Cedar Manor Hotel and Restaurant is located on the outskirts of Windermere in the heart of the Lake District. Built in 1854 as a private country retreat, the hotel now provides comfortable accommodation for those wishing to relax and enjoy the breathtaking scenery, wonderful walks and wealth of leisure facilities Windermere and the Lake District National Park have to offer. Set in mature walled gardens dominated by the 200 year-old cedar tree, the hotel feels peaceful and secluded, yet is just a short stroll away from the shores of Lake Windermere and the centre of Windermere village. We have a lovely candlelit restaurant with an AA Rosette, awarded in September 2007. The A la Carte Menu, which changes seasonally and sources most of its ingredients locally, and is open to hotel guests as well as non-residents. Everything we serve is made with the freshest of ingredients, using local produce wherever possible, complimented by a specially selected wine list. Pre- and after-dinner drinks can be enjoyed in the lounge bar.

From the SouthLeave the M6 at junction 36. Take the A591 following signs for Windermere. As you come down the hill into Windermere ignore the turn-offs into the village, stay on the A591 towards Ambleside. Cedar Manor is on the left just beyond St Mary's Church at the bottom of the hill.From the NorthLeave the M6 at junction 39 and follow signs for Kendal along the A6. Take the one-way system through Kendal following signs for Windermere and the A591. Follow directions as above.By trainChange at Oxenholme to connect to the local train to Windermere station. Oxenholme to Windermere takes 15 minutes. Cedar Manor is a 10-minute walk down hill or a 2-minute taxi ride.

You must stay here !This hotel was fabulous. The room was superb. Even the bed was comfy. We had dinner at the hotel and the food and service was excellant. Nothing was too much trouble.

Cedar Manor Hotel and Restaurant A beautiful Manor house situated on the A571 so it was very easy to find and walking distance from the town centre. My husband and I chose to stay at the hotel for a wedding anniversary after looking this website and checking the reviews. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and the food, well the food was second to none. We have never tasted food so good!! The room we stayed in was stunning and very clean. We would like to thank Jonathan and Caroline for their hospitality, recommendations and for making our break very special. We will be visiting later in the year and must recommend a stay at the Cedar Manor Hotel and Restaurant to anyone.

The couple that run the hotel are lovely, the staff very friendly and helpful. The hotel in our opinion has two sides to it, the renovations that have been sympathetically done with regard to the look and style of the property and the side of the more contemporary dining area with great regional food. Excellent would readily recommend to anyone.
