what a nightmare! we booked the room as a one night stay over as we were flying out from manchester the next day! we got the room on lateroooms which is normally really good and a site i always recommend to people! we went for the mystery hotel and were really pleased when we saw the pics and the readup of this hotel! then when we checked in we realised what a mistake we'd made! the hotel had failed to mention that they were holding 3 weddings the same night we'd booked for! the room was really cheap through laterooms(thats the whole point of using laterooms) but however cheap a room is you dont expect to end up in a part of the hotel clearly hidden away from the rest of the guests and clearly given to ppl who book rooms cheap! the room was small, over heated to the point it made us feel ill and not a scratch on the rooms weve normally gone with with premier inn for the same price!! i didnt sleep a wink all night due to other guests running around the landings all night and my partner had to help an elderly lady into her room when her keycard wouldnt work and several calls to the front desk proved unheard!! this part of the hotel is clearly not staffed and we will definatly not be returning to this hotel in the future! from now on we will stick with premier inn and know that regardless of how much we paid for the room we'll be treated the way you expect!!! sad thing is the carvery is really nice and was the only thing we walked away feeling satisfied after!

staff were rude, not helpful at all, we were told we were first told we had no reservation, then there were no rooms then we could have a room but had to pay again! during this staff had no interest in helping us, never been to a hotel of such a poor standard! would never come here again and will spread the word!

Cheap..not so cheerfulParking was not so good, this hotel must be used for aiport parking as it was difficult to find parking, and the car park was narrow in places or a dead end and difficult to turn around unless fairly confident. No remote for TV in room. Dated Decor, Buffet breakfast limited. Would not use this hotel again, even if it was cheap.

Quite grimThe room was very old fashioned, with old and damaged armchairs. The carpet had not been thoroughly vacumed and I spotted a beetle crawling around. The bar area smelt of vomit. They had the cheek to charge £2.50 to use the pool and sauna area. The pool was too small to have a swim in, only good for splashing around. The other spa facilities were OK though and the shower area was nice and clean and modern. The worst part was the function room party with music blaring until 1am. Totally unnacceptable if you had an early flight from the Airport or were tired from a 6 hour drive like we were.

NOISEY, NOISEY, NOISEYThe hotel is very large and is used ALL night for airport transfers. We stayed in Room 13 and ALL night the fire doors in the corridor banged shut. People get up about every 15 mins to checkout of the hotel! At 2:30AM we thought it'll stop soon, at 4:00AM we thought it would stop soon, but NO it happened ALL night be warned!

Even though I selected breakfast the hotel tried to class me as a room only - but still make me pay for breakfast. Room itself was nice, bathroom not the cleanest and the restaurant was in need of refurbishment. Overall happy for the price - but had I paid any more would have a different view!

Country Hotel or Airport Hotel? From Laterooms web page the description id not state that the use of liesure facilities was extra. Our room was next to a hall doorway and it was constantly banging shut. We pointed this out to reception but nothing was donme during our stay. The accommodation was ideal for us in terms of locality but we woulc not use it again due to it being more of an airport hotel rather than a country hotel as described. We could see by the amount of cars ecerywhere that this hotel was being used by airport users. We should have realized this when reading that airport transfers were provided. The reception appeared to be undermanned at times and my credit card was debited the full amount for our stay upon arrival. It would have been nice to have been asked if this was ok. Would not use this hotel again.

Wouldn't mind a longer stay...We stayed one night whilst we attended an event at a nearby hospital. On arrival the staff were friendly and check-in was quick, although I didn't notice until next morning that they had omitted to include breakfast, as ordered on-line, in the room booking. Our room was well set out and clean although the bathroom floor could have done with a scrub (or the flooring replaced - it looked a bit too old to get properly clean). I intended to get up at 8am the next morning for a swim in the pool but got an unplanned alarm call at 7am (by mistake, with a cursory 'sorry' when I said so), then didn't wake up until 9am. Can't comment on the food, although the menus incl. room service looked good and the prices were reasonable. On check-out, I mentioned the missing breakfasts and unwanted alarm call, the clerk apologised parrot-fashion so it didn't seem at all sincere. Good value for the price - it was a fairly late booking - spoiled by a couple of careless mistakes by hotel staff. They were busy with a very large wedding party that day though, so I'd give them another chance.

Feedback on Britannia Country HotelThis is a hotel used for Airport transfers. The car par is packed and you struggle to park near to the hotel. Due to lack of space in the car park I got blocked in at 645am when I had to wait on a full bus loading all passengers + luggage. I didn't eat in the hotel as the only option as a main was pizza or burgers. The ironing board room was in the other side of the hotel. Overall not a pleasant stay.

Great locationThis is really nice hotel. My wife and I stayed for our wedding anniversary, our room was excellent, comfortable and very clean. We didnt experience the restaurant in the evening as we went out to one of the many places locally, it really is very well placed for any number of dining and leisure activities. Breakfast was superb and well organised and check out fast and efficient. The only critisism was that the staff are on the light side and at times clearly working at full stretch.

On arrival, there were only two staff on reception and checking in took over half an hour. On entering the room it was tiny. I considered that for the price paid, this was inadequate. In addition, the bed had completely broken in half and could not bear the weight of any person. I returned to reception whereupon the assistant allocated another room. On entering the second room, (luckily) there was no one present, but there were clearly personal item evident - it was occupied. A third room allocation proved to be satisfactory.
