From check in to check out the staff was friendly and professional. Easy beach access with drink service was great, even had a lifeguard looking over the swimmers. Beach was great and not crowded. Two big pools made some one splashing water on your face unlikely. Pool and the entire property were well maintained. Decent cafe but the buffet needs some more choices. I do not make it a point on using the hotel gift shops but this one actually had the lowest prices around on the items they sold, just as advertised. Location is a good compromise for those who want to be close but not too close to the nightlife. Property was walking distance to restaurants/shopping and short bus ride to additional nightlife and restaurants/shopping. Overall: Decent deal, clean, great rooms, friendly staff.

Ok, I read some negative reviews about how big this hotel was, but it was perfect for the vacation we wanted. I found it to be plenty big enough, with a beautiful view from our room and a very courteous and professional staff who met our every need, no matter the time of day. If I even looked a little confused about anything, someone was always there to ask if I needed help. The front desk offered a decent exchange rate on money. We booked some tours and dinners through the hotel, and they went flawlessly as well. The hotel restaurants were clean, the food was great and the waitstaff very courteous. The entire hotel, down to the pool bathrooms were immaculate and although we didn't take any children on this trip, they would have been accomodated just as well as we were. We were very near all the good restaurants, clubs, and shopping as well as downtown Cancun. I couldn't find any negatives for this review. I will definitely recommend this hotel, and we've already discussed returning to Cancun and staying there again. Overall an excellent vacation!

My husband and I visited this hotel after researching several other resorts on-line. We didn't know what to expect, but felt very good about our decision after arriving. The hotel staff was extremely pleasant, most everyone spoke English very well. The rooms were very clean and decorated nicely. I felt very secure here as the beach is almost very secluded, and private with it's own security. The actual hotel is older, but we were automatically upgraded upon arrival to one of the newer villas overlooking the beach. Although the flags were red for most of our visit, the lifeguard was very attentive to those of us who decided to swim anyway! The property, pools, and resteraunts were very romantic, and well-kept. I would recommend dining in the Blue Bayou as it was reasonably priced. The Buffets and other resteraunts could be slightly expensive, but quality of food was good. Resort is located RIGHT in front of a convenient bus stop and shops and resteraunts are in a comfortable walking distance. Would highly recommend staying here!

This hotel was very nice visually and comfortwise. The beaches were private and beautiful. Minor flaws: they charge $2.00/day for the use of in-room safes (why?) and make the guest sign a form stating they won't bring any outside food in, even bottled water and the minibars are locked until a credit card is left with the front desk.

I reserved a beach front room at the Hyatt Cancun Caribe resort, after arriving I went to the room and discovered none of the lights worked except for 2 of them, the ceiling fan did not work and I couldn?t get any hot water. I complained to the front desk and asked for a regular room in the main building which is a lower rate, the employee was very helpful who I had spoken to, she contacted the night manager and explained my complaint and request for a different room. Well the night manager said I could change rooms but I would need to sign a form that says I will continue to pay the higher room rate for the beach front room for the rest of my stay. I thought that was very a disrespectful and an unprofessional way to treat a costumer when the hotel was at fault, so I left the next morning and stayed at the Hilton for the remainder of my stay. The Hilton was great! I can?t think of anything bad about my stay there. The Hyatt really needs to invest in repair and the upkeep of their property.

From the moment we were meet at the airport until we returned to the airport 7 days later...this trip was a dream.. The staff was approachable, friendly, helpful. We enjoyed everything about our stay.

The hotel is very nice. Clean, friendly service, nice beach, ext. I was surprised how nice it was for the price. Word of warning though. Don't get drunk and go to the flea market. They will try to rip you off. Also, prepare for mexican customs lines. They are long and it sucks. Great hotel though and would recommend for the price. Also the room service wasn't that expensive. $14 us for a cheese burger, fries, coke. That $14 includes tip. Great place but also very tourist like area. Next place I go would like it to be more remote, but if you go to Cancun I would stay here. P.S. I didn't really like the pillows, I would bring your own.

