Business hotel full of bus touring pensionersArrived late and the night porter had kept the bar open for me. Quick check. The room was basic travel lodge style with a shower which was frankly awful. Free internet and desk in room though so big ticks there along with free close parking.Breakfast was awful, with no sign of management. Coffee was make your own instant, no!!!!!!!!!

Location is fine for motorway but heavy traffic into Wigan. Two large coach parties were booked in during our short stay. Buffet meal in evening was poor and breakfast not much better.

Britannia doesn't quite rule the wavesLets start with the positive...Checking in was a breeze, very professional on reception. And the not so positive? Well, this hotel majors on bus tours, if thats your bag then happy days, all the stayover tourists where lovely enough but the hotel had a feel of god's waiting room if you know what I mean. The room was ok, I prefer my wallpaper on the wall rather than off in places so was naturally a little disappointed. The gym is smaller than a pair of trainers so two other users made it quite a busy affair, the £1.50 entrance fee was cheap enough though. The two evenings I spent there were spoilt somewhat by a group having constant and increasingly banal arguments amongst themselves right outside my window. More than a touch of "Leave it Darren, he's not worth it". To be fair, thats not the hotels fault, but thats my abiding memory of my stay. As for the bar, rather than queue up for a pint of overpriced beer I sauntered to the pub across the road, a much better experience. I didn't sample the food, I felt my luck had ran out and didn't fancy pushing it.

Great LocationI use this hotel for its great access to the M6 and as a base to cover the whole of Lancashire and greater Manchester.

3 Night stay - £37.50/nightStaff friendly/professional. Good little bar. Room clean and warm. Excellent value for money. Gym/swimming/sauna facilities at a small charge, open 8am till 9pm. Plenty of car parking spaces. Decor/furniture a little dated! I would go again at a bargain price.

DissapointedOn arrival there was no receptionist for 10 minutes and when she arrived she had been covering the bar as staf had not turned up.I must say that I was very dissappointed at the standard of the hotel as it appeared very tired and in need of a complete refurbishment. It took nearly 15 minutes to be able to get the shower / bath mixer to provide water at a reasonble temperature and once acheived I had very little water. The buffet served for dinner was very basic and the food very over cooked, once again it took 10 minutes to be shown a table. Once seated I was then informed to have a drink at the table I would have to go to the bar to get a drink as they would not serve at the table.I repear the comments made on the complaints form I would not recommend the hotel to anyone or visit again myself.

The room was tidy and comfortable although the cold tap in the bath was not working so did not get a shower in the morning.bed was really comfy though.Disappointed that breakfast was not included in the price and had to pay £10 for it in the morning. (That after no shower!)

Wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone. Food was horrible and service very poor.

Pleasant enoughIt may sound like damning with faint praise but the staff here were great and friendly, the bed was comfortable and the room was warm with plenty of space. On the downside the hotel is starting to look a bit frayed at the edges, the rooms could do with a refit and the bathroom suite was made of some plastic which is cracking up. Perhaps you can't expect luxury for the £47 I paid for the room, but I think the place needs a bit of love!

Okay but nothing specialThat about sums it up. Clean, hospitable and very friendly, didn't try the food but the accommodation does what it should and it's good value.
