I was really impressed by the Castelar Hotel. Our room was lovely and quaint (loved the bathroom) and the service was also good - special mention should go to Gabriel, one of the desk staff, who was really helpful. And we got a double bed, as we had asked - thank you! My only complaint was the way the eggs were cooked, a bit too runny for my liking!

Grand hotel, large rooms, a lot of character, maybe a little dated but very good value for money

The Castelar Hotel is perfectly located next to a subwaystation "subte". Also you find good restaurants if you turn left just outside the hotel. We enjoyed staying there and would certainly come back. The breakfast is good. We would like the drinkcard improved, so that you can injoy a nice quiet drink in the evening.

The spa was fabulous, manicures and pedicures were of top quality and the lady doing them was very professional. Unfortunately we were unable to book a massage for the whole week though even though the service was advertised. The room was small and quite different from the ones pictured on the website but very clean. Buffet breakfast was nice and location was very central.

The rooms were in poor shape and the air con very noisy. The foyer is lovely and the ambience of the hotel is very nice. However, it desparately needs renovation of rooms. I would not stay again for those reasons. Staff were very helpful.

The location is perfect, but the Castelar Hotel Buenos Aires is not 4 stars as it shows. The bathroom is very, very old, staff is ok, breakfest is ok. Get in mind that you pay for a 2 stars hotel

The hotel is undergoing renovation. All public areas are have been done. I made 3 visits and all rooms were comfortable and clean. Bathrooms in two had been renewed and the 3rd was a small shower room but perfectly acceptable. All did need redecoration. I would not hesitate to return. As a single female I felt quite safe in the area and it was very central.

The Hotel does not have a good Internet system, so for business traveller is a real problem, also the check out timing is no the most adequated (10:00 hrs)

The hotel was old and needed updating but clean. Good location. The helpfulness of the staff was sometimes questionable. Most likely I would stay here again.

Rooms facing Av De Mayo are very noisey indeed - several sleepless night in spite of staff moving us around. Windows need overhaul and double or secondry glazing to be fitted. Rooms are dog eared and shud be redecorated in the character of the hotel - it has loads and is wasted at present. More than one internet PC is needed.

The first room we were assigned to was in very poor condition. There was paint peeling off the ceiling in very large chunks - particularly in the bathroom. I sat on the bed and it was squeaky and felt lumpy. We asked for another room and got one with a much better bed and only minor peeling paint. The spa, gym, etc. is separate for men and women. The men's section had exercise equipment, however, the women's section had only two cardio machines and nothing else. The facilities were geared towards people wanting to be pampered - not getting exercise.