Everything at the hotel is amazing. The location is great because it's not far from the fun but you don't have to worry about all the party people when you're trying to sleep. The beach was great and breath taking. The shower kept having pressure and temperature issues. But other than that we didn't have any problems. House keeping brings you free bottled water in the morning. Food and drink at the hotel were very expensive, 4-5 per beer. I would go again in a heartbeat.

It was so great and I can't say enough good things. The hotel food is great but it is a little $$$ but most of the food is there. Don't be afraid of the water to brush your teeth its fine. We even had the ice and we're fine no issues at all. The hotel really was great and if you have any problems just talk to the people at the front desk, they fixed our fan ASAP and were going to give us a new room because we told them the mirror had a scratch on it lol ( we just didn't want to get charged for it) Nice nice staff.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words so I wish I could share our snapshots taken from our balcony overlooking the pool and beach area. I know you can picture a beautifully shaped pool with the ocean in the background. Now picture the pool a beautiful shade of aqua that matches the ocean perfectly. They must have had an exceptional exterior decorator! The white sand matches the white caps on the waves as they crash into the shore. Now sprinkle this resort with many, many polite mexicans to serve, smile, water the lawns, clean, etc. etc. Just an exquisite place.

Stayed 5 nights. Really liked the room. We booked a deluxe ocean view room and when we got there they upgraded with no extra cost to a deluxe OCEAN FRONT room. Beautiful view and the sound of the ocean waves was just great. I recommend this hotel for people looking for a nice, quiet, hotel. The only negative thing I can say is that the restaurant prices was kind of expensive.

This is a very nice hotel, all rooms have ocean views, everything was clean and worked. I loved the large shower with the rain head. We booked a tour to Chichen Itza with the guy in the lobby, and it was excellent and as advertized. (The Cancun-Line tour company was great). We had rough seas so our snorkelling experience wasn't as nice as it could be, but that's out of anyones control. I also liked that it was a short 10 minute walk to the main shopping and food, which also meant that it was also quiet at night, unlike the "city" area with loud disco beat music late into the night, although once in a while you could hear the disco in the lagoon, but not enough to bother us. The staff was friendly and attentive, although food and drinks are over-priced (which is the same all over Cancun).

I booked my stay at the Cancun Caribe Park Royal Grand for April 15-20. Unfortunately, my stay there was a disappointing and short one. Be aware that they will make you pay a $2.00 dollar charge per day to use the lock box in your room (advertisement says that is included in the room package). You also are not allowed to buy food or drink to bring back to the hotel and must sign a form stating so. The overall feel of the hotel is that it is in need of an update and renovation and certainly does not reflect a hotel of four star quality with an AAA Diamond rating (more like a two or three star). I requested a room that was higher up (due to pool noise), and was told they could not provide it until my second night. While the Deluxe ocean view was pretty, the bed was hard as a rock, the pillows left alot to be desired, the room and bathroom smelled dirty, and the sheets had the same musty smell. The air conditioning was not on, not sure if it worked. I tried to switch rooms my first night in hopes that the bedroom conditions would be better. To remedy the situation, the front desk staff brought me to a room that was equally as bad and was right across from a nightclub (playing loud music into the early morning). The pools/hot tub were great, but you will notice many guards surrounding the pool areas who seem to be cleaning all of the time, but you feel like you do not have any privacy as a guest as they are watching you constantly. This hotel is very "rule bound", so it makes it difficult to enjoy oneself on vacation. I did walk out of the hotel on my first night and the hotel staff/front desk supervisor were not accommodating, and did not refund my first night's stay or lack thereof. If you are looking for a cheap, non-descript place to sleep only, this would be your hotel. I ended up staying at another four star hotel down the strip, and finally enjoyed the rest of my vacation.

