The hotel is in a quiet area of Lourdes close to a market and 5 minutes walk from a bus stop. The place is very clean and tidy and from this point of view makes a good impression. However, we sometimes got the impression that tidyness and cleanliness were more important than good and friendly customer service!! Rooms are small but comfortable. Hotel staff speak little English but although not very friendly, tried to be helpful. One big disadvantaged of the hotel is that it is strictly forbidden to eat or drink anything in the room. We were not allowed to make coffee and were were stricly reprimanded when we each had a banana to eat even although we did not put the peels in the dustbin but discarded it outside the hotel in a public dustbin. I felt this was a bit "over the top"! However, we only stayed for 2 nights and although it was inconvenient, we could tolerate it. The staircase to the room is very steep and uncomfortable and we found it difficult to "haul" our luggage up and down the stairs without any assistance from hotel staff.

As a woman over 50 travelling alone, I felt it was too far from grotto (20 mins walk)and also it had no lift.I was followed the first night I was there and therefore felt you would need a car to be staying there.

nel complesso va più che bene per un soggiorno breve, l'ubicazione è ottimale, buona anche la colazione anche se non inclusa nel prezzo della camera, personale cortese e disponibile

We have not been to Lourdes before we were very happy with the service but the room was very very small and we did not like that you were not able to have a cup of tea or coffee in the room the hotel is not far from the site in Lourdes

The hotel was spotless. You could have eaten off the floors! The breakfast room looked out on to the Pic du Jer and the view was stunning. The owner was very friendly and helpful. The hotel was a 15 minute walk to the Sanctuaries of Lourdes and was also convenient for driving to the Pyrenees for hiking.

First impression of entrance not good at all. When I could see my room I found it little, but nice and clean. So for the bathroom. Nice the location for breakfast. Kindness of clearks

The hotel is very nice and clean. It is only a little bit far from the down town. But it's OK, one can see the Lourdes' cityside. It is near a market (open only until 1 pm!). One can easily buy something to eat there. The room has only one power outlet (Steckdose), hotel-soaps and towels.

Excellent stay at Hotel Cazaux. Very clean and the staff were very good to us. We loved the location because it was quiet and well removed from the frenetic atmosphere near the grotto. However, be aware that it is a good 1-mile walk to both the grotto and the train station. Also, eating in the room is strictly forbidden here.

This is a nice hotel. Rooms are clean and service is very friendly. Feels more like a "bed & breakfast." About a 10-15 minute walk from the Sanctuary and is just far enough away from the main area that it is not "touristy." Lourdes is fantastic: the scenary and setting is spectacular. I can see why our Holy Mother would visit there! Would love to go back again someday.

very friendly. free maps and excellent advice available. right next to covered market with everything from breads, fish, meat, cheese, fruits (for pic-nics) to clothes, flowers, shoes, etc. great rosted chicken and rice in stall outside. special key given for late-night returns. did not order petit déjeuner so no opinion. très accueillant. plans de ville gratuits et bon conseils offerts. en face du marché couvert avec vente d'un peu tout-fruits, legumes, poissons, viandes, fromages, pains, (pour pique-niques, mêmes habits, fleurs, souliers, literie, etc. poulet rôti délicieux dans un étal(?) dans le parc. accès par clef la nuit. pas commandé le petit déjeuner mais prix correct.

Quiet, boarding-house style establishment. Clean and comfortable but a lot of stairs to carry your luggage up. A lift would improve an already good establishment tenfold.

I stayed at Hotel Cazaux for two nights last week. A great place to stay and for its price, it is a great bargain. The owner is very very helpful and this adds a "personal touch" to this otherwise very nice and quite hotel. The hotel is located far enough from the humdrum of the Sancutary area but at the same time not to far away..it is about 10 Min walk from the Sanctuary area. You can have a TV in your room for 4 euros more/night and the breakfast(abt 6 euros) is good too. In short, if you are searching for a place to stay in Lourdes, for this price, its a really good bargain.

I stayed at Hotel Cazaux recently for 3 nights. The hotel owner was very friendly and helpful and responded to my emails quickly. The owner speaks basic English so, due to my very limited French-speaking ability, I found there was a small language barrier, but this caused no problems for me. My room was clean and the bed was comfortable but the room was fairly small and quite basic, without television or radio. This wouldn't be a problem if there was a bar or other common area in which to relax. The hotel is in a quiet area of Lourdes, however the sound insulation between rooms isn't great and I needed to use earplugs to prevent be woken by fellow guests (ignoring the noise due to the fireworks and partying of the Bastille Day celebrations!!). But of course earplugs are an essential item for any experienced traveller aren't they?! Hotel location was good for me, with several boulangeries, cafes, bars, restaurants, etc within easy walking distance, though not as many or varied as in central Lourdes of course. There's also a supermarket (Monoprix) within about 3 minutes walk. The main roads out of town in any direction are easily accessible from here by car or bicycle which I found useful. I wasn't there to visit the grotto so proximity to the cathedral wasn't important to me, but for those who are, bear in mind that it's about 10-15 minutes walk and not easily accessible if you're not physically mobile or in a wheelchair since the return journey is up a substantial hill. Parking is available on the street and in a small car park opposite the hotel and I never had any problem finding space. Overall, for the price, this is a good, reasonably comfortable hotel, with a very friendly and helpful owner.
