location was great, and the hotel was quiet and clean but in need of an extreme make over. The fixtures are worn and in disrepair curtains and bedding are frayed and thinning. The water temperature fluctuates from very hot to very cold after you are in the show for about 15 seconds. The bed was mediocre.

I will not stay here again. There were only 2 wall plugs in the whole room located in the bath-room. In addition, it took several minutes before getting warm water from the sink or shower each time. It ran out of warm water at the middle of my shower (in the winter time). The arcade machines has cheated my money. About 1/3 of them doesn't work. There is no attendant there to get your money back. The only positive thing is the location where it is next to the beautiful Lake Tahoe.

This is the north shore Cal-Neva. Long story short, Great they had a room on short notice. during the week. well ok. It overlooks the lake. Save you dime.. Pillows you could break the window with yes all of them. NO continental breakfast, and to top it off with a bang. 10 channels of TV none of which are premium.and I didn't see any advertisement for wi-fi either so go for the spa and pool cuz. enjoying your room isn't happening if your thinking about cuddling up to an afternoon movie or any other favorites you may have. Resort, Kids, TV? 2008. No Free Breakfast. What's missing here. But the drinks at the bar were very good and the staff was wonderfull. Don't expect to get a drink while your gambling at least till you ask. Staff was great, accomeditationds kinda cheezy for the price for a simple stay.

This is a grand old hotel that was owned by Frank Sinatra and frequented often by him and the Rat Pack. There is a tunnel that connects the hotel proper with Frank's cottage and a ghost tour. The current owners are doing a massive upgrade but the current rooms are excellent. Resturant staff was very friendly and helpful. Small casino with slots and cards plus a great circular bar with video poker.

I called and asked about ski packages and they wanted $*** for two nights and four lift tickets. Figuring full price lift tix at about $***, that would have been $*** per night. Thank goodness I did not go for this but instead got the room for $*** at online travel website. Smoke filled, dated, not clean, crazy hot at night, just plain yucky.

This place is a very good value if you are trying to book a last minute getaway to Tahoe during peak season. The room we stayed in was very nice: spacious, tastefully decorated, and comfortable. The room location was not great- overlooking the restaurant and some construction. We could barely make out some water from our window. I would have liked a better view, but you can't be so choosy when on a budget. The rest of the hotel looked like it had been very nice during its hey day, but not so much now. It's needs a good makeover. It was VERY smoky in the casino and hallways (which made us ill), but not in the room. The staff at the circle bar was very courteous and helpful, but the hours of operation and selection were very limited, which I found odd for a casino. The restaurant was completely over priced and the food was worse than Denny's or similar chains. I would recommend taking a 5 minute drive into town for something to eat. Overall, this is an acceptable place to stay if you're more interested in the scenery of Tahoe than the amenities of your hotel room. If you're short on funds it's nicer than staying at one of those budget motels.

As my title encourages, the Cal Neva (especially in its present state) is a place to first and foremost appreciate a dramatic, eerie, but beautiful history. And the views! Breathtaking, everywhere. If you can look beyond the things that need fixing, and are being fixed - example, the pool that Marilyn Monroe swam in, with the state line running through it, was green but due for draining when I was there in April - and appreciate that any tower room is super clean, comfortable, and has a view... then, something like the pool is just a point of eerie historical interest. The Lakeview Restaurant (also a guaranteed view) is to be open again in May, and I can't wait to go back for that. If you're at all into that early 60s, glamorous Rat Pack-Monroe-Vegas period, you'll be thrilled with a tour of the Celebrity Showroom and the remaining portion of the underground tunnel to star cabins. For that matter, getting inside the cabins themselves. History isn't always opulent. But it still can be thrilling.

wow, this hotel is really old and looks it. it has very shoddy rooms, with paint missing in places, the table leaning to one side, etc. i also requested and was told i would have a lake view and didn't. not only that, my room was RIGHT next to the elevators so i couldn't sleep very well. the bathroom needs to be updated as well, i didn't even want to use the shower.

My husband and I have stayed at CalNeva frequently in the past 13 years. This visit we noticed considerable need for repairs around the hotel. It's a shame because the location is beautiful.

For the price we were very pleased. The room was spacious and clean. My wife and I both also recieved 5 in quarters upon check in and had some fun at the slots:) The other casinos are all a short walk away.

Room was clean, location reasonable and staff friendly, we had an acceptable stay. But with a casino that closes at midnight, doesn't rate players, and no late night food, I see no reason that would compel me to recomend this place to a friend....especially at the price.

Very nice for the price and good location. Big rooms. The smoke in the casino was not my favorite.

The Cal-Neva has the perfect location if youre looking to do some snowboarding or skiing on Tahoe's north shore resorts. The hotel has the bare essentials. It has the most basic room with bed, bathroom, and basic linens. It is however clean and makes for a good place, for the price, to lay your head between days on the slopes. This place is all location, and not much else.

"No Hot water to take a shower for 3days. Kept promising that the engineer was working on the boiler and to give him another 15 minutes. We finally got luke warm/cold water the last night on New Years Eve. Tried to get compensated, but the manager said he would get fired if he comp the room and gave us a $20.00 certificate for breakfast the next morning. (Yuk) My husband & I had to sleep on a twin bed and the 1restaurant had buffet only which looked horrible. "

The staff was friendly & helpful, the restaurant makes you feel like their #1 customer & the feeling while you were there was nice because it was like a home away from home feeling. I will stay at this place over any other hotel in that area. And the view of Lake Tahoe was the best!

"We stayed over the holidays at the CALNEVA Resort & Spa on Lake Tahoe. We had beautiful views of the Lake and mountains. Room was acceptable and well maintained, but carpeting was worn & HVAC un- controllable. Hotel services were acceptable, but we didn't eat at the hotel. Blackjack was fun. Casino employees were very courteous. "

The room was fine for the night, but the casino closes early and the staff wasn't very friendly. The Spa was great though.

"Smokey, dingy atmosphere. Terrible service. Tried to bill us $280 for taxes already paid them. It took multiple phone calls to clear this up. Tried to bill couple in front of us a higher rate than promised even though hotel had form signed by their own employee showing cheaper rate. Stuck husband and I with two hard twin beds in the basement. Lakeview room promised, could only see tiny patch of water from room. Very noisy guests, hard to sleep."
