Canto Del Sol is a beautiful resort. The food/drinks is typical for all inclusives that we have experienced. The nightly show was also pretty typical. The resorts location is a definate plus as were the staff. The beach wasn't much to speak about, but we found that to be true for many of the beaches we saw there. The biggest down side to Canto Del Sol is the constant noise from the pool activities. Also, the nightly staff didn't do a very good job of monitoring guests around the pool late into the night. Four of the nights there we didn't get much sleep because of people partying until 3:00am. The last night there I complained and they allowed us a late check out time. The resort?room was always clean and everyone at the resort was very pleasant.

I paid fully for this room six months in advance. I phoned to confirm my room reservation two days before arriving, telling them that we would arrive around 11:00 pm. The hotel reception desk assured me that all was in order. We arrive as scheduled, late at night, to be told that the hotel had no room for us and that there was no hotel manager on duty with whom we could speak, and that we would have to go to another hotel for the night., which we did. When we returned the next morning for the promised check-in, we were told no room would be availiable until the next day. After demanding to speak with a manager, and being told many diffferent stories by the front desk people, we finally got a room. I watched this "no room available" happen each day as people arrived with a confrimed reservation. Thus, no not trust that a room will be available when you arrive. Further, the front desk people really do not care, simply do not care. This hotel is not a tourist friendly hotel if there is a problem; you will be left on your home. Expect no help from the hotel desk staff. If you want a secure reservation upon arrival, this is not the hotel to stay with. I would never go back here again. Surely, there must be other hotels operating on a more professional business basis.

This is our 2nd time in the last 2 years here. The Mexican food and drinks are very good. The only down side is you have to eat at the reservation-only Mexican restaurant to get guacamole with your meal. They were a little heavy with trying to get us to do a Time Share presentation, even though we were a fully paid hotel guest. Great beach access. Close to downtown (50 pesos for a cab ride). The bellmen were fantastic. The rooms were clean. Hard to get a pool lounge chair if you wait past 11 am to get there. Did not get harassed at the beach by vendors, but they still were there selling various trinkets and things.

I booked this 4 night stay through the travel website and I am very satisfied. The travel agent did a fine job for us. The hotel was a good value with basic rooms and pretty good food. The adjacent 8 court tennis club can be used for no extra charge, so you can try out the clay courts there. The pool is ok but too small for the hotel and the beach is non-existent. The hotel needs renovation. However, for 123.50 per night for 2 people all inclusive, it was a decent value and I would go back.

our group (grandparents, parents, 2 year old) spent most of the time at the resort, and found it to be an excellent value. The food was more than adequate, the staff were very helpful and worked hard to keep things clean. Facilities ranged from good (fitness centre - mostly weights) to excellent (tennis and pool) The little guy loved the pool and spent virtually the entire day in it, except for the time he spent in the supervised day care/activity centre. All in all, an excellent vacation spot.

We have been to Puerto Vallarta four times and each time we have stayed at this hotel. Unfortunately, we were completely let down and disappointed this time. The quality of the food very poor. Much of it is reused from days before and we actually seen the health inspectors there because of refrigeration issues. The first couple of days were okay but then...The Wednesday From Hell happened. It was bad enough that it was unseasonably warm for October which made the pool inviting but that was not to be. The hotel booked a so called "conference" for a "small" group of 300 younf college students that completely took over the entire hotel. This hotel was not meant to have that many people there at one time. It was like we stepped into a bad spring break vacation! These college students were terrible, rude, and down right out of line and the hotel did not about it. They were smoking in the pool with the ashes floating in the water, along with some butts. They were drinking heavily and spilling them in the pool as well, not to mention what else they may have left in the pool too. We won't even talk about the condition of the bathrooms after they had been drinking all day. The hotel staff seemed to spend more time serving them and not the rest of us who were actually tipping them. Their security guards could not control them and they would run in the halls from 4am-7am yelling and hotel told us there was nothing they could do. They did not even try to accomodate us or move us, just said sorry but you have to deal with it. We will definitely never go back there and stay at this hotel. TOTAL DISSAPOINTMENT!!!

My friend and I went on a spontaneous mexico vacation to get out of the cold winter weather and were pleasantly surprised by the canto del sol. It was exactly what we were looking for our 'flake and bake' vacation. There was a good night life with about 15 or so people that would meet up and go to the club of choice of the night. My only complaint was the food. ALthough they had a different selection everyday there was almost no mexican food!

We were very pleased with our stay. The rooms were clean, the service was very good in all areas of the resort. The food was even good. They had ""theme"" days for the food. Although some of it was repetitive, we only ate away from the resort 1 day, because we were in town all day. Would highly recommend, our 10 year old daughter had a blast too.

I wouldn't recommend the hotel, the food is not good, I would rather stay the next time in a more expensive hotel with better food, the room was ok, swimming pool also ok, the drinks at the bar are fine but is so unpleasant about the food...I qould give this hotel a 6 out of 10, no more.

A well run three star hotel that is a good deal for the money. The food was fine and although the rooms need renovation badly, this hotel was a good deal for the money.

