great hotel, great value. Sure glad we didn't believe everything I read and took a chance on the the good reviews of this hotel. The hotel is old fashioned so that means small rooms like many old hotels in Europe but so what. It's clean and fresh and the beds comfortable. ( I am a clean freak so it matters ) Staff were great and the food and beer in the pub terrific. Street people in the area are a bit mind blowing but harmless. We just mind our own business and no one bothers. Don't miss a good deal. If you've done any real travellling you'll understand and be fine.

Vancouver is beautiful. Hotel Patricia is less than 2 stars...in a dangerous part of town and the rooms are barely kept clean. My budget requires inexpensive travel requirements, but this was the worst place I have ever stayed in terms of safety and cleanliness.

Have stayed there twice now, and will stay again ! We know the area is not the best, but just like any big city in the United States and world.

Ok so i am writing this review so no one ever books this hotel! It was by the far the most disgusting place i have ever been to. The sheets were dirty, there was grime in the bathroom. The door was broken, there was no fire alarm inside the hotel room. It was smelly. Took one look at it, and got out of there as quickly as possible. I can only imagine that place being used for shooting up, contacting a disease or hiring a hooker. oh yes, there were some on the street corner right outside.

First impression of the hotel was a pretty scary one. My friend and I arrived after the lobby was locked for the night. We walked through the homeless exhibit on Hastings Street to the door and the guy at the desk asked what we wanted in a really rough voice before even opening the door for us. So we head in to get our room key and head up to our room. It was by far the smallest room I have ever been in (and I have been on 6 cruises). It was very weird for the sink to be right in the doorway and not in the bathroom (which was also extremely tiny). The bed was really uncomfortable and the sheets were really rough.

In very bad part of town but staff is very helpful w/all things Vancouver. Pat's Pub in building has great beer, food and Fri/Sat live music. Close to Chinatown &" Vansterdam" strip. Just be careful , use common sense about personal safety just like everywhere anymore and you'll be fine. Wouldn't reccomend for single women travelers, but you won't find anything else even close in this almost "Hostle" price range. They are fighting an up-hill battle but when they do manage to turn this neighborhood around the Patricia will be an excellent value...

Floors are squeeking; bed is uncomfortable; bathroom is not convenient - it was just a closet (48"x30") and they cramped eveything in it; the location is very bad and not safe at all ; parking is not safe; worst is i paid 75 - I will never recommend this hotel to anyone

If you like the hostel feel, you'll love this hotel. The neighborhood requires that guests either act like residents or take a taxi to your destination; walking through is not for the faint of heart. There are several missions and needle exchanges nearby. But don't let it keep you away. I found nearby Chinatown a great souvenir destination. Also, the staff is very helpful when it comes to helping you find the bus route that is best for getting you where you need to go. I wasn't used to so few security measures (compared to high-end chains), but its Canada and I'm from Detroit. Just use common sense regarding personal safety, and you'll be fine. I would stay there again (if I couldn't afford anywhere else).

Given the price its worth it...at $*/night if you are a budget tourist...sheets and room are clean though the room itself is an old style...E.Hastings is not a good part of town....dont book for more than 1 day if off season adn you will not have any problems as you can extend...

Trust me u do not want to go here. The rooms are tiny probably the size of two appartment restrooms combined. Its in the worst neighbourhood of Vancouver.

"The hotel is in a very poor area of the city. Many homeless people are around there. The room was tiny and not very clean. The bathroom door wasn't really a door, it was a broken plastic slide thing, not very good for privacy. The water was warm when you were lucky. All in all, it was an experience I wouldn't want again."

"We were acosted by bums and prostitutes just outside the hotel. Room was nothing like picture online. Misrepresented hotel. I'm suprized they didn't charge by the hour. That's the type of hotel it was. We left after looking at our room. They don't give refunds either. Rude staff, management and owner"

we werent expecting anything elaborate. but There was approx. 5 in. between the bed and the tv stand. the bathroom-shower-sink were similar to one's you would use in a motorhome or camping. E. Hastings is where all of vancouver's homeless and crackwhores congregate. i was happy we were next to a police station.

"For a budget priced hotel, the Patricia is what it is, clean but not fancy. The owner's continue to upgrade the hotel. The front desk personnel were very helpful and knowledgable about the Vancouver area. True, the neighborhood is very sketchy, populated by many homeless alcoholics and drug addicts. This of course is not the fault of the hotel, and neighborhood development is happening. A trip down E. Hastings can be a little uncomfortable. Luckily the bus stop is a block away, and a short $5 cab ride puts you in the heart of downtown. I'd stay again!"

"We were sorely disappointed with our trip to Vancouver, and this hotel in particular. The room was tiny. There was *no divider* between the bathroom and the bedroom, and if there had been one, it would've been a curtain. Nothing looked very clean. The hotel was in a rundown part of town. Our car was broken into in their parking lot next to the hotel. I definitely suggest picking a different hotel."

"If you want to be economical and not waste money while you sleep, this is the best choice for Vancouver lodging. If you mind freaks around the hotel, sleeping in antique rooms on antique furniture with lumpy pillows, get another hotel. Before renting a room for two nights, I read a few reviews. They were accurate to say that there are questionable personalities around in the area - not so much unsafe but rather strange, people with bizarre habits, behaviour, clothing. The hotel is a few blocs into a rather depressed area. Once inside the hotel, everything is o'kay.."
