everything about this hotel is terrible, don't stay , don't eat there , don't listen to the lies that the staff tell you and finally whatever you do don't give them you're credit card details unless you want to lose some money from your account.

we were very impressed, the staff from the reception at check in were through to the bar were fantastic, nothing was too much for them. i will certainly be back to the caledonian thistle in the near future. our room was immaculately clean and spacious and very comfortable.

granite citynice clean room but a bit small, central location for the shops, bars etc, plenty of parking space at the back, but not secure, can"t say if the food is any good was room only, they offered us an up grade for £20 more if we didn"t like the room that we had booked, which was a double for a suite which have all been refurbished, all in all not bad for what we paid.

Although we were in a room that hasn't been refurbished yet, this was a very pleasant place to stay. The reception staff were very helpful and courteous and the location is great.

Caledonian Thistle Hotel, AberdeenWe only stayed one night but from what we seen of the hotel its aesthetics are very nice. If your travelling by car the hotel entrance is on the street with the large monument and if your going up Union street, ie. past the mall towards the music hall then the hotels car park is the next street after Union terrace. Very well placed for going to the music hall as just a minutes walk

Great locationless than 10 minutes walk from the station and just off the main Union Street, overlooking gardens like a mini- Princes St Gardens in Edinburgh. Room was a standard, reasonable size, nicely decorated and clean, with a comfortable bed. Didnt dine but breakfast was good and efficiently served by friendly staff. The main staircase is pretty impressive.

Cold Day in AberdeenDespite the outside temperature the room was unheated and the radiators did not work; however there was a fan heater tucked away in a wardrobe and I was able to get warm. The bathroom stayed cold and the floor was cold to bare feet. But the worse thing was the bed which was narrow; these days even people on their own, in a central city hotel, expect a decet size bed. One good thing was that I was able to add the duvet from the other bed to mine and therefore stay warm during the night.

PoorOn arrival I was informed although I had a bookin greference there was no room booked for me.I had to show the staff the late rooms confirmation email to get a room at the discounted rate.I was given a room without anyy windows, very dirty and could not even get a mobile signal as the room was in the middle of the hotel, without a window.I will not be staying here again or at any thistle hotel.

Aberdeen here we comeWas very disappointed in this hotel. It was not the cheapest of week day accomodation but the not the most visitor friendly either. The double room was tiny and I have never seen a wardrobe so small in my life. There were no tea and coffee making facilities in the room which I have never experienced before as we all like a cuppa first thing in the morning before venturing outside. Two mornings in a row I was woken from my bed by a fire alarm which we were not informed about on arrival. There were painters in corridor by the lift which made you fell like you were a nuisance to them by having to pass on several occassions.Would think twice before staying here again. The City was beautiful but the hotel made me want to get home to Glasgow.

just one nighthotel was under construction when we arrived but reception is well signposted. once you get past all the scaffolding and workers the room itself was superb. bathroom was sparkling new with a great monsoon shower... also some great views over union terrace gardens. because of its central position its a great base for a night out on the town.

Currently being renovated- dont stay there! While the website gave the impression that the hotel was modern and refurbished the reality was a different story. On arrival there is scaffolding and a look of general run down disrepair. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful but my room which was non smoking had n awful stale smell of smoke and was old fashioned looking with drab curtains and carpet. There were flies in my room and when i opened the window to get some air in even more flies came in which made me feel a bit sick. In the night i was freezing as the duvet was so thin and there were no other blankets or throws. If i had been staying in Aberdeen more that one night i would have definately had to change rooms or hotels. I had a stinking headache from the fumes of the paint which also did not help my stay. Although my room was only £55 i would have much rather paid more to stay somewhere not in the middle of a renovation.

Not one of the Refurbished roomsRoom was fine, but it wasn't one of the ones that had been refurbished. The hotel is like a building site inside at the moment as they are refurbishing the entrance hall and stairways. It should be finished by the end of June 2009. The Cleanliness score is rate like like mainly due to shabiness of the room we had, ( bathroom tile grouting mainly), but the bedlinen was perfect as was the floor. I was diissapointed that we had a room that was so knackered, esp as I'd booked with more notice as the lat time I stayed, and I then I got one of the better rooms. Other problem was that the hotel didn't know we were booked with late rooms, so this might be the reason for the 2nd rate room. Moral of the tale - confirm by phone with the hotel before you arrive! Staff were brilliant though, and once it's finished it'll be worth visiting again. Breakfast was superb, and not even too pricy for a nice hotel like that.

Thistle AberdeenSteer well clear until they have completed the reservations unless you can get a completed room. My room was very poor and not clean with some dangerous loose tiles in the bathroom. Food was okay but at £99 room only it was terrible value for money.

I found the hotel and room very clean and comfortable, the only fault I had was the lack of towels, for a double room with 2 occupants there was only one hand and one bath towel. On the plus side the hotel couldn't have been in a better location and was very close to the shops, nightlife and train station.

great hotel, great locationIf you can get a quality room,at these prices, with a good breakfast, in a central location, with a car park better than this, you are doing well!Only negative- came back to residents bar at 11.40 pm with 14 people(all guests in the hotel) to be told the bar closed at 12!! we had to go out to get a drink-maybe thistle can tell me why?

this is a lovely, clean, central hotel. The rooms are beautifully decorated with everything you need in them. (The cups for the tea however, could do with being a bit bigger). The bathroom is very modern and the shower is fantastic and always hot water when you needed it!! The staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast was served until 10.30am and even at this time there was still plenty hot, fresh food. The only disappointment was that the residents bar closed at midnight. We were there with another 12 people for a surprise party and were looking forward to going to the residents bar after having been out for a lovely meal.
