La Vela Restaurant Delicious all time favorite seafood dishes and tasty local recipes. A-la-carte lunch and dining, featuring live music on weekends. Open from noon thru 01:00 every day. I had been previously to Boca del Río and deffinitely this was the best hotel I experienced. It is well located and even though I did not reserve wit a lot of time, I got an excellent rate. Great spot to vacation.

My Wife and I stayed here and it was a good experience. Everyone was friendly however the staff could be a little more attentive. I found that lacking somewhat but overall this was a nice hotel. Its painted pink and all rooms have an ocean view. the food was so-so. I would come again but you may find price steep for area.

I was excited when arriving at this modern new hotel. It's pretty impressionable as you approach the check in desk. I stayed in a regular sized room, nothing fancy other than the beautiful balcony with the pool/ ocean view. The room cost me about *.00 pesos which is just over *.US for (2)nights stay and is more likely worth about *US. I was also shocked when after taking a shower I reached over to grab a towel and it felt like sandpaper rather than the plush high quality kind you'd expect to find at a pricey place like this. Regardless, the service was excellent and the staff was wonderful meeting my every need with the exception of one bar tender that intercepted me at the elevator to tell me he'd not charged me for a drink as he thought I'd left without paying my tab. He had failed to notice that I'd not only paid in full but also left him a 50% tip before running over to me creating a spectacle of himself, it was an embarrassing misunderstanding and I wrote it off as an honest mistake but I did not return there anymore. The hotel has a great private car service which takes you anywhere you like whenever you want. The driver's are on call just outside the lobby and you only need to walk towards the door and say taxi to the doorman and he'll signal them over. The food at both the restaraunt and outside bar was fantastic and the facilities outdoors is immaculately maintained including the beachfront. No trash and no peddlers. Overall I had a good experience but I could have stayed almost a week somewhere else with what this room cost. I did'nt know any better at that time.

Enjoyed a relaxing time in Veracruz. Would have love to spend more time there but do the flu many places were closed so we made the trip short but had a great time.

We have stayed here on occasion for weekends from Mexico City. The facilities are nice, the people are friendly and it is well located. The size (not too big) helps in not have too much crowding at breakfast or in the pool. I do wish the access to the beach had a little more supervision, some trash had accumulated from the water overnight (just a sock and a bottle, nothing dreadful) and no one picked it up all day. I suppose such few people actually go to the beach it was overlooked.We recommend this hotel.

The Camino Real was a wonderful hotel. The staff was very courteous and dedicated to customer service. The front desk even provided currency exchange at a better rate than the local bank. The room was very comfortable and houskeeping maintained its cleanliness daily. If we needed anything at all we simply called and it was delivered to our room. The room came with a safe that you were able to program yourself for extra security. There was also a fully stocked refrigerator. Rather than having an ice machine you had to call room service for ice. I asked why they did this and they said it was for sanitary purposes. The hotel was well lit and I felt safe and secure at all times. We ordered a pizza one evening and one of the staff members walked the delivery guy to our room to ensure we did in fact order a pizza and to provide extra security. They even had preferred taxis they would call for guests. The hotel was also family friendly. There was some type of children's summer camp going on while we were there. We were not travelling with children but I thought this was a nice option for families. The only reason I knew about the camp was because of a sign they had posted. It was never loud or a disturbance to other guests. The pool was fabulous and always clean. It was also large enough that even at 100% capacity of the hotel you didn't feel crowded or cramped in the pool and there was plenty of room to swim. The pool bar was a nice addition so you could get a snack or drink without ever having to leave the pool. The beach access was very clean and convenient as well. There were showers to rinse off prior to returning to the hotel. The beach chairs were comfortable and there were always some available. As you can tell we were very pleased with El Camino Real and hope to go back and visit one day.

The Camino Real Veracruz is probably one of the best hotels in the area. The beach was definitely the best in the city with a designated palapa area. It is a perfect walking running beach even though the sand is packed and not white and sugary. The beach is very shallow which is great for swimming and children. The pool with its swim up bar is well kept up, clean, and well staffed. When we went it was not crowded. For scuba and snorkeling you must take a boat to islands in the bay. We did not do this. Reception staff was very helpful. The room was kept spotless. Room service was prompt. Breakfast was delicious even though a bit overpriced at $17 for a full buffet in Mexico. The hotel is twenty minutes from the Veracruz city downtown with the zocalo, market, aquarium. However the bus stand is steps away from the hotel entrance and we used it to get to town, then taxi back for about $50 pesos. There are other dining options nearer in Boca del Rio. Veracruz is what Mexico was like ten to twenty years ago. Not many tourists, not many vendors, and friendly people. I will definitely return before this relic of real Mexico disappears under the frenzy to develop the area.
