I just came to Palm Springs to get out of LA and see the desert close up for the first time. Palm Springs is a very nice litle resort community with lots of shops, restaurants, and m/hotels. I was very surprised at the quality of the room I got at Caliente Tropics considering how little I paid for it (though this was in the high heat of summer when prices are lower). Good size, very clean, simple and tastefully done, a good shower, and with a large TV. It did not have a cheap feel to it. I have paid the same price elsewhere while traveling and gotten far less value for the money. The frig was quite small and could not be made cooler, but was enough. I did not really appreciate that the tap water had a lot of white calcium in it (it did dissolve and disappear in the glass), so I bought water. Most people in the town use filters, and the water is not harmful. B/o these last two points I would have liked to give a rating of 4.5 rather than 5, but overall I was very satisfied. The pool is nice and clean also. Very relaxing, a good inexpensive place to be if you are just looking for very decent basics, and quite enough if you just want to get out of LA for a while! You do have to be able to tolerate very hot weather in July though and know how to deal with it. The restaurant is under renovation so I could not rate it properly.

Room was pretty clean. Old, needs renovation, restaurant was closed. It wasOK, but I probably wouldn't stay there again.

Great deal at a great price!! Had to drag my wife out of the hot tub every day! Nice size, clean basic hotel room. Centrally located. Great pool, whirlpool and sunbathing area. Will stay again!

I had booked a room for my family for a nice weekend. We were looking forward to room service but that was not the case. I checked in and asked about how was the room service, the front desk did not know what I was talking about. Apparently they have room service at all like it had said, it was already too late because I booked the room ahead and didn't follow through by calling before, my fault. Lesson learn call before booking. Other than that, the stay was pleasent. When we first walked in the room, it smelled like dog, so that wasn't a plus to the trip. I wouldn't recommend any of my friends to stay here.

This is a very nice hotel, the pool area is relaxing, clean and a very good place to spend time, the restaurant attached to the hotel is also very good, the only downside is that there is no breakfast, other than that a very good place to spend time. Would highly recommend.

Great value for the money. Though located on E Palm Canyon, they can give you a room which is super quiet. Good linens, clean, large rooms, nice big pool. And a fridge. I completely relaxed and slept well there. Nice staff.

This hotel was very clean, AC worked really well. Just be warned that all of the rooms are non smoking and travelocity does not mention that anywhere. The hotel was great though!

Room clean and well cared for, staff was helpful, have stayed at this hotel a number of times. Close to downtown and other cities. Pool filled up fast but always room to cool off. Prices this time of year was pretty good. Goes up after Thanksgiving. We go in August and have the town to ourselves due to the heat. The hotel has always been great.

Allowed dogs, didn't charge a big fee for having a pet. I just want to say, the staff was very friendly and helpful.

Their rates vary widely according to occupancy. The night I booked this hotel, I was really nervous about how low the rate was....around $*. However, I ended up extending my stay for my entire trip and even brought over to the hotel four more families in my group. All of us were very, very pleased at the quality of the rooms, the care of the grounds and the excellent staff. I highly advise this hotel for anyone on any kind of a budget.

We checked in easily and quickly. They have free wifi in the rooms. It was clean and cute. the bathroom was not new but well kept. The sheets and bedding was clean and new. The AC ran very cold, that was very good. I wish they had left more towels. We only had two and would have liked some for the pool. The pool is big and a little warmer than i would have liked, but nice. I loved the vintage flair.

The tiki theme and newly renovated rooms, huge pool, accepts pets, location and price. The wireless internet kept going out and they had to reset the server over and over again. My husband and I had a relaxing and fun time at the 1960's themed hotel. The room was newly renovated, clean with a fun tiki/polynesian theme and a terrific view of the huge pool set against the backdrop of mountains and palm trees. The bed was wicked comfortable and the location was very close to the main strip. Best of all was theprice. We are sure to return soon.

There are lots of palm trees around the pool area, on the grass you can BBQ your own steak or sausage. It`s a family and pet friendly place. I find it very romantic....there is a bar next to the pool and a Mexican Restaurant. We have been there many times, we just love it.

The Caliente Tropics delivers! Asides from the great rate we got, the rooms were super clean, beds & pillows comfortable, all amenities were as promised. The fridge was silent and efficient, ice from the nearby machine was always available. We received great service upon checking in and throughout our four-night stay. The room was duly serviced everyday and coffee, soap, shampoo & lotion replaced as required. In addition, we found the place to be very quiet, perhaps due to the low season. I can imagine that it may be a bit livelier in the summer but the rooms seem to be soundproof enough that it would not hinder our sleep. In addition, we ate once at La Casita (the restaurant next to the hotel) and the food was great and not too pricy. The location is pretty good as it is only a short drive to the main shopping/restaurant/bar area and malls abound when you drive the other way. Overall, a great experience and we are already looking forward to our next visit to Palm Springs with the Caliente Tropics as our 1st choice for accommodations.

I was a bit scared at first when I found this place online because of the low 48 weekday rates during the summer months. When I arrived and entered my room I was so surprise. It was a nice clean room. The pool area at nights was very inviting. I live in the desert area just a short drive to palm springs but this is definately where I'll be staying when I visit the casinos. I can't believe they have such low rates. How do they stay in business. During my stay their was a lady wining and complaining at the desk because she found a caterpillar on the carpet. Hello! this is the desert, and its summer. The caterpillars are found all over the desert, they come from our palm trees and its their mating cycle. They are harmless little things. I can't imagine how she would of reacted if she found a scorpion! I guess because I live in the desert and take these thing lightly. Their is no way any hotel can control our native buddies from entering the rooms once in a while looking to cool off. The hotel and staff was great.
