Yes, it is a little shabby in the details, but overall this was a great hotel for traveling on a budget with 22-year old and 13-year old granddaughters. It is on the south end of Waikiki, and everything is within walking distance, including the beach and great restaurants. We upgraded to a Diamond Head Studio with kitchenette and two double beds. We were on the 17th floor and could see both Diamond Head and the ocean. The street noise is loud, but it's a city, so deal with it. We managed to get a good night's sleep every night with the sliding glass door open. The breeze was wonderful and far outweighed the city bustle's noise. Surprisingly, the room looked exactly like the pictures. The housekeeping and front desk staff were wonderful. Slow elevator, but it's Hawaii. We did not venture into the restaurant as it was always empty. We also didn't venture into the swimming pool area because it was small and scary. As a grandma, I would have swum in a nicer pool and that would be the only reason I would consider a different hotel next time I return on a budget. Other than that, we knew we were traveling cheap, and were very pleased with what we got for the money.

For the rate this hotel an excellent buy. The room was clean and everything worked. The cooling system maintained a desirable comfort level. The bed was a little soft for my comfort level. It was fine for my wife. The food in the restaurant was good and reasonably priced. The only negative experience i had with my stay at Ocean Resorts was the valet parking. There did not appear to be enough people during peak times, ie in the morning when people were getting their cars for the day, and in the afternoon when everyone was returning. It was especially difficult when people were checking in at the same time cars were being returned for the evening. One afternoon I waited in line for over an hour to get my car parked. I realize the parking is separate from the hotel, but a bad experience here reflects on the hotel. In my opininon the problem could be resolved by bringing an additional person in during peak times. I do not blame the individual doing the parking, they were running their legs off. I think it is a management problem. Otherwise, I consider my stay at this hotel a good experience.

My boyfriend and I decided to spend 4th of July in Waikiki. We weren't looking for an expensive or a luxurious hotel, so we looked for the most economic hotel we could find in Waikiki. In all, we paid for what we got. We checked in, the first room we went to smelt like smoke, so the front desk changed our room. The 2nd room we got was better, but we were locked out of the room the keycard didn't work and the front desk needed to request the service of maintenance. Finally, we got in the room. It was quite small, but the air conditioner worked great. It was a hot day in Waikiki. The room wasn't much to look at, but it was sufficient. In all, you pay for what you get. Would I stay there again??? probably. The room was pretty cheap ($73 a night) and the parking was reasonable at $15 for 24 hours, because most places in Waikiki are $20+ a night. Truthfully, the orbitz rate was better than the kamaaina rate, so I went with orbitz.

Close to my run location. Old, small, ugly. Yuck.

Rooms are a good size with balconies. Unfortunately, there is no tea/coffee making facilities in the standard room, nor any boiling water available. I DO NOT recommend the restaurant. I had breakfast once (small portions and barely tepid) and one evening meal (overcooked and again tepid). Nevertheless, a good hotel for the price in a quiet but convenient location.

This place is so run down it's not even funny! Our room flooded 3am and they didn't help us move our baggs. The parking attendant was so rude and all she did was complain about the Hotel and the staff. The pool area was nothing like the picture and just run down as well. I wouldn't have any one stay here even if it was free.

I have stayed in hawaii many times and would have to say this is my least favorite hotel. It was Ok but sometimes my Wife and I didnt feel safe walking back to or hotel after 10pm. The staff didnt seem to have a clue about whats going on. We called for towels one day and pillows the next and niether were ever brought to us. You have to pay to use the safe and in this place you really want to use the safe cause it looks shady. But we knew what we were getting so it was managable. DO not come here for any type of romantic vacation. If you wanna save a few bucks and dont plan on being at the place very much then I would say do it.

Great location. Our room had a kitchenette. First thing we did was go to the market. Saved so much money on meals by cooking ourselves. The room had 2 queen beds. It felt like our own studio apt in Waikiki. Parking is a bummer though, if you cant find a space you have to pay $15.oo a day to park in a lot.

Convenience and accessibility to Waikiki beach and shopping. Lack of parking space at hotel. We've stayed here before and love the area. We like to go to the beach and walk around.

We had a city view room which gave us glimpses of the sea through buildings. Very close to the beach, a bus stop 50 metres away, plenty of restaurants close by, the tour desk was very helpful. The pool wasn't startling ( it was too cold to swim) the beach is about 2 minutes walk I would recommend this hotel

The Castle Ocean Hotel was perfect for what I needed. I was on a short trip to visit my daughter who's a freshman at the University.? This hotels not fancy and a little worn, but so am I. My room was clean and the bed comfortable and with the lanai not cramped. The entire staff was helpful and friendly. I was traveling alone and the easy going Hawaiian attitude left me feeling refreshed. There's lots to do, short walking distance to a beautiful park with tennis and the aquarium / zoo. The beach with surfing two blocks away and lots of restaurants and shopping. I booked online a shuttle from the airport to the hotel and back for $20 with VIP transportation, they picked me up at the baggage claim area. I walked and took the bus most of the time around town, but rented a car one day to drive around the island, again picked up and dropped off at the hotel this time by Dollar rent a car. If you want to keep extra money in your pocket for fun and dinning out and not spend it on a room then I'd recommend this hotel. You can visit, eat and hang out at any of the fine hotels anytime and they're happy to have you. Remember that this is a busy, easy going city on the water with traffic and air conditioniers running all the time so it's a little noisy for everyone no matter where your staying..It was a lot of fun..

Location and view from our room were great but otherwise this hotel was pretty gross. Floor was did not seem clean and the ceiling in the shower was dirty. My daughter and I walked around in flip flops. The bed was hard with wimpy pillows and the hair dryer looked 30 years old. This hoel was not at all what I thought it would be. Don't waste your time or money!!!

Not a lot of facilities at the hotel but friendly helpful staff. Studio room was very large and comfortable in the Pali tower. Great location, easy short walk to beaches and shops and felt safe at night walking home. Would stay there again and recommend to friends.

My wife and I have stayed at this hotel 5 different times and have always enjoyed the experience. Though it isn't a 5 star hotel, I's clean, convenient to the beach (2 blocks), on the corner accross the street from the bus stop (frequent busses to the Ala Moana Mall and anyplace else you want to go), and walking distance to the International Market Place (maybe 7 blocks). If we go to Hawaii again, this is the place we'll stay.

Our stay here was okay. The room was very outdated and definitely needs renovations and somehow we ended up with 2 double beds, which was way to small for a couple. The restaurant was not that great, cheap but food was too greasy. The location to the beach was good, only a couple minutes walk. Overall, might stay again if we were on a budget.
