hotel was pretty good !the staff spoken very good english . I like the food in the restaurant . and the location was good hide a little bit behind hyatt hotel was quite . i will stay there next time .

I booked a basic non-smoking room but when I got there it was upgraded to a deluxe room for free. The whole floor was non-smoking so that really wasn't a problem. The room was huge and could actually be considered two rooms in one with one bed in each room. One very wide bed and another narrow but good for one. The mattresses were firm and there was a nice selection of pillows some filled with seeds. The bed sheets were very clean and everything was quite comfortable. The bathroom was clean and had a western style toilet and only a shower with no bathtub. The standard amenities were provided (soap, shampoo, tooth brush and paste) as well as the usual discardable flip flops in China. The rooms were reasonably clean and my only complaint is that the wallpaper had some stains and the room was worn-out but nothing of importance broken. As a funny side note there was a basket in the bathroom selling underwear and condoms among other similar items. The room was quiet and allowed for a good night of sleep. There was in room internet access but I didn't try it out so can't comment on it. The staff was nice with very limited command of English. Only two people spoke English with some fluency. They were particularly nice to let me consult my email for free at their business center after checking out. We had some problem getting to the hotel due to not having directions in Chinese. Our taxi driver phoned the hotel and received directions on how to get there. The hotel is very well located with both the railway station and the bell tower within 10 to 30 minutes of walking distance. I checked in at around 10 AM and checked out at 7:30 AM and left my bags at the hotel for free. The early check in was particularly nice. The hotel was OK but nothing above average however notice I got one of their best rooms and not the most basic room I had booked.

I enjoyed my stay at the Canaan International Hotel. The staff was extremely kind and always willing to go out of their way to help me. I'm glad I stayed here, and I would definately recommend it. In fact I did, to another traveler on my trip. Thanks to all the helpful staff, especially Jilly who made me feel right at home!

The guest reservations manager was very helpful and pleasant. She gave us another room when the first one smelled of smoke. She wrote us a personal note.

This hotel offers us the best deal and we actually get to stay in non-moking room, which is rather rare while traveling in China. The location is excellent.e stayed there for six nights only and I wish we stayed there longer. I recommend anyone for this excellent hotel. Esther - My family and I stayed there in June, 2008

Fairly good location though hidden away a bit. Rooms quite large, hotel tired but looks reasonably impressive from the foyer. Western breakfast available, evening meal at restuarant left a left a lot to be desired. The bullfrogs in the entry to be chosen for a meal were a bit offputting tho. Tilly the lady who was there to assist westerners was very helpful and spoke good English. Also a very helpful Assistant Manager.

The staff were very friendly..helped me with everything I needed. They were very obliging in doing so. They tried there best efforts even though the communication barrier. Great service!

A little tricky to find, in lane behind Hyatt, but room was OK, service fine and breakfast was OK and inexpensive.

We didn´t know if we were to cry or laugh when we saw the room. The name of the hotel is Canaan International - but they are not international at all. So bad air in the room that we could hardly sleep. Don´t pay more than 20 for the int breakfast - the staff themselves admit that the quality is bad. If you pay for a non smoking room - they will only take out the ash treys from a smoking room. Be aware of the service fee that the hotel charge you when helping you book tickets to different places. We will never ever come back to this hotel. I get sick by just thinking about the shower with all the black hair... The only positive thing about this hotel was a bell boy that did his absoulute best to help us with the luggage and to get us a taxi. The hotel is not worth paying for. Don´t go there!

The Canaan International is very affordable, but the amenities are lacking. There was no air conditioning in the common areas and the shower tiles and curtain were moldy. The housekeeping staff hung out on the balcony outside my room, talking loudly in the early morning. However, the front desk staff were helpful and several of them spoke English.

Nice lobby. Some of the rooms were untidy on arrival. Friendly staff trying to please you. Nice van service to the terracota warriors. Western breakfast not good quality. 20 minutes from Bell tower
