Just came back from a stay in Egypt. I was for 8 nights in Cataract hotel. Good things - the price/hotel ratio was very good(i booked it on the net) - huge and clean outdoor pool - good breakfast - quiet area Bad things - old bathroom - not very clean room even though the house keeping was passing by everyday - except you are close to the pyramids, the location is a bit to far away from the center/malls etc. So if you intend to spend the dream vacation and u care about the standards choose another hotel. If you are there for other reasons and u care about the ratio price/quality this is one of the best choice. this is a 3* 3 1/2* European hotel I think there were wings under construction so maybe you get a new room when u go!

It was a good value for my money.I would not pay more than $50 per night.The hotel is old and the beds are very uncomfortable.They are trying to make a double bed putting 2 single beds together. I spent 4 nights in the hotel and I finished with a sore back.

The rooms were comfortable and kept clean. Slight musty smell, but clean and nicely decorated. The food at the outdoor cafe near the pool was great and very inexpensive. Also, the breakfast was very tastey and quite alot of food considering it is complimentary. The prices for tours are negotiable, and we had a wonderful driver that would take us wherever we wanted to go, wait for us as long as needed, and give us helpful information. I would not recommend walking around the hotel--people love to honk at and mess with tourists a little bit. Nice view of the pyramids and the sunset from the roof of the hotel. i would highly recommend this hotel--it was the nicest hotel in the Giza area.

It was a great disappointment to discover that it took 25 minutes by taxi from the hotel to the Sakkara site. The hotel is excellent, but maintenance of the rooms seems to have been neglected somewhat. Especially the bathroom was somewhat old (and I am not picky). Main problem were the mosquitoes, of which there were hundreds everywhere, also, regrettably, in the room. Did not sleep much those nights. Still, I might go back there one day.
