A great location, a lovely couple and a fantastic breakfast!Just a short walk away from the City but far enough to have a really quiet good night's sleep. The bedroom was exactly what we needed and even had a flat screen TV. The couple could not have been more helpful and pleasant and the breakfast was fantastic. We had friends staying in a posh hotel in the middle of the City for 3 times more money and we think we got the better accomadation!

This is a great place to stay in York. It is easy to get to -- taxi -- or you can walk - about a mile. The hospitality is just great and the food was plentiful. The room was lovely and very airy and comfortable and quite large. The owner is very helpful and fun to talk to.

30 wedding anniversaryOur first visit to York. It was our 30 th wedding anniversary. Lovely house, many old features. Micheal and lynne made us so very welcome, very helpful on info for the area. Great breakfast, plenty of choice and top quality food used for the breakfast and plenty of it. Rooms were clean. Surprisingly quiet for being next to a busy road. Very easy walking distance from city centre. Made our time there very special, many thanks. Would recommend anyone who wants to visit york.

All round excellent place to stayAn excellent guest house - the room was very clean and spacious, power shower, tv/dvd, very comfy bed etc... Excellent breakfast served in the morning left me stuffed for most of the day!! What made this place was the owners, they were very friendly and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble for them. From brewing us up a pot of tea to providing maps and directions they were nothing but helpful. The location is very good too, about 10 mins walk out of the city centre. A car parking space was provided too. Overall a very good experience and we will be staying here again when we return later this year.

Value for MoneyThe room was fairly large with a bathroom but slightly dated. The hosts were very attentive. Breakfast was very filling with good quantity of food, with toast etc. on plentiful supply. Walking distance to centre 10 minutes. Adequately situated for a one or two night break to the City. On the whole value for the 54 pounds we paid for a night.

Short stayWe were made very welcome. The Jamieson's were very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was excellent and there was plenty of choice and served very quickly.I left a jacket behind and they sent it to me very quickly. Nor did they wish for money to do so. I felt it only proper to send them something for their consideration, cost and effort.

Very nice place to stay. Having arrived thirsty and tired after a long cycle journey, the owner made us feel at home with a nice hot pot of tea and somewhere safe to store our bikes. The shower was lovely and hot, the bed really comfortable, and a vast range of DVDs to choose from should we have needed to.The breakfast was excellent, with a wide variety, being on a gluten-free diet I was well catered forand the food was of excellent quality. The Guest House itself is really conveniently situated for the city centre of York and I would strongly recommend this place to stay to anyone.

RecommendedA very warm welcome and the room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was great and nothing too much trouble for the hosts. I had to hang around after checkout and was given a complementary pot of coffee and was able to wait in the lounge which was a real godsend. Great value for money too.

Overnight in YorkArrived early and needed to park the car.. no problem. nothing seemed to be a problem..even got tea & coffee after our long journey. Excellent advice on where to see and eat. made extremely welcome. Only downside was we booked and confirmed a large (luxury?) 1st floor double room, but got a 2nd floor standard double room. But overall it was good place to stay within easy walk of the town centre and cathedral area.

An enjoyable stay. Hospitality next to none, a cuppa on arrival, and as for the breakfast . . . Wow!Small room, but all that we needed with a comfy bed.Very limited off road parking, but that is true of most accommodation in this area. Not too far to walk towards main attractions of York.We would definately choose to stay here again. Thank You For An Enjoyable Break.

We found the hotel on haxby road, unfortunatly the road was closed due to resurfacing. therefore with limited parking near by we managed to park, then walked to burton villa. we met the landlady on the path and she explained that we could drive through the cones and her husband would greet us, which he did, and he explained that their car park was round the back which needed backing into. we left our bags, and returned later when the room was ready. The 2nd floor room was of a satisfactory size not too small but just big enough. the shower was ok but not brilliant. The breakfast the next morning was fantastic and the owners couldnt be anymore helpful. even choosing how you would like your eggs cooked. overall i found the accomodation 'average', but thats what you pay for if you pay an average price. That reason alone, i would stay here again. It does the job superbly. The walk into york is a good 10 minutes, we f;lagged a cab down which cost us only £3.50.
