The owner and staff services did not speak English. The owner gave the internet access key [...] , told me the services would be on Tuesday morning. I tried everyday no internet services. I asked for direction for breakfast, dinner could not speak English to help me. I never seen the maid service bring their kids to work and follow them around while cleaning the rooms. I was afraid to leave my things in the room I paid for!!!!

Somewhat close to my destination. The staff was horrible. Do not stay here! I know it's tempting, since it's by far the cheapest hotel in the area. It's not worth it. I was upset that they got any of my money at all. The room was dirty, the neighborhood was scary (and I'm not easily frightened by bad neighborhoods - I'm used to staying in downtown LA, no problem)- this was by far the worst hotel experience of my life.

the rooms were very nice, yes they were small but what else do you need a room for to sleep rest and shower so no need of a big room, rooms were clean seemd like they just remoulded, the hotel was in the middle of all these nice multi million dollar homes and a country culb witch made it a nice and save place to park, as soon as we pulled in we were worryd about our car but when we saw the parking lot there were so many BMW and BENZ and like two Hummers that we knew if there cars are save and they would stay at this hotel why wouldnt are car be safe and why wouldnt this hotel work for us? Anyways at the end everything worked out people at the hotel were nice and helped you in every manner and the hotel was nice as well.....would love to stay here and i think the hotel rate is underpriced for its vaule,,,,keep it up Staff at The Carlton Motel.....Thanks for a good time...see you soon.

We stayed two nights in this quaint little motel. The owner was quite stalkish, watching EVERYTHING we did. We had two bikes, and he initially told us we could not put them in the room, but we insisted we were not leaving them outside. It seemed clean, but on the second night, a cockroach crawled over our heads on the ceiling then feel on the floor. We eventually found it and killed it, but that was extremely gross. They had free wi-fi and gave us water bottles in the room. No ice machine. The mattress was pretty hard and uncomfortable.

I was just satisfied with the location. The room was reeked with cigarette smoke smell. I will never recommend this hotel to anyone. I asked for a non-smoking room and I did not get one. I told the manager I want to change room because I will get sick with the smell but he said it is a non-smoking room and said that the smell comes from the carpet. Since I was staying for only one night I didn't complain any further. I did not get to sleep at all and coughed the whole night.

We stayed at this hotel recently. It's so small and far for everything, especially the beach. Anyone notice the good reviews had similar comments...especially the wrong spellings. Let's have some honest reviewers here.

We decided to try this small, older motel because reviews said it was clean and had plasma TV. Our room was VERY small (think Motel 6) and the TV was of limited use since there was no channel guide provided even though we asked for one. Local reception was snowy . . . and we never did find the HBO channel. Someone from management came to the room when we asked for help, wiggled some wires, pressed some buttons on the remote, and then told us that it was working fine. The motel is fair value for the money, but certainly not a "hidden treasure".

Nothing. The manager was a jerk. Everything. The staff were very unfriendly and rude. The sheets were not clean and smelled old. The water pressure was poor and the min fridge was disgusting.

I book a room online after reading the reviews online the hotel was a nice small hotel 20 rooms or so I would say also very clean and helpfull and the most importent thing safe and quite. The price was great I personaly think the rooms should be coin for a lot than they are but think it's great that they are at a reasonable price. I rather pay more there than another hotel when I am back in long beach. People traveling with there wife don't worry my wife found the hotel outstanding as well. One thing I did like was the lcd tv in the room nice touch guys keep it up.

we stayed at the hotel for 6 nights for a convation that was in town. there were many more hotels but they were just so much more than this one, in the back of my mind i thought that since this hotel was less than the other ones there might be something wrong with it but thought we might as well give it a shot. we got there from the convation center witch is about 2 km away, and got our room, and when we walked in it was very clean and up to date with plasma t.vs and the beds were very comfortable and my wife thought it was just like home beacuse they dont use the comfoters that all the other hotels use they use the ones that we would use at home looked and felt very nice too and they there were like 7 pillows haha witch my loved..its a small hotel but very quit and clean and thats the most importent thing to us. will go here again no matter what next time im in long beach.

Parking and the T.V. Not very nice-found hair and dirt in bathroom. Small but parking was nice. Could be much better if room was cleaner. Needs Better decor!

The room was small, but adquate for sleep. The area where the motel is located was safe...which was a big concern. Only issue was the AC, was loud. Plenty of parking! I would stay there again!

we were in town and all the other hotels were booked for some convation...and so we saw this hotel only had one room left and booked it beacuse we didnt have any other way around it and i booked the room for 4 nights and only needed to stay 3, i called travel agency and they said there was nothing that could be done and its up to the hotel, went to the front desk and asked for X and with no problem refuned the money back to my card..and saved me a lot of money, the hotel is a small but very well kept hotel you can tell they want the best for the guest, only hotel iv been to with plasma t.vs i was shocked and the rooms are clean new carpet and nice crown moulding....if im ever in town will come here again.

Nothing. Exremely unfriendly and unhelpful staff, felt unsafe and lost. Would not choose this hotel again. We expected a small economy hotel, but not this level of un safeness. We were greeted by a very unfriendly owner who practically yelled at us because we were 15 minutes early for check in. He also could not answer any of our questions. After driving for 6 hours we just wanted a place to relax. This place was not it. This place is also seconds away from Compton if you don't drive in the right direction. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

This hotel manager/owner is the worst I have ever encountered! The hotel is small so he's always watching you and never allows for any privacy. It makes for an extremely uncomfortable stay. I understand surveillance for security purposes but this goes beyond that. There was an instance where I pulled back my curtain and he was outside my window just staring in, I wondered how long he had been out there. He watches your every move. To make matters worse, he is extremely rude and will not work with you on anything. Another downside was that you couldn't check in until 3 pm under any circumstances. Checkout was at 10 am. That was quite inconvenient for me as I wanted to leave my things in the room before driving to downtown Los Angeles in order to avoid anything lost or stolen but not being able to get in until after 3 was horrible, that's well into the afternoon. So I had no choice but to lug my stuff all over town with me until I returned to the room later that night. They advertised internet but it is only accessible with a password. So you have to try and find the owner or his wife, they are the only two that work there, to get the password. Thing is the internet signal is so weak all over the hotel that you won't be able to get online. Don't even entertain the thought of bringing over any guests because he will charge you $* a person! There are no rooms that will accommodate more than 2 people. I stayed in a shady area in inglewood for the same price and I almost couldn't wait to get back.

I would absolutely discourage anyone from booking at the Carlton Motel in Long Beach. We booked at a time that rooms were hard to find. When we arrived we were told that I personally had called and canceled my reservation. I had not. Long story short they could only honor my reservation if I paid a rate of $* per night, original rate was $*. This room was in no stretch of the imagination worth that. The pictures posted are very misleading. The bed cover was old and snagged up. Generally dingy. And frankly I'm confused by the other reviews and wonder if they are legitimate submissions. It was hard to believe any establishment would pull this kind of dishonest move and take advantage of travelers knowing that finding other accommodations would be a challenge. But with the help of an agent from the online travel agency, we found other suitable lodging.

We booked our room through the Internet. I feel advertising on the Internet was dishonest. If the Carlton Motel Long Beach had the qualities advertised on the Internet we would have been happy to stay. With Long Beach traffic, it was quite a ways to tourist attractions or dining. There was an odor in the room that I could not tolerate with my asthma. There was basically no place to put our luggage and we would have had to step on our luggage to walk around the room. There was no comfortable place to sit. We opted not to stay there and the owner did not refund any money to my charge. The owner also denied we ever cancelled the reservation. There are nicer hotels in downtown Long Beach for less money.
