hotel is a "budget accomodation" hence expect neighbours of "budget-travel" type. Once is enough, I would definitely choose different hotel next time.

Excellent spot. Highly recommended. I was on my way to take a cruise in Venice, stayed here the night before to visit Venice. I booked a quadruple room, they gave us 2 double rooms at the same price. Bus take you to Venice in 10 mins and the stop is right in front of the hotel.

The Centrale Hotel Mestre was excellent value - very cheap for this family of four (staying in a family room). The bus stop to Venice (number 7) was around the corner and the journey took 20 minutes. Mestre was a pleasant surprise and there was plenty of choice for drinks and restaurants. The breakfast in the hotel was good value at 5 euros each. The only drawback was that the bus from Treviso airport only stopped at Mestre Train Station meaning we had a 20 minute walk to the hotel. Manageable but the only travel glitch we had all holiday. Staff helpful with the details of which bus to catch. If you don't want to stay in Venice, this is an choice.

Very good location for getting cheaply & easily into Venice itself and plenty of places to eat & have a coffee in the local area .Staff helpfull when they could but appeared to be staying at a busy time.A bit more research beforehand on my hehalf regarding which other buses pass nearby the hotel (not just the 7 for Venice) and ones that pass within walking distance (2 for the railway station) would have a been a help ! Also a good place to stay if planning on going futher afield like Verona .

Staff in reception excellent and very good english. Continental breakfast very poor. Buffet breakfast good but cost you extra. We went into restaurant beside hotel and witnessed drugs being sold and the same people there day and night. This puts a bad image on the hotel. Hotel very good value for money for Venice and would recomend it.

The location is perfect, the bus stop to Venice is just across the hotel and it will take you to Venice and right there you can take the water bus (vaporetto) to see the grand canal. We thank Marco who is so helpful upon check in.

Great location. We didn't want to stay on the island but wanted a place close enough to take the bus. The bus was located outside the hotel. There were frequent buses that made trips to and from the island. The location was nice for shopping and eating when we returned from our day trips to Venice.

The hotel is good value - clean en-suite rooms, typical continental breakfast and friendly & helpful reception staff. Transport links to Venice are good as the bus stop is over the road. (No. 7 bus to Venezia to terminus at Piazzale Roma (15 mins) where you catch a waterbus around the Grand Canal). Locally (5 minute walk) there is a good shopping area with cafes/restaurants and bars. Going back to the airport we found it easier to take the bus to Piazzale Roma and pick up the airport bus (Stand A1) direct to the airport rather than going to the station to change buses which were the directions given by the hotel.