We just returned from staying at this hotel yesterday. (March 2009) Positives: Great beach and convenient to restaurants and shopping. Secure. Good buffet restaurant with good service. Clean room and super view of the sea. Fairly comfortable beds. Negatives: No alcohol or food in rooms. Very bad plumbing, cold showers. Poor management. Staff are unresponsive to problems. Restaurants and bars are over priced for the quality. You must ask for additional towels and soaps. Beds are short sheeted. No free breakfast as advertised. No willingness to negotiate or make good on advertised offers. Wireless internet available but at about $14 USD per day it is over priced. There are a lot of beautiful hotels in Cancun. I would recommend you chose a different one.

This was the 2nd time we visited Cancun; we had stayed at the Marriott Casa Magna before and had a FABULOUS time. We were expecting something similar with the Hyatt, but in reality, the Hyatt is an older hotel. Although the decor attempts to be modern, there is a sense of age about the whole building. I have to agree with the other travellers who said that the soap/shampoo provided smells of poop, and the nightclub across the street BLARES out music until about 4 am... so make sure you're exhausted and fall asleep before 10:30, otherwise it'll definitely keep you up. Another big beef was that the gym closed at 5pm each night - which seems crazy given that most people are out/sunbathing during the day. A couple of definitely pluses: the staff were very kind; the 24 hour coffee shop has the BEST coffee, and were curteous and polite. The front desk had numerous menus on hand when we asked them for a recommendation of where to eat out of the hotel. While the posh restaurant was closed for refurbishment, the 'cafe' type restaurante downstaires had their evening buffet on specials while we were there and cost only $16 per person...and the food was pretty decent. Again the staff were very flexible and one night we had only their desserts (for about $6 per person) and salad bar ($10 per person). I think they did this as they were reluctant to serve anything a la carte, but it suited us just fine.

We stayed for a week in an upgraded room that had a balcony overlooking the ocean. The room was stylish and immaculate, and we loved the four-headed shower & jacuzzi tub. The pool is one of those where you don't see the back wall, and it sort of looks like the pool fades into the ocean. The pool area has those nice beds with curtain surrounds, so you can lounge and take a nap if you want. We got a great exchange rate (US to Pesos) at the hotel as well. Also, we spent a good amount of time in the Regency Club, talking with staff. They were so friendly and very helpful. We could not have asked for better, more professional service (thanks, Rosalina!). They were all top notch! When we checked out, we were even given some cookies "for the road" in a small container--the server knew how much I loved those cookies, and he even ran to another building to get some fresh ones. Amazing! My husband and I had our best vacation ever there.

Stayed November 9-16 THE GOOD: King room in the regency club: We had our own private whirlpool tub, huge shower with multiple showerheads and a rainfall showerhead, nice linens, marble floors and fixtures, flat screen TV, sitting area, turn down service, and a private balcony that was literally only 10 feet from the water on the ground floor. Aside from one mosquito one night, we didn't see any bugs. The regency club is fantastic - a nice continental breakfast every morning and a happy hour with free drinks and snacks from 6-8 every night. 2 for 1 happy hour drinks from 3-4 at the pool bar. Visit the cafe by the lobby for outstanding ice cream! THE BAD: The beds are a little hard, but we didn't have any problem getting a good night's sleep. The buffet restaurant is lame, small and the selection is limited. The service is a bit slow throughout the hotel. THE UGLY: The beach is a lot smaller than it shows in the hotel pictures. There are old beach accesses that you can't use now because they literally end in the water. But the entire coastline of Cancun was destroyed by Wilma. There is plenty of beach to lay on, and plenty of ocean to swim in, so you'll still have a great time. The Blue Bayou was closed. There were a couple of bogus charges on our room when we checked out, but they resolved them. So check your statement carefully. We had a wonderful time and would go back to the Caribe. Tips: take the bus for transportation; it's only 6.5 pesos (about .50 cents). Check out Tulum Express if you want to see it but not spend extra $$$ for Xel-ha. La Destileria and Hacienda Sisal are recommended for great Mexican food.
