the cooking smells from the kitchen were a bit intrusive in our bedroom.

Location is superb - very central to everything. You can walk anywhere in Florence from the hotel. All staff were very friendly and helpful, from cleaners to front desk. Concierge helped us out many times with booking restaurants, trips etc and made good recommendations when we were stumped for ideas. Rooms are adequate. Mine was a bit small but my companions had a much bigger room for 3. Breakfast was very good, but could be monotonous after a week. They will make you cappuccinos for no extra charge if you ask. If noise bothers you ask for a room away from the street. Florentines enjoy late nights and they may keep you awake. Best bet is to join in the fun!

The location is the best. Near to everything. It can be a little noisy at night if you leave you window open. Single room was was small, but confortable. Staff was superb and helful.

Great location , very easy to walk to all major points of interest , room was comfortable if a little noisy late at night but only to be expected - staff were very efficient and friendly - good value , would stay there again when visiting Florence

The location was faultless, about 1-1/2 blocks from the Duomo, and very close to the Uffizi, Accademia, Ponte Vecchio, etc. The decor and cleanliness of the lobby and common areas was excellent. The room was large, with high ceilings, and the bathroom was bright and commodious. Overall the room was very clean, but on there was some evidence of mildew staining in some of the caulk around the (large) bathtub. Service was also very good (perhaps not to the overachieving level of the Breakers) and wanted for nothing in terms of friendliness and accomodation. The restaurant provides very good food and service, but was not very busy, as it was overpriced for the market.

The location is perfect, clearly in the absolute center of Florence (be aware the hotel entry is somethat hard to find up a small street). The staff was friendly and provided useful info on the hours and location of sights. The room and bathroom were large and clean, though a bit lacking in charm and decor points Though the hotel entrance is up a back street, be aware that our room and many others face on to a busy (though pedestrian only) street with a moderate amount of street noise (especially street sweeping trucks that run late at night). Good buffet breakfast was included in the rate. I would return, but I would also consider other options in this area and at this price.

This hotel wins on location - once you find it! I have stayed here twice and even with GPS the second time, it was not easy to find by car. However being able to call back at the hotel during the daytime sweltering heat of August was a real advantage. The bedroom on this visit was probably the smallest in the hotel with a view of the wall of the building opposite. I would imagine that the beds when the hotel building was a prison were just as hard. After three days we asked to be moved. The second room was much larger and far more comfortable although the view was onto the outside area of the Housekeepers room - nice view of washing lines. The bedrooms could do with a little attention although the public areas are nicely decorated. I will probably try somewhere else next time I visit Florence.

This hotel has a great location, close to everything. Finding it at the end of the day can be a bit of a challenge. The staff on the other hand was not so great, not one smiled our entire visit, they seemed put out when you asked for anything directions, newspaper, map etc. Not one appeared to enjoy their jobs. For the money I was very disappointed.

Absolutely awesome hotel. Fantastic location. Great rooms. Breakfast was delicious. Service at breakfast was fantastic although reception service was not very good. Would definitely recommend.

Location was only thing great. Beds were extremely firm (floor would be more comfortable). Could hear toilets flush and showers in use. Hotel staff acted as if we troubled them when asking for reservations, etc. Restaurant El Jino across from hotel is EXCELLENT!!!!

Very central location but at the same time noisy till midnight due to the activities around. Very comfortable and rooms are cleaned twice a day, sheets are changed every day.

This hotel has the BEST location!!!...which is what we wanted. You can easily walk to all the attractions. The staff was so friendly and helpful, breakfast was always excellent, and the view from the hotel roof terrace was breathtaking. Our room was very small, but the bathroom was quite nice. We do feel this is the best hotel to stay at in Florence.

Very nice location and a charming hotel. Only one thing negative is the room near the street is noisy in the evening.

"What a fabulous hotel! The location is perfect, 2 blocks to everything, the Duomo, Piazza Repubblica, Santa Croce, San Lorenzo Market, Uffizi Gallery, and maybe 4 blocks to the Pitti Palace. Great concierge who reserved our tickets to the Pitti Palace, and nice clean room. Large bathroom, though shower is typically European, ie. small. The air conditioning put out some of the coldest air we've ever had in a European hotel. It felt great. The breakfast was good, and generally I loved the hotel!"
