The ground and location of burn hall were lovely, my expectations were very high but i sadly disappointed by the customer service and staff let burn hall down. the rooms were sufficient but unclean and unsatisfactory. would not even consider returning having nice location and facilities are great but having good staff, service and cleanliness are very important.

i found burn hall very plain and boring, rooms were not up to standard. i found some staff very rude and disrespectful and did not enjoy my stay, i would not recommend this establishment to anyone.

First room we were allocated had a strong smell of damp. We changed room to the next room to the original one which was small with a 3/4 size bed which was extremely uncomfortable. Breakfast was nice though.

good valueWe found the Hotel o be clean and pleasant but some of the decor/fittings were a bit shoddy and in need of renovation. Overall we felt it was very good value for money.

Strange mix of couples and rowdy birthday parties hitting York for the night. Avoid if you don't want to be waken up at 04:00 as they crash about the hotel!

Excellent stay My husband and I came to your hotel for our wedding anniversary. We arrived early evening on the Friday to be welcomed by a lovely person on Reception called Ann. Our room was small but adequate, we had a late meal in Benson's Bar, the person who served us was Matt, he was very polite and couldn't do enough for us. Saturday evening we booked into the restaurant and had an excellent meal, the restaurant manager was fab, he kept everyone entertained with his many tails of Africa, etc, especially the rugby game that took place that day between the Lions and Springboks. I would certainly recommend the Burn Hall Hotel to anyone, whether they were looking for a venue to host a business conference or just a few days away from it all. All the staff are very accommodating and will bend over backwards to help in any way. We had a lovely couple of days there and would certainly stay there agin!

lovely settingWe would definitely return to stay there - the gardens at the front are lovely. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The room was basic but spotless. The menu for the evening meal looked good but the food was disappointing. The breakfast had a good variety of choice but again some of the cooking let it down slightly.

Good hotel, nice grounds, basic roomsVery nice hotel in a nice quiet area outside of York - just 10-15 mins in a car. Grounds are nice to walk around and general atmosphere is good. Rooms are quite small and basic but clean all the same. Would stay again if using hotel as a base to explore but doesn't have the 'edge' for a relaxing/romantic getaway.

Booked a executive room hoping for a large bed - I would even say it was a full size double bed... big room with a very small bed placed in the middle. There is no point in paying for an executive room.

Excellent, what a find!!What a find, excellent from the moment we arrived, The food was a real surprise venison for only £9.25 and perfectly cooked, we had not booked the restaurant but even though they were very busy they managed to find us a table, breakfast was another fantastic meal, not greasy and the food always restocked.Rooms are of a high standard and the bathroom was extra large we booked the standard double and it was excellent value for money.Highly recommend.

I booked this hotel as it was described as being peaceful and relaxed with outstanding countryside views. On arrival there was an 18th birthday party in full swing and several families with young children booked in to the hotel making it more like butlins than country house. We changed rooms during the evening as we were accomodated next to a very noisy family with 3 young children. The view from the 1st room was of the car park and the 2nd room of what appeared to be an ambulance station. The menu choice was limited and expensive and we found the break to be anything but peaceful and relaxing. We found the hotel more like a glorified travel lodge than Victorian Elegance. Several other guests we spoke to were of the same opinion.