The hotel is nice, but what I liked the most was the staff, they were all friendly and very helpful. I will stay at the hotel again. The food was good they had different variety for dinner. Breakfast was mostly the same. Lunch was good to. Overall it was great. ONLY ONE THING I WILL RECOMMENED DO NOT GO TO PUERTO VALLARTA ON THE RAIN SEASON. WE WENT IN SEPT 2008 AND COULD'T GO INSIDE THE OCEAN IT WAS DIRTY. BECAUSE IT RAINS SO MUCH. THE RAIN SLIDES DOWN FROM THE HILLS WHERE THERE IS A LOT OF MUD AND IT GOES TO THE LAKES AND CANAL AND THEN IT GOES TO THE OCEAN IT WAS DIRTY AND IT THERE WAS GARBAGE SO GO TO PUERTO VALLARTA BETWEEN NOV-MAY. OTHER THEN THAT EVERYTHING WAS A GREAT EXPERIENCE

If you are looking for a room dated 1960's, come in and have a good time. Asked for fresh towel, got it after 4 hours of calling. Most staff dont talk english, beach is rocky and not much water activity. Food is ok but not great.

This was our first trip to Puerto Vallarta. We were vacationing on a budget, so we weren't quite sure what to expect. Overall, the few days we were there were good. The accommodations were comfortable, clean and quite adequate. Although we enjoyed the food that we did eat at the hotel, we didn't feel that there were enough options available for an all-inclusive. My husband and I neither one are picky eaters. If you are planning on staying here with someone who IS, plan on spending your souvenir money on eating out!

We enjoyed our stay at the Canto De Sol Plaza. I thought the food was average but the staff was very professional, the hotel was very clean, and we had a great time. We were a little bummed that the swim up bar was under construction but we still had fun!

The Canto Del Sol was an enjoyable experience. The food was good, the room was adaquate (spent very little time there), the pool was fine, the beach was not very good(small), Drinks great, staff in most cases was very helpful. We stayed away from the time share people and saved ourselves a lot of time. We paid a few bucks for tours that we could have gotten discounted but did not feel our precious time was worth it. We utilized the bus to go downtown and to the Marina (50 cents) and the Taxi to and from the airport. Tours, massages, ATM, etc can be obtained just across the street at dicounts from Hotel prices.

From the very beginning the hotel service was atrocious. The next day, my wife's birthday we had an issue with security as someone stole some of my wife's items from within the room while we were out to dinner. Apparently they do not lock the community doors that are attached on both sides of the room to the rooms next door. When we learned that our doors were not locked and that we had some items missing we reported this to security. Security and the hotel services were disputing our claim from the onset. It took them one hour from our initial call to even send someone to check on the doors. They put us in a different room without community doors but that was the extent of their assistance in this matter. The stolen items were never reimbursed, we lost more than a day in dealing with this matter, filing police reports etc., and they never even apologized for the incident basically insuing that we were making the whole story up. We felt unsafe in this hotel and were dissapointed in the staff and service. We do not recommend this hotel.

My friends and I went to Puerto Vallarta for spring break last week and we stayed at the Canto del Sol. It was a nice hotel and good value for the money. It was well maintained and a nice property. The hotel staff is very helpful and friendly from the time you walk into the hotel. The food at the hotel is good. It isn't five star quality but by no means is it bad. There is a buffet restaurant which usually has a variety of food to eat and the poolside snack bar which serves the same food every day. The a la carte mexican restaurant has amazing food. If you stay at this hotel, do not miss the opportunity to eat here. It was soo good. The rooms are nice and well-kept. Before I went on the trip, I had read that many of the beds are very hard. However, I disagree with this. The beds were very comfortable and there was no problem with them. The pool was nice and warm, and there were always activities going on around that area. The beach was nice to come and sit on. They provide you with chairs whenever you go down on it. The hotel location is also good. It was only a five minute cab ride to downtown PV. Overall, it was a great experience, and I have no complains about the hotel.

Canto Del Sol was very comfortable, clean and met my expectations. Staff was friendly and provided excellent service involving meals, bars and maid service. A couple nights we were kept awake by noisey neighbors but otherwise beds were comfortable and we slept well. I was very impressed with security at the hotel; they made us feel very safe throughout our stay. We enjoy our stay a great deal and would recommend it to others.

I would recommend this hotel to some, but not to others. The food is great, the staff is super friendly and courteous, the view is amazing. The rooms are a little rundown, not dirty but old and I just wish the air conditioning blew colder. I stayed 3 nights and loved the hotel, but I wouldn't send my parents there.

Overall, El Canto Del Sol is a great value for the money. I found the hotel beautiful with an open air lobby, elegant stone floors, pool and palm trees all right off of the beach. The front desk was very fun and did a great job. All were very nice and accommodating. The room was nice, with plenty of room for clothes, yoga and snorkeling gear for two, all at the same time. It's within walking distance to downtown, or it's a 40-peso cab ride. My boyfriend complained the bed was too hard, the TV didn't get great reception, the pool music too loud for too long, and Mexicans should NOT try to make Chinese food. The timeshare spiel is annoying so we avoided them as best we could. Don't drink the water/ice even though it says it's purified.
