The staff were friendly, but they really need help with their English speaking skills. This was a little frustrating at check-in and at dinner and breakfast. The hotel was beautiful, and very clean. The bed was the most restful I've ever slept in. Really like the type of coffee maker in the room. I suggest having half regular coffee and half decaf coffee pods, not all decaf. Shower head had a problem, and a little bit of green mold starting to appear in caulking ....a pity. I would stay again.......thank you.

I liked the lobby decor and the friendliness of staff. The rooms did not feel cozy and felt very office like.

We were moved to this hotel due to our prior reservation not being honored by the Savoy Inn. Customer service was poor at best and were difficult to understand. Hotel had very few ammenities with a very small lobby and bar. We were told the hotel was new but the building had to be at least 100 years old. Parking was difficult to access and probably only had 10 parking spots for the building.

In a word, wonderful. For the location, so close to Dupont Circle, the price is very reasonable. Our room was one of the suites, which was very large and comfortably outfitted, including a refrigerator, coffee maker, couch, small dining table and desk. Room and maid service were very accommodating, and the reserved parking was an unexpected surprise. This hotel is not as well-known as others in the area (according to our daughter who lives down the street), but it was the best, accommodations and value-wise, we've experienced.

Great location, comfortable beds. No towel bars. Nice location, easy walks to Metro. Within walking distance to many restaurants, bars, shops. Area felt very safe, lots of people out walking at most times of the day. We enjoyed having a small kitchen in the room. Worked out great with kids.

The receptionist during check-in was rude, arrogant, disrepectful and a bit self-absorbed. He was very rude during the entire check-in and not accomodating at all to my needs at the time. The service was awful. However, there was one desk clerk that was very polite and helpful. Unfortunately he worked the late shift at the hotel.

We were visiting our daughter that lives in the neighborhood for Easter weekend. The first room we were given was wonderful with the exception that the air conditioning hadn't been turned on for the season. I called the front desk and was told to open a window, but the room didn't have a window that could be opened. We stayed two nights in this room before they could move us to another room. Great places to eat and drink in the area. Walked to the White House in about 20 minutes. Area felt very safe and friendly.

The rooms were adequate for a business traveler. The public spaces are inconvenient owing to ongoing construction work and there is no internet in the rooms. I think the Carlyle Suites is adequate for a business traveler; however it has certain drawbacks, i.e. no internet in the rooms and construction in the public spaces.

For the price, I expected better service (I needed scissors to open a box; was told they didn't have any). Rooms are stylish. First floor has no privacy to street/alley (windows aren't frosted). Very limited parking.

Visited DC area with a friend to visit other friends/family for the weekend. The check-in process was fast, no problems. The room was cute...had a kitchenette and a unique stand-up shower which I had no seen before a hotel. The room itself was a bit smaller that expected. The view (or lack there of) was of an adjacent building. The room offered only a mini/half of iron board. The parking was probably my biggest disapointment. The hotel features indicated free self parking. Well the hotel does actually have a parking lot. Instead, the offer parking in the back of their building which crams about 10 cars back there is also parking for adjacent buildings (that are not hotel spots). There is no entrance to the hotel from back there. They have several signs posted indicating parking at your own risk. This gave a very unsafe feel. So instead, we chose to find parking on the streets. Had it not been for the weekend stay this would have been an issue. If you are not driving, then you will probably have very little complaints about this hotel.

The Carlyle has good rates in a great location, but even prepaying for a suite didn't mean I was able to stay there. I went sent to the grubbier, smaller and noisier Savoy Suites on Wisconsin Ave, as were several of my colleagues. The staff at Carlyle was very unhelpful, and did not offer any refund, discount, or even apology. None of my colleagues will dare reserve a room there again.

The art deco style of this hotel makes it charming. The friendliness of the staff and the proximity to so many restaurants and sights lets us know that this will be our go-to place to stay in D.C.!

we have been staying at the carlyle at least three time a year for about 15 years. we love it because most of the rooms are suites with refrigerators, stoves, microwaves, coffee makers etc. it is a really nice location near dupopnt circle and the metro so that anything in dc is just a short metro ride away. i recommend it highly for the location and for the art deco style which we really like. it is clean and the staff friendly and very willing to help.

Very comfortable place to stay, staff were friendly. Recent updates are great, bathroom and kitchen amenities made it feel like home. Easy access to free high speed internet. Great location in the city. Only draw back was the construction at night, was somewhat disturbing -- but comfortable bed made up for it.

The bartender was arguably the least communicative about prices and offerings than I've ever seen -- maybe a bad day. Then my non-smoking room started clouding up with cigar smoke from the vents as I got ready for bed around 9:30 p.m. The clerks at the front desk offered me another room, which meant I had to repack and move. Then the door key to the new room didn't work. When I finally got in, all TV channels were fuzzy. The key didn't work on my return from breakfast the next morning, either. I was glad that I was there for only one night.

The Carlyle Suites are a good bargain. The staff is friendly and helpful, but not intrusive. It was very quiet, until about 9 in the morning. Construction was going on in one part of the hotel, and obviously the workers got started about that time. But I never heard a sound coming from any other room or the hallway. The public restrooms that normally serve the restaurant area were locked (I assume because of the construction), and one had to go to the main desk (in another part of the hotel) to get the key. This was a pain. The only drawbacks to the room were in the kitchen area. Each room apparently has a small kitchenette, and this is a selling point of the hotel. I am a short individual (around 5 foot tall). The kitchen cabinets and microwave were above my head. So, had I planned on cooking in the room, this would have been a major problem. As it was, I hadn't planned on cooking, so it wasn't an issue. The refrigerator was below the counter, so it was easily accessible. The bed was very comfortable. I tried the restaurant for one meal, and the food there was very good. I liked the fact the hotel is in a residential neighborhood. I like to walk in the late afternoons, and there were many residents out walking, jogging and bicycling in the area, so I felt quite quite safe. I did not try out the gym that the hotel said was available about 5 blocks away. Security at the hotel was good. The front doors were locked at night, so be prepared to knock on the door if checking in late (as I had to do because my flight didn't arrive until midnight).

The rooms are smallish but very comfortable and attractive. The decor is very fun. The location is wonderful. It's an easy walk to the Dupont Circle metro. We got in at seven am and they let us check in early, which was wonderful after the awful flight we'd had. I was dissapointed that they didn't have on-demand movies...come on, that's what makes it feel like a vacation. Also, the room service is very limited (no breakfast, not so good desserts) and you have to go down and pick it up yourself on Sundays. Oh, and they were renovating while we were there, so the lobby was a NIGHTMARE. The dust was awful.
