Would not cash a US$ travellers cheque at the front - Told us to go 2 blocks away! Location is great - We stayed in room 127 with two queen beds which were clean and well made. Bathroom is very small : Taps on the sink were loose and in danger of breaking away from their mounting; shower curtain was dirty, toilet seat was attached by one bolt only and it moved all the time. Flush mechanism leaked constantly. Very poor lighting in the bedroom and a roll blind kept the light out, but we were unable to raise it for fear of breaking the wheel mounting as it was so stiff. Very loud music played all day and much of the evening - Most annoying, and nobody was able to reduce it. We payed an average of $79/night which is good for South Beach - If I got a better room I would stay there again only because of its great location - Don't expect great service or facilities, but if you get one of the ok rooms it's tolerable.

Iliked the pool and the location and held our bags while we went to the beach. Idid not like the mold in the shower the air conditioner leaking on the floor and the rude staff and owner and so much noise from the street. Iwould not stay in this hotel ever again it was moldy in the shower and on the carpet. the air conditioner was leaking on the floor next to my bag, and when we tried to tell theowner he said this is south beach its a party city so whatever, and no door man to help us with the bag don't go there unless you are desperate.

Unfriendly night staff (more indifferent than unfriendly); limited breakfast (included in price); musty rooms (we asked to be moved and they obliged). We had booked 3 rooms and the King corner room was the best. In one room, we were afraid the bathroom sink would fall on our feet. This hotel definitely needs a major overhaul and friendlier, more helpful staff.

The hotel was in an excellent location, but the disturbing noises make my stay there painful.

I just got back from South Beach last night. Stayed at the Carlton and thought it was just "okay". Supposedly they recently did rennovations, but what I could tell- they didn't. The rooms were fairly clean except that they were very blahh. Walls were just plain white and there was very, very lighting in room which only made it more dreary. On their site they claim to have cd players, black out shades, and a mini refrigerator in every room- only this was not the case. As well, there was construction going on directly in front of our room (literally) so we were woken up at 7 a.m. for 2 days straight. Walls and celiling are paper thin so you can hear the people walking above you- and listen to their conversations through the walls. Air conditioning was good and they did come to make beds and change towels everyday (although there was a surcharge for this everday which was applied @ end of trip). Pool was usually dirty with stuff floating around in the water. Cushions on lounge chairs as well as the chairs in the front lobby/porch area were filthy. - Like I said, not sure where the recent rennovations were made?? I guess overall though, we got a good deal so I wasn't expecting to stay at the "Ritz" Carlton. You get what you pay for.

Did not enjoy at all.. Orbitz has usually not led me astray... This hotel would be better suited for Spring Breakers in Panama City

This little Art Deco hotel is in a great location it is just one block from the very expensive hotels so the area is good. The beach is truly only a block away. The hotel has beach chairs and beach towells for your use and we never had a problem with them running out of either. Food and parking in this area is quite expensive. The hotel had a continenal breakfast that you could purchase but we felt it was expensive for what you got, we never really found a place for breakfast. Parking at the hotel was very limited although there was a public garage about a block away. The hotel is old but has been cleverly decorated and is quite charming. The room was clean, we were comfortable and I believe it was a good value for this area. There was a lot of activity on both Collins and Ocean Streets and we felt very comfortable on both of these streets. Washington Street drew a rougher crowd although during the day we did not feel uncomfortable. Ocean Street had a lot of sidewalk restaurants and of course fronts to the ocean. Collins had mostly hotels and shops. The beach was beautiful in this area and we had a great time swimming and playing in the water. We found a Cuban restaurant on the corner of 7th and Collins that was reasonably priced and the food was excellent. I don't remember the name but give it a try you will love it the food is yummy. While we were at the hotel we only had three channels on the TV. We were told that a storm had knocked the channels out but they never came back up while were were there. This didn't really matter to us but if you had children it might matter a lot.

Location to s beach. Rooms are old anddirty. If you are young or want to travel (cheap), this is the place to crash. Leave the hotel and see all of Miami.

The hotel has only 3 floors. The reception and entrance to the hotel is kind of strange. You walk in to the bar(2 tables), rather than reception. The reception people are not too friendly and were unable to provide much guidance. If you get a room by the elevator you will hear noise most of the night, especially around 4am, when people get back from the clubs. The bed was comfortable. There is NO fridge! The pool is nice and can be used anytime during the day. Parking is limited(extremely). On the good side, the hotel is close to the beach. They provide you with beach chairs and towels(they are small). The room is in fairly good shape. If you are in search of a somewhat affordable place and you do not want luxury, this can be a good place for you.

