Great City Centre FacilityThe room was bright and airy, if somewhat small. It was immaculately clean and all things that you would expect were there.The reception staff were most polite and courteous and appeared to really care about helping us, even to the extent that on the day of departure, when asked could we keep the room until noon, not 11.00am - the check-out time - the answer was no problem.All in all, for a reasonable price, we got a good deal and experience to match.

Britannia Manchester is withing 10 minutes walking distance from Manchester Piccadilly rail station. Nice location on large avenue, Portland Street, with a bunch of restaurants on both sides of street. Rooms are average for Europe, but furnished nicely. Good bit of noise comes in off the street, but to be expected. The hotel has seen better days, but is a good value in present economy. Downtown Manchester is small enough to walk around, but bring good shoes. Navigating the bus system is confusing. Don't miss the Science and Industry Museum in SW corner. For shopping, head to the large Arndale complex. in the north of the city.

I always stay here when in Manchester and it's a perfect going-out location; while the single rooms are small, that's fine for me (just some americans may not be used to it). They are often able to accomodate early check in, which after a long flight is most appreciated. The rooms are usually quiet, altho you do want to make sure to ask for a window in yours - some central rooms may have no window.

No fitness centre is unusual in a hotel of this class. Two of the juices at breakfast were tainted but were removed after I commented on the second day. On check-in I was initially told my pre-booked rate was unavailable on a "computer says no" basis, until a more senior member of staff intervened and sorted it out. Comfortable large rooms, although my "suite" upgrade was really only a double room on a split level.

No ACI had a very cheap room which was superb for an overnight stay - however, there was no AC in the room and I almost roasted! Even a fan of some sort would have been sufficient.

Large comfortable rooms with a good range of facilities (tea/coffee making and also toilettries in the Twin for sole use room). Hot buffet breakfast was very nice and the staff throughout the whole hotel were lovely - very cheery and helpful. Very central location - close to Picadilly train station and a short walk to the Arndale Centre, other shops and Chinatown. Would recommend.

Would definetly go back Very friendly staff and comfortable, well equipped rooms right in the middle of Manchester. The only down side is that the bedroom window would not open very far which made the room a bit sticky at night, but that is all.

Hi, our room was really small, bathroom was in a poor state with cracked tiles and repairs had been carried out with mismatching tiles, old shower. Room furniture was marked and dusty. Paid £120 for the room and will not make same mistake again. The room doors were not even painted and the smoke detector in room did not even have a cover so who knows if it worked. Window latch broken. Lobby is grand and elaborate however this is a mask for the state of the rooms it leads to.

Excellent!!Hotel beautifully presented. Period property, large and well cared for. Staff friendly and helpful. Busy check in caused a delay but nothing major. Room was up on sixth floor, lift only goes to fifth. But wasnt an issue for me as I only had a small bag. I am sure that help would have been offered if I had a problem with more luggage.My single room was lovely. Just a scaled down version of the main ones. Very quiet as above the city noise. Bed so comfortable I slept better than at home!Only adverse comment I can make is that the hotel bar was full of young drunks from a 21st birthday party held in the hotel that evening.They were abusive and stupidly were also loud and offensive to a coloured member of staff who asked them to tone the noise down a little.Nothing was done and other residents did not feel they could interfere .I dont think I would use the late bar on my next stay, which is a shame as its a lovely room! It is a difficult situation , I realise, but
