We stayed at the Clarion for 2 nights, booked it for it's proximity to Ocean Ave and price in relation to other hotels in the area. The room itself was cramped but the comfort and size of the bed was excellent. The bathroom was nicely tiled in stone throughout with a very nice high and large showerhead that accomodated my 6'4 husband far better than most (no tub, standing only). There is no counter space save for the area immediately around the sink which leaves no room for toilletries. We had a good laugh over the incredibly loud flush of the toilet which sounds like a jet engine - avoid use during the night! Avoid this hotel if you do not plan to be in bed by 10pm and awake by 6am as the noise level in the room is intolerable at all other hours. The second floor where we stayed is accessed by a wooden plank walkway (rather than concrete that most hotels with outdoor 2nd floor access have) that amplifies the noise of people walking by. The walls in the room were very thin and we clearly heard the normal shuffling around of our neighbors in the rooms surrounding ours. The TV was a small 15 inches with a VCR that accompanies it. At 8am the hotel staff drops a breakfast basket with pastries, juice, fruit and cereal off in front of your door - this was by far the best part of our stay. The exterior of the hotel is cute and they have a 2nd floor general patio area where you can enjoy the outdoors. We wouldn't stay again due to the noise and size, but it is considerable option for the location and price.

The bed was great/free breakfast in a basket & newspaper. Stuff room and thin walls. Perhaps if we were not surrounded by neighbors on both sides it may have been more enjoyable. The staff was great that we encountered. I wanted an iron and staff brought it right away with an ironing board. The room was quite clean and the bathroom was recently upgraded it appeared. The hotel is in walking distance of everything we needed.

Excellent value for money in a convenient location to down town. Nothing I did not like about this hotel. After viewing several hotel rooms for the evening in question, there is no doubt that this hotel was what we were looking for. Very clean and updated, attractively furnished and decorated, and conveniently located. Unlike many hotels in this area, no pets are allowed at this hotel, so the carpets and flooring are clean and stain free! Will definitely return.

Breakfast was substantial and delivered to us the night before due to our early departure. Someodor in the room noticeable upon entry. Overall we were pleased with the room. The decor was very old-fashioned and old lady like but clean and suitable for a one night stay. I probably wouldn't stay longer than this. There was a slightly unpleasant odor in the room that was noticeable upon entering but that became unnoticeable pretty fast. An okay place, no real complaints.

Comfortable bed, WiFi andlocation. The delivered breakfast was poor quality or not what we liked. Too small room for longer stays, but for a one night, that was okay. The bathroom was only partially completed, plaster patches on the wall were not painted. If they are renovating, they might want to rent out a completed room. The decor had a very weird mixture of craftsman lighting, early 60's wood pieces, some chintz. They should consult a decorator! The location was the best. The breakfast was cornflakes and plastic pastry. How hard would it have been to served granola, yogurt, muffins and maybe a banana? The basket idea was cute, but the contents were returned to the office and we walked down the street to a great breakfast place. We appreciated the WiFi and the bed was fairly comfortable. The light switches put off so much light in the small room that we had to cover it up when it was time for sleep. I have never seen such light switch plates in a hotel.

Great location. The bathroom had new tile on the floor and half way up the wall but the paint was falling off the wall above it. Our room had a fireplace that was plugged in, it look like it had been an afterthought. You could not see the TV from the bed very well. Breakfast came to the door in a cute picnic basket in the morning.

Fantastic location. Clean and updated bathroom. Window faced public walkway, needed to draw curtains for privacy. Fantastic location, right next to excellent restaurants, conventient grocery store, art galleries, just blocks from the beach. Clean and updated room amenities. Great price to value ratio.

Cute appointments and really hot showers. TV was small and not sound proofed enough. Never stayed in Carmel before but was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the room for the price. The room was very charming and the bathroom was clean and well appointed. No tub but I'm a shower person anyway. The shower had excellent pressure, which isn't always the fact in hotels. The hotel is located around the corner from The Hog's Breath Inn and within walking distance of an excellant market. All in all, an excellent experience.

The hotel staff was friendly and helpful rooms were cozy. The parking was extremely cramped towncar almost blocked the entrance. The hotel was extremely cozy me and my girlfriend had an excellent experience Casanovas was so romantic and a must! Downtown carmel was a short block away and the Nielson market deli is a secret surprise! All in all we loved our trip and the cozy basket breakfast only added to our delight!

I loved the location. I loved the patio area but the furniture could have been cleaned for dust/dirt. Our TV remote was broken. There was no DVD player. There was no closet.

Comfortable mattress and pillows, nice breakfast, modern bathroom, great central Carmel location, great value for the price. WiFi internet speed was very slow, some web pages timed out for me without opening. This is a very comfortable hotel in a great location with a price that is a great value. I would stay here again and recommend it to others.

Convenient, shops and restaurants at the door. Sorry, cannot think of anything. Location. This place has it at a good value. We had a lot of fun!
