I absolutely love this hotel! The shuttle that picks you up from the boat docks is wonderful, they even take you the 5 minute ride into town any time you want. The staff was so friendly, especially the general manager. He took the time to show us around and tell us about the city. Every time he saw us throughout our stay he was constantly checking back with us to make sure everything was as it should be. We loved the heated swimming pool and jacuzzi. My fiance and I were so relaxed the entire time, it was hard for us to go back to our busy lives in New York. We also found out it is pet friendly, so next time we are going to bring our dog. Overall, this location is perfect. So close to town, yet away from the noise. Plus, it's the closest hotel to the golf course. We couldn't ask for anything more. I am definitly coming back and recommending it to all my friends and family. Well done!

This is defiantly a hotel I would stay in again. It was nice for the price and the staff was very friendly. Having the shuttle service was a plus and great to take a quick trip down to the beach or store. Because of the limited food available at the hotel it would have been nice to have a fridge / kitchenette. The bath and body works products were a nice surprise and the pool and jacuzzi were nice to use.

I stayed at this hotel for my first trip to Catalina Island. The rooms were just ok. About the same as a motel 6. The hotel itself is rundown and furthest away from the beach. The spa looked moldy and the pool is small. The main complaint that I have about this hotel was that when we got back to our hotel in the evening our keys did'nt work. There were NO STAFF MEMBERS ON SITE! We were stranded! This happened to many others that night as well and I later learned that some guests even had to sleep in the weight room. When I spoke to the manager the next morning he did not seem to care and offered no compensation. Stay at any other hotel!

The room was ok. Too pricy. Liked the pool.

the hotel was really nice. Catalina is a small island, as Avalon is a small town. don't come here if you are looking for a 5 star resort. with that said. i will most certainly be back. the rooms are just fine, i didnt go there to spend my days and nights in the room. the pool was nice enough, because the beach is where its at. they served us drinks by the pool, which i didnt expect, but was awesome.

This hotel writes good reviews about itself giving themselves 5 stars to better their review ratings

The hotel is a little ways away from the "downtown" area, but still walkable and they had a speedy shuttle that ran regularly. The pool/hot tub was great & the bartender & server were hilarious. The only problem was the fact that we could hear everything through the walls including the people having an all out war next door. We had to call the front desk on them 4 times because they were screaming at each other & throwing things at the walls around 1-2am. oh & we woke up at about 6am to the sound of all the birds in the courtyard even though our door & window were shut.

I am in a wheelchair and told them that at time of booking Sept 2008. They did not tell me that the restaurant is only accessible by stairs, only open 8 to 11 am, they have NO ROOM SERVICE , no refrigerator or microwave, and shuttle stops running at 8:45 pm. Nothing is wheelchair accessible. I was being wheeled to the spa the first night, had to be lifted up 6 steps then we thought if was sidewalk the rest of the way. There are UNHIGHLITED steps everywhere and I fell out of my chair when we went down a step by the spa that we couldnt see and I got hurt. We filed an incident report right away and made 3 verbal requests with the front desk over the next 2 days (stayed 3 days ) to see the manager. Manager never ever showed, front desk people were rude. Room was clean and restaurant staff very nice but food was very expensive and only breakfast items available (which my helper went and got from the restaurant) were all in styrofoam. They should have told me this stuff up front but I guess booking a room meant more to them than meeting the needs of a disabled person. It was my 30 year dream to go to Catalina. I sure wish I had picked a different hotel.

We had reservations for a king bed and ended up with two queens. Then being a resort and spa we thought there wold be a refrigerator in the room. They said there wasn't one and they didn't have one. I have Pancreatic cancer and am a diabetic from surgery. My insulin needs to be cold. They did get one when we said we couldn't stay there. Than I go to use the ice bucket and there are hairs in it. How disgusting!!!!!!!!. The ice bucket was NEVER cleaned even after we use it every day. The towels were so rough and NOT soft. The room also smelled. We had a room by the pool which I didn't want. People were in the pool till 3:00AM and no one did a thing. I didn't sleep for three night. Rooms also very expensive for what you get.

