Although parts of this hotel are a touch shabby such as the corridors, this hotel has clean rooms, good food and good service, its location for Harrogate is excellent about five minutes walk.

1 night stay on a busy weekendStayed one night for exhibition over a busy weekend. Had to take what was available which was one of thier Club rooms at a cost of 140 pounds. Got a few freebies being a Club room which really was not worth it.The room and bathroom were a good size but very dated with a peculiar mix of furniture and fittings. They were advertising flat screen TV but our room did not have this. No iron but reception had one sent up quickly when asked. Would have probalbly enjoyed the stay had it not been for the room being very tired. The room had a huge window overlooking the from of the hotel that had appaling old thin curtains which hardly kept out the light and did not fit the window.Did not get a good nights sleep as we were awake at dawn due to light flooding in. The room was not worth the money and we will not return to this hotel due to the experience. There are much better places to stay in Harrogate. Check out other hotels for the price and you will be better satisfied and get a good breakfast included.

A very comfortable stay at the Cairn hotel HarrogateVery helpful staff and comfort and cleanliness of the bedroom was excellent. Nice bathroom, plenty of hot water and towels. Breakfast was delicious, plenty of choice and the cooking was good e.g. the fried eggs were just right, in spite of reasonably big numbers coming to breakfast. The only slight snag was that the lock on our door was difficult to operate - it was worn. However we had excellent help from the night receptionist.

The only downside to our room on the first floor was that it was situated next to a small conference room, the problem being that delegates started arriving at 6.25am apparently queing outside, signing in , and chatting . Consequently we were down for breakfast much earlier than intended ! The food and service was first rate however and the reception staff member did apologise about the noise.

Although the hotel room was a bit tired and we could only open one window slightly, it was clean, comfortable and spacious. We were delighted to be told that we had received a free upgrade on arrival and when I mentioned it was my husband's birthday the following day, a birthday card from the staff arrived at our door the following morning. We can't fault the staff who were extremely helpful and friendly. The food was very good and reasonably priced. All in all I would say that this wasn't the most stylish hotel we've stayed at, but definitely one of the friendliest and we would probably use it again if we were in the area.

Cairn Hotel HarrogateBeautiful grand entrance with many function rooms and large dining room. Tables and seating are scattered around with a lounge area. Lacks a cosy corner or coothie room for those who like that aspect. Service excellent, rooms clean and good standard. Only spent one night and food was good.

Could be a perfect hotel .Fantastic entrance lobby , very good reception staff, bedrooms could do with a face lift every thing looks old and dated , paint work is shabby but overall very clean. Breakfast was well presented and plenty to choose from. Several partys on when we were there and we found it very noisy in the early hours of the morning , though we cannot blame this on the hotel just ignorance on certain individuals. If some money was spent on doing up the bedrooms and landings i am positive it could be a fantastic hotel .

Lovely staff and great roomWe had a great stay, we got the room on Late rooms so was only £59 for the night. The staff were very helpful, the room was lovely and clean and the breakfast was fantastic. Would definately recommend this hotel. Although there was no tea and coffee in the room.

Sleepless nights in room 107The main problem was the thinness of the wall between 107 &109, you could hear exactly what was going on in the next room word for word. The first night was talking and bumping about into the early hours (little sleep), the second night there was a gay night in the hotel, an alarm bell went off at 3.15 somewhere near the hotel for quarter of an hour then the occupants of room 109 arrived back to the room with lots of talking, laughing and various noises (no more sleep). The room was sadly in need of a decor face lift, but was clean and tidy.

A bit shabby but not really chic! The hotel is well located and easily accessible. The entrance is grand but as you journey to your room the elegance disappears. Our room was quiet and the bed was comfortable, fine for an overnight stay but not for a longer stay as it was quite small. The decor was tired and maintenance left a bit to be desired. Having said that I would stay again.

Room and Breakfast DisappointingHaving stayed here before we were expecting a similar good quality. Room 109 was not as well redecorated as the previous room we had had and it was next to the service lift, which woke us up at around 4 am and it was difficult to get back to sleep. The presentation of the breakfast was not too good and not worth the money.

Lovely hotel, if shabby in places and requiring a facelift in areas. Was disapointed in the room and expected better, although the bathroom was quite nice. The hotel did have a nice feel to it and in parts was quite grand. The position was good not to far from the centre and adequate parking. Would probably go back again and hope to get a better room.
