Description:
Established in 1887, Dublin's Central Hotel is aptly named, designed by Richard Millar and William Symens of Kildare Street and built by Ross and Walpole. The entire hotel is made from reinforced cast iron which was a super structure with an outer skin and inner skin, which was unique in its day. Located in the heart of Dublin, the hotel has completed its room refurbishment in early 2008.Features include 70 rooms ensuite, direct dial telephone, flat screen colour television with 10 channels in all rooms, wifi in all public areas and most bedrooms. Our Refurbishment has seen the introduction of duvets, brand new bathrooms and new soft furnishings throughout. The hotel's restaurant, bars and private dining facilities make this an ideal location for the corporate traveller. Secure car parking at reduced nightly rates is available locally. The hotel is situated one block from Trinity College, the Book of Kells, Temple Bar, Grafton Street and Dublin Castle. We are also within walking distance of Saint Patricks Cathederal, ChristChurch, Grafton Street, home of the famous Bewley's Cafe, and Saint Stephens Green. Not too far away is The Guinness Hop Store and on the far side of the Liffey is The Jameson Distillery. We now operate a strict Non Smoking Policy throughout the hotel.

Good location, clean though small single roomGreat location, simple room but in comparison to the rest of Dublin good for the price. Room and bathroom clean and comfortable though small. Was a bit noisy at night as pub next door with late music. Hotel well known by bus and taxi drivers. Front desk helpful but evening shift was unfamiliar with area.

The first night of our two night stay the room faced out onto the street, and there is a club below the room. The whole hotel room vibrated with the beat of the club speakers until after 2am. I asked to be moved the next night, so they accomodated us and put us in what was supposed to be one their most quiet rooms. This was after several rounds with the manager - who actually had the audacity to remind me that this was Dublin you know and that noise came with the atmosphere. The new room was on the inside and seemed better to start until someone started dumping load after load of glass bottles into a dumpster 5 floors below me. Even with the window closed it was about 90 minutes of glass shattering sleeplessness. Don't stay here unless you plan on staying out until 3am yourself and need to stumble back to a convenient hotel. A respite this was not. I will never go back here again.

Excellent hotel, brilliant location (very short walk to both grafton street and temple bar) modern rooms with a clean tidy bathroom. Very respectable price for such an impressive hotel. The one bargain i found in a very expensive city.

I'll be Back !Centrally located in a lively area, convenient to shopping and galleries and museums etc...The Hotel itself is an lovely old building with a beautiful art deco stained glass canopy entrance and a comfortable feel to the interior. - The lift is was a bit slow but it comes eventually ! - My room on the 2nd floor was fine, - huge king size bed, tasteful clean decor, good clean bathroom, no shortage of hot water... I was there on a Tues so am not sure of soundproofing between rooms, but I'd def go back at €59, and between 2 that'd be even better. It is so central it is easy to back in the middle of the day and freshen up. I didn't eat or drink there so I cant comment but next time i'm in Dublin I hope to stay there again. To date its the best overall one I've stayed in.

The Central Hotel in Dublin gets a pendulum rating from me. It's a lovely old building with a somewhat shabby, old world charm that I rather enjoyed. The staff was very courteous and checked us in quickly. But the room was disappointing. It was extremely small...in fact I knocked my head on the ceiling twice when getting out of bed! There was no clock & a bulb was out in one of the lamps...and this was a new room. But the locatin was good & it was surprisingly quiet for being centrally located.

Realy a avarage hotel. Very good location but the rest is avarage or below avarage (for exampel breakfast ). We stayed two nights and that was ok due to the location.

can't get more centralGreat location smack bang in the city center. Its easy to find and for the price I paid which was 49€ it was good but by God had I paid the normal retail price of 139€ I would have been sick. Its clean but the term couldn't swing a cat comes to mind. water power is terrible a dribble at most. The room is comfortable and I was only staying one night any more and I think I would have 12 Monkeys Syndrome. So for cheap rate short stay go for it, for long stay at full price try somewhere else

The best thing with this hotel is that it is located very close to the city center but it is less noisy than expected. The room was clean and the staff was friendly. The breakfast was not so good and late. The floors are wooden and this makes everyones steps to be heard from all other rooms. Generally i would recommend it only for a couple of nights stay for a business trip.

Lovely clean hotel, with modern interior in rooms, and a lovely feel throughout the hotel. Very helpful staff and an ideal location for walking to places of interest. 10/10.

Great location, room & serviceOnly stayed for one night but the hotel was perfect for a night out in Dublin. Only a few minutes walk from the 2 main Gay bars so was perfect for us. The night porter even allowed us to buy a couple of bottles for wine when we got back. Room was modern and bed was comfortable. Will definately be staying here again!

The Central Hotel is in an excellent location with easy walking distances to most major cites to visit. It is an old Hotel but clean. There is no air conditioning and can be very noisy late at night. Breakfast is good. Would recommend this hotel primarily for its location. Good for shopping, nightlife and attractions.

Armchair in common area on 2nd floor very worn need to be replaced. At breakfast had to ask for toast 3 times and it was the same for other guests. Hotel is in a great location for shopping between Grafton ST and Henry ST.

Would definitely recommend! We stayed here for two nights and had a wonderful break - the hotel is perfectly sited for easy access to the city and was just a two minute walk from the Aircoach stop which provides a shuttle service for the airport, and also the tour buses. The library bar was really nice, cosy and comfortable and unbelievably we actually found it cheaper to drink in there than in the bars in Temple Bar!! Friendly helpful staff too - especially the lady in the bar on the two nights we stayed. Would wholeheartedly recommend and stay again!

The staff were friendly and very helpful. The hotel was cosy, warm and welcoming and the room was of excellent quality, warm and well laid out. Parking was the only problem I had as I arrived to late to park in the local car park. This Hotel is very close to the tram line and buses and is ideal if you don't have a car.

Although my trip this time was for business, I would definately book again for a leisure break. All three rooms booked for this trip were of the same standard - very good. Although the decor of the hotel was perhaps a little tired it did not detract from the overall atmosphere of the hotel. I have already recommended the hotel to other colleagues and friends and will continue to do so. Breakfast was self service and of good quality. All staff really helpful and friendly.