Funky deco hotel in great location. I had teenagers with me and it was S. Beach - but they had a pool party in the middle of the afternoon for sexy body/girl on girl/couples/girl action. Bathroom was not well cleaned, the sink was cracked, the tub wouldn't drain, the shower curtain had black mildew on it. There was a black iron burn in the middle of the carpet. The room floors were not secured from the lobby and were fully accessible by walking up either of the two staircases which was disconcerting due to the pool party. I travel a lot for work and this is a major security failure. They did have wireless internet which was nice ($10 "resort fee") and you could tell the hotel was making an effort to look nice - but the very old building needed at least decent carpeting/flooring to bring it up to average.

Location. No electricity in some of the rooms, had to reassign some of our group. Kind of a bare bones hotel. Clean, small rooms, but fine if you plan on not spending a bunch of time in your room. Close to good restaurants, shopping and beach.

My boyfriend and I took a trip out here last minute and decided to stay here because everywhere else was booked...We were very happy with our room (119) we were told that the King size corner rooms were the best, they are more than double the size of the other rooms. The bed was very comfortable and the room was clean. The only problem we ran into was that the air conditioner was spitting out ice and stopped working the 2nd night, we notified the front desk and a few hours later when we returned, it was fixed. The hotel staff wasn't very fast, but they got the job done. The location is right in the middle of all the action. As far as security, I agree with most people that there are a lot of random people always hanging around the pool and in the front of the hotel. Once you go up to the rooms, the hallways stayed pretty quiet. I highly recommend this hotel, just be sure to ask for the King rooms.

Nice TV in room, good location. Furnishing worn out, dirty, extra charge for everything from breakfast to towels and beach chairs for pool and beach. Dirty carpeting. Old. Very disappointed by the hotel. Continental breakfast was extra. Mandatory charge for pool towels and beach chairs, no choice even if didn't use them. Everything was beat and worn out, stained and dirty. Spa bathroom was like a gas station bathroom, small, old and dirty. Maybe that is a spa bathroom in Cuba, but not in the U.S.! Only thing decent was a comfortable bed and nice TV (with only basic cable, no PPV, etc). Pool cushions were disgusting. Very disappointed!

I went there with two friends visiting me from UK. Chose this hotel from the reasonable price and travel website rating. WRONG JUDGEMENT! As soon as we stepped in the room, we were welcomed by the soaking wet carpet. The bathroom was flooded. The whole room looked like the customers before us just left a few minutes ago!! Disgusting!!! There was NO LIGHT!! Literally. There was NO light bulb! We called the front desk. They said they are coming. We waited and waited. We went downstair and talked to the guy at the front desk. We literally spent the whole evening waiting in the room for them to come and fix the mess! It was freezing too because of the soaking wet carpet, flooding bathroom. We tried to adjust the AC. Didnt work. We were told that we had the wrong remote! They promised to bring the "right" one which never happened till we came back! They had no room to exchange. So they made us a deal that they would give that night for free if we stayed in that freezing room. We had no other choice, but to stay. When we checked out, the person who made that promise was not there. The lady at the frontdesk said she was never told about the free night. Thus she cannot do anything about it! We were asked to "call" and speak to the person who made the promsie. We kept calling them for a million times when we got back to NY, he was never there! I called the travel agency, and they also called and he wasn't there! Surprisingly! I finally sent an email and they finally replied that they'd issue a refund. I still don't see it in my credit card statements. Stay Away!

Oh wow. Where do I begin?..... I guess I can start by saying that this by far has been the worst stay I've had in South Beach yet. The first impression of the Hotel was good. The lobby was very modern and inviting. Once we checked in we headed to our room and when that door opened i realized that pictures are really not so accurate. the furniture in the room was modern but scuffed up and dingy. there are no dressers but there is a closet. In there we found only 4 hangers. two bath robes that were most definately not washed with a softner. (can i say sand paper!!) and there was a hole in the ceiling where water was leaking through. maybe from a shower or toilet! and the mini fridge does not exactly help much unless you are willing to pay an arm and a leg to use it and its contents. There was a blowdryer and an iron in there. That was good. But then we get to the bathroom. The towels are rough and scratchy. And oh yea. Dont lose them because you will get charged. The sink was ridiculous. No water pressure at all. We had to wash our hands in the shower which was good enough to get the job done. (No tub) And the worst.... NO Cable/satellite. Only three channels during the whole time i was there. I never want to see the disney channel again. Whats ridiculous is that when i asked the front desk why i only had three channels no one was able to give me a straight answer. It was the cleaning service who said that it had, at that point been out for two weeks. The air conditioning was acting up. it worked at times and not at others. The beds were comfy and clean at least. the pool was nice but the water looked murky.and the beach towels that were provided were also rough and scratchy. the beach chairs pool side were disgusting. i could not lay there without putting a towel over it. the bar however was very nice and not expensive at all. the one last plus i have to give the hotel was its location and the outside lounge area at the front entrance. the beach was just a walk away
