The staff were helpfull and friendly, We stayed as a family and felt safe enough but I wouldn't wnat my girls to stay there alone, as the attached hostle had many visitors sitting on the steps drinking outside and on the street. Atlthough it was very clean, the room smelt of curry, the shower we didn't use as we didn't want to wet downstairs. But it was cheap and ok for one night.

would not stay again.this accomodation is ok if you are travelling alone and do not require much of a hotel experience. my room was fairly shabby, only one towel provided, but it was replaced everyday. the cups were never cleaned though and there is no lift in this hotel. my room was at the very top had to climb up 60 steps (i counted!) and i am 6 months pregnant so was not impressed. No one helped me with my bags. the rooms are not soundproof in the slightest, my first night I didn't get much sleep as the room beside me was very noisy and tv blaring half the night, tried to ring down to reception to ask them to be quiet but my phone was not working.

What refurbishment?According to the blurb on the website this hotel had undergone substantial refurbishment: believe me, it had been a long time since our room haad seen a pint brush. Beginning in the reception, and recognising we were early for check in, the receptionist was unhelpful and could only offer a circulation area for us to leave our luggage..complete with the obligatory "we accept no responsibility etc etc". Once we had checked in our journey up two flights of stairs to our front of hotel room didn`t bode well. The carpets were worn, frayed and curling up at the edges! The walls and ceilings were in dire need of a coat of paint. The room was no better. Aside from the lack of decoration the bathroom was shabby and tiny. In fact, tiny is an understatement, you could use the toilet whilst stood in the shower. The way the bedroom radiator was fitted was a work of genius and this too was dirty and unkempt. However, all of that paled into insignificance once it came to lights out. Unfortunately we had a room which overlooked Gardner Street and for most, if not all, of the night it felt as though we were actually sleeping next to the road, literally. Having a window in the room only served one purpose: to keep the birds out. It did nothing to dull the constant drone of vehicles passing up and down the street all night, thankfully it wasn`t windy or things could have been considerably worse. I would strongly advise anyone not to consider this as a place to stay.

Radiator could not be turned of (it was boiling hot)Shower is very shabbyBed is "springy", rather painfull...Remote control defect, even after putting batteries inExtremely noisy all night long (traffic noises)First words from receptionist at arrival: Name please..., rather unfriendly

Asked for room on ground or first floor due to mobility diff's, phoned them prior to arriving, i was told yes no problem. Arrived, midnight near enough - the room given was ( 4 ) floors up, told could moved next day, could not get in bed on far side, radiator on full 24 hours - didn't get moved next night - 3rd and last night were moved to ground floor but they also have a hostel next door by which you entered past at night and heard most of time. Would not recommend for the price or room, no waterglass, milk or towel on 2nd night. Only saving grace was Anne on breakfast duties and politeness of staff when speaking to them.

Hotel was not easy to access. The infrmation about the hotel online said there was onsite parking, but this was not visable from the outside so I had to park in a nearby multistorey carpark and walk around to the hotel to ask were the onsite parking was. This turned out to be a shed like garage round the back of the hotel. The information online also never mentioned that to use their onsite parking you had to pay 10 Euros and they had to open it up for each customer wanting tot use it. So I then had to walk back to get my car out of the multistorey carpark - which I had to pay 5 Euros for -and then drove round to the back of the hotel to their carpark (shed), where it had still not been opened, so I then had to abandon my car again- this time down an alley way- to walk around to the hotel again to ask them to open it. Eventually I parked my car there. The next problem I had was when I entered my room I found dirt on the carpet floor, I was shocked and disgusted. The Bathroom was incredibly tiny and run down. There were no other rooms available for us to stay in. Thank god we were only there for one night only. The information also stated there would be a phone in our room and there was not. The restaurant that is advertised to be open at night for dinner, but this is apparently only open for breakast, however I would never choose to eat in a place where there is animal/human waste on their room floors. Browns hotel is definately not suitable for families or really anyone who wishes for a clean and efficient hotel service.

This hotel is budget accomodation..does exactely what it says on the tin! It's clean, and basic, but had good shower and comfortable bed! Breakfast is continental, again basic but suffiecient, its central ocation makes it ideal for shopping and socilaising in dublin.

This hotel is in an excellent location. Very basic but generally clean. Bedrooms could do with a major update and some tender loving care. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. We were on the fifth floor and with no lift this became very tiresome. Was disappointed when found out it was continental breakfast this should have been made clear at the time of booking.

My husband and I love dublin and the nitelife and like to stay near O Connell Street. We paid 1p for our flights so didnt want to spend big bucks on a hotel on our last visit 2 weeks ago.I must say Browns hotel was fab.The price was great for us and the location top notch. The hotel was very clean and comfortable and the staff were great. We arrived too early to get our room but they took our mobile number and rang us when our room was ready. The room was basic but very clean more then comfortable to get your head down and the bustle of dublin right on the doorstep.I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel and would definatley stay again.

The first night was spent in the apartment building room No.1. This is located behind the hotel with access via a side lane which did not feel very safe at all, having to pass corners where possible muggers could be lurking. The bottom two apartments have poor security with windows facing directly onto area which is not in any way protected from possible intruders. The main door slams loudly which resulted in little sleep during the first night. This door is often left on the latch so anyone can access the building and easily get into the bottom rooms. There were wires sticking out of the walls at 3 locations within the apartment. All in all a dreadful place to stay and not at all relaxing. The 2nd night was however better as we were moved after complaining, to a room within the hotel - this is what the ratings above refer to.

The hotel was not \"georgian elegance\" as advertised, and should be classed as a hostel not hotel (like the sign says next door). It was run down, apart from the reception area which has obviously been modernised and is the section they show when advertising. The tv and hairdryer did not work - no replacement given. The staff were friendly and helpful though. If we were staying longer than 2 days we would not have remained in the hotel.Breakfast was ok but would have liked more choice than scrambled eggs as a cooked option. In future we'd pay more money and hope to get a better standard of hotel
