Beautiful place, appr. 10-15 min. walking distance from the Duomo and the railway station, near the San Marco square. Tastefully decorated, warm atmosphere. Room rather small, but the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was big and convenient. We really had a good time at the Cellai Boutique and we highly recommend it. The photos from the hotel on the internet give the idea of what to expect. If you like them, this is the right place for you.

The Hotel Cellai has a very stylish ground floor with lobby, pool table and small bar. Most sites are within walking distance and it is about 20 walking minutes to the river Arno. Staff is friendly and breakfast comes with a good selection of teas (served in a big jug) or tasty coffee. The rest of the breakfast is simple, but good for Italian standards. Staff is friendly and helpful, but a bit a bit stressed when the breakfast room filles up (2 staff only). The rooms are rather small and the bathroom only fits one person at a time. Sitting on the toilet would be much easier, if they would not have installed that weird additional basin you only find in countries like Italy just in front of it. The shower is extremely narrow. The shower curtain seemed clean, the rest however does not get cleaned properly, leaving brown and black spotts everywhere. The water did not go down the drain properly and within a minute you stood in a few centimeters of water. Hence, taking a shower was not that pleasent. We asked for the problem to be fixed, which however never happened. Cleaning personel was very inefficient and did the job with a cloth in one hand and a cigarette in the other when I viewed them (hotels are non-smoking in Italy). Cleaning did not seem to be defined different than just pulling a dirty wet cloth over bathroom appliances and letting it dry (a 2-year old could do it better – if he can reach up). The bed has only a thin sheet on the mattress, without a mattress cover as you would expect. The carpet seemed quite dirty and probably hasn’t seen a vacum cleaner in days, if not weeks. This is not what I expect from a 3-star hotel and a room price around 100 Euros. Rooms are quite noisy. However, street noise has to be expected in a an old building in the middle of town. While checking out, we listened to an American having no hot water and complaining about smoke. They asked to chang rooms for the third time, we only changed once. It seems we weren’t the only picky ones. The hotel management needs to take some measures and supervise cleaning and maintenance better. Should I go back to Florence, I certainly will pick another hotel.

We had high hopes for this hotel. It had gotten great reviews in a travel guide we had and online. It's too bad, but the rooms were filthy by US standards. The carpets were disgusting, the comforters were dirty. You could see stains on the pillows and mattresses though the sheets. Overall, we were very disappointed in our room. I actually looked under the bed and found a piece of fruit and other trash, none of which was ours. They need to replace all the bedding and give it some serious attention.

Inexpensive for location. Way too smallroom. Hotel staff was nice and professional. The hotel was clean and attractive. Room was tiny and bed was hard as a rock, but the price was competitive for the location. Would recommend and stay here again.

I have stayed many times in Florence for business, this was my first time on vacation. Even though this hotel was not the 5 star I usually stay at, it was a wonderful experience. The staff was gracious, the hotel is beautiful and location can't be beat. Enjoy the sunset with a bottle of wine on the roof terrace. For the price it's a little jewel!

My wife and I were pleasantly surprised by the hospitality, cleanliness, and excellent location of our hotel in Florence. We were able to walk into the heart of historical Florence. Bus stops were also conveniently located near the hotel if one needs such means of transportation. The breakfast was sufficient composed of croissants meat and cheese, fruit, milk and cereal. The room was very comfortable and adequate with our personal bath/shower. Despite the cool weather we also utilized the upper floor outside and covered deck which was a great spot for a night cap drink and to process the day. The staff was helpful with directions and wake up calls. My only complaint is the lack of access to a computer and the internet at the hotel for customer use. I did not bring a lab top and would have liked to use a computer to check email and reserve seats on the plane home.

I am very disappointed and regret that I booked this hotel for my 30th birthday trip. Reading the other people?s reviews, I can?t believe that we stayed at the same hotel! I would never stay here again. From the pictures here and on their web site, it looks like a VERY nice hotel. The room they checked us into on the first night was horrific. Dingy room with cracked wall and broken molding. Nothing looked like those ?photos?! The headboard was old & dirty, and you could see the oily head marks. (if you know what I mean) The bathroom was very, VERY small that one person could barely move around. It seriously made me feel suffocated. Plus it was on the 4th floor, so absolutely, no water pressure. Throughout the hotel, there was this strange musty smell?even the (thin) towels smelled funny. We paid over 200 for the first night!Since it was the New Year?s Eve and sold out, they gave us another room (happened to be on the 2nd floor) the next day. It sure was better than the first room, but it was just okay. We had a good water pressure, though! It definitely was not a 3-star hotel room either. Construction was going on, so if you are lucky, you may get to stay at a newly renovated room. Then you could be a happy customer?! Location was good. About 10 min walk to Duomo. The hotel staff were okay. They wouldn?t greet you when you come in/out of the hotel, though. Please don?t be fooled by the ?nice lighting? pictures!

We enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Cellai very much. It was clean, the staff was friendly, helpful, and informative. It was at the center of everthing, we walked everywhere. I would definitely go back to this hotel if ever in Florence again.

Cellai is a wonderful place to stay. The location is perfect--in walking distance to all the Florence attractions. There's a store across the street for necessities, if you've forgotten something or are there for an extended stay. The rooftop garden was very relaxing and cozy. When I was there, I missed my outgoing flight (perhaps because subconsciously I couldn't bear to leave Florence!), and couldn't get a flight out until the next day. Unfortunately, Cellai was booked that night because that was a long weekend for Italians and many were coming to spend it in Florence, but the desk clerk kindly offered to find me other accomodations. She called three other hotels before she found one with a vacancy, made sure it was of good quality, got a price quote, and drew out a map for me to get there (it was just around the corner, but she did offer to call me a cab if I wanted). She did not have to do that, and I really appreciated it. I will definitely be staying here for what I hope will be many more trips to Florence in the future.