Decent place that seemed unprepared for the number of guests that arrived. Room was okay, but several lights in the place were out. You wonder how the cleaning staff could actually clean in the bathroom with the lights out...LOL

Great, the room was well appointed nice size and very clean. The free shuttle service was very nice, we could come and go. The free shuttle from the boat was very good. The grounds was well kept. Yes we would definetly stay there again

Nice clean room and very comforatable beds. Pool was kind of small for the number of people at the resort and had a ton of chlorine. It was crystal clear water though, how could it not be with that much chlorine. Not very close to Avalon and you have to take a shuttle unless you are in top physical condition. Difficult walkup the hill, not so bad coming down. Although it is a free shuttle, plan on tipping the drivers every time. Not close to beach or shopping. I think next time I will stay closer to town so that I don't have to wait for a shuttle. Wonderful drinks and fun bartender.

For the price we paid and the star rating of the resort we were sadly dissapionted. Arriiving off the ferry we had to wait at least almost 40 minutes for the shuttle to, the Hotel features says 5 - 15 minute wait (apparently they only have one van and one driver for each 8 hour shift) The shuttle delay occurred again when 20 people were returning to the resort in the afternoon at the same time we were. We needed to get to the resort and change from beach clothes to warmer clothes for a cruise in the evening. we had one hour. we got to pick up point one hour and thirty minutes before the cruise. but it took over 40 minutes to get half of the people up to the resort. We had to go to the gift shops and BUY jackets that we already had but could not retrieve because the resort has some arrangement the taxi service to not transport their guests When we first checked in to our room it was musty smelling not vaccumed under the beds (food crumbs) and no bath towels. The pool was nice but the hot tub usable but in extreme disrepair. The showers and changing rooms were open with no doors. The bathrooms for the pool area werent cleaned for the 3 days we were at the resort. The restraunt has good food well prepared and tasty but the housekeeping was again poor. the resort was overall in disrepair ( it could be a really beautiful place), So much for a Spa, we wanted to book a massage but after seeing the housekepping standards and the maintenence neglect we changed our minds. we give it one star for pleasant staff and desent food.

Wanted a nice family get-away but it turned into a loud party night with a group of people screaming and yelling until 2:00 AM. Calls to management went unanswered. Rude front desk. Shuttle (this hotel is a long walk up hill from the center of town) was infrequent. Never going back to this hotel.

I booked a room in March for a three night stay in August. Never received confirmation, even after asking twice. Right before the trip, they tried to raise my room rate, but I gave the name of the employee who gave me the lower rate and it was finally lowered. BUT...when we went to check in, the room that was promised to me was "not available." They ended up giving us a cheaper room, but did not lower the price. The front desk employee was rude, combative, and argumentative, not only with us, but other guests of the hotel as well. You are NOT treated like a guest at this hotel, but like a nuisance. The location is very bad. It is up a long, steep hill. They do have a shuttle, but sometimes it's over a 30 minute wait to get it. And in the August heat, you have to take the shuttle to take you into town, because it is HOT! The hotel lacked clean towels. Don't know why there was such a short supply. We are a family of four, and were given one clean towel. I called the front desk several times (got the angry front desk lady twice), but it took hours before we finally got some towels. House keeping left the housekeeping cart in the middle of the hallway all day long one day, so we had to keep squeezing by it. There are better hotels at Catalina. Next time I'll try either Hotel St. Lauren or the Pavillian Lodge.

the people seemed nice in my opion we were treated very well. the only thing is the far distants to town. when we asked for a driver they were very happy to accomadate us. suggestion let people rent a golf cart at a good rate. yes we would go back.

The hotel feels a little run down, and it is inconveniently located away from the shore. They have an excellent free shuttle that continuously runs to ferry terminal and to the beach, which makes up for the location. The pool was nice.

The Catalina Canyon Resort and Spa is a quiet place above the town if Avalon. It may be a bit of a hike from all the action, but their shuttle service ran regularly, and we never had to wait more than a couple of minutes to get a ride downtown or back to the hotel. They provided two suitcase stands and a large closet as well as an iron, ironing board, and hair dryer. Having a pool, spa, and lovely dining room allows you to have several choices if you want to spend some of your day away from the town. It's a very small distance to the local golf course as well.
