The Hotel staff was very nice & helpful. Beds are very comfortable but hotel rooms are small and the bathroom needs updated. Right in the middle of downtown Carmel with a 10 minute walk to the Ocean. Overall experience was very good.

Very clean and very professional services overall compared to other Carmel places I've stayed. Plush beds (different from last year). Across the street from Casanova's which is a great restaurant in Carmel, plus a pretty great steak house on site. Best thing besides comfort is the location (right downtown and in the middle of everything) and the parking (on - site).

I stayed here twice in September 2008. The first weekend I stayed, I had a deluxe King room on the second floor in the "secondary" building (not the main building where the office is). The room was amazing - completely updated with very high end fixtures, linens, etc. The room had a mini-fridge and a vanity separate from the bathtub / toilet room. The was bed SO comfortable, it was difficult to want to get out of it! On my second stay I took my dog, so the room that we got was a lot less desirable. They did their best to welcome my dog, leaving a bag of treats in the room and some bowls for food & water. However, the only room available for us (since I had the dog) was a very small musky queen sized room right next to the office. There was a lot of foot traffic and the occasional headlights coming through the windows. This room had obviously not been updated like the deluxe King that I'd stayed in just a couple weeks prior. However, even though the room had not been updated, the bed was still amazing! You couldn't ask for a better location than where the Lodge is located. It's right on the edge of downtown Carmel, so everything is within walking distance - shops, restaurants, the beach - everything. The hotel was relatively quiet once everyone was settled into their rooms. The staff was very friendly & maid service was excellent. If you do visit the Lodge and you like Chinese food - you must visit the little place that's one block down from the hotel. The name escapes me, but the food was excellent and the price was right!
