Poor qualityFirst night I was given access to a room that was already occupied. Service, particularly reception, very slow and not particularly helpful. I have stayed in the Caledonian many times over the past 3 years, but probably never will again.

great location - close to town, handy for west jesmond metro station, loads bars and places to eat on osbourne road and lovely shops, room great - decor bit dated but looks like all communal areas been updated recently so sure this will be rooms next, very spacious, nice big bathroom. didn;t eat at hotel but resturant and bar looked lovely, plenty free parking at rear of hotel

Check in and out was a bit of a debacle. Other than that, the hotel was very nice. We didnt try the breakfasts - a little expensive we thought.

Caledonian Hotel, JesmondI stayed here on a friday night, just for the one night. From the outside, and in the foyer, bar etc, the hotel looks really nice. The room they gave us though, the osbourne suite, which was on the ground floor, right behind reception, was really dated. The bathroom looked like one you might see round an elderly relatives, and there was a constant dripping from inside the toilet cistern that could be heard from the bed. The room was large, but just seemed very old, the old flip up bed was still there. Also it was very very noisy until late. We were across the road from a busy bar, and the windows didnt seem to keep out any noise. Inside the hotel, i'm not sure whether there were stag do's or what, but it was very noisy as we were just by the foyer. Over all, considering the price too, I'd give this hotel a 2/5.

GoodWas a nie and clean room, although we had to move initally to a slightly smaller one because the lock was broken. Let us stay later on the last day then normal check out time, and were very pleasant when made enquiries at reception. Excellent location on the legendary Osborne Road, although if you do not wish to try the bars etc maybe not best place to centre yourself. Overall a very good stay!

TattiesOverall the room was adequate for a nights stay. the only criticism was that you could hear everything that was going on in the hallways (especially late at night/early morning) and in other rooms. All rooms were basically clean & tidy but the carpets were a lot to be desired.

Great hotelWe stayed for one night and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our room was clean and well equipped (although a little more wardrobe space would have been good). Bathroom good size with great shower.Bar downstairs very modern with good crowd of people in.Room only, but payed £5.95 for Full Monty breakfast on Sunday - highly recommended - delicious and huge..lol.

Room was fine, clean and tidy and very spacious.The staff were courteous and efficient and the only problem was a few late night noisy guests shouting and larking around in the hotel corridors after 2.00 a.m.

The hotel actually looks quite nice from the outside, the reception is lovely with what looks like a smart bar and restaurant.The bedroom however for £87/night was awful. The bathrooms obviously hadn't been updated for a few decades, and the bedroom whilst clean was outdated in terms of furniture and obviously smartened up on a budget.The lift was an experience - I wouldn't use it unless you're weighed down with luggage! I wouldn't stay here again at that price, particulraly given the standard of other hotels at this price.If I was staying in Newcastle again I'd pay the extra for a 4 star.

Very cold room. Located at the back of the hotel away from all the other rooms.It was apparent our reservation had been changed. (Probably another patron had complained)A Christmas party with incredibly loud music went on into the early hours.
