There are many walking routes for the more energetic but an unmissable and easy two mile stroll from Brownber takes you along the old railway line to magnificent Smardale home to many rare birds plants and animals Smardale is a magical ‘secret’ valley which is a nature reserve of internationally recognised importance. It is also the site of the spectacular Smardale Viaduct which at 180 feet is the tallest in the UK Dogs are welcome by arrangement but we limit numbers on any given day so please confirm availability
