On the whole I was pleased and will be stopping again Being in a smoking room on my own the price I felt was a little over the top, I would have liked to have seen a menu for bar and restaurant in my room.

The room needed painting ......window covering (could not be described as curtain) did not exclude light & needed replacing. Not a good experiance.

GeneralAll staff are pleasant and helpful, but stay would be enhanced if there were more of them !Rooms are adequate for a short stay, but for a longer stay, room storage space would be inadequate.

Dirty RoomWelcome from man on reception very courteous and efficient. Went to room and had shower, then found that hairdryer didn't work. Rang reception who said that they try and find a hairdryer we could borrow - rang back a minute later to say that they didn't have one so they would change our room. This was fine, as we didn't have much to repack and unpack again. However, new room very grubby - cobwebs, urine around WC pedestal. Whole hotel looks tired and in need of refurb. Breakfast very good, though one four slot toaster for up to 100 diners not up to it!Only redeeming features were the helpfulness of staff and the cheap rate (£57 for 2 inc breakfast)

The Britannia HotelI have stayed at the Britannia hotel a few times now and each time has been as pleasent as the last. The rooms are adequate for a short overnight/couple of days stay. The staff are helpful and friendly and the service is generally good.

welcome to Bolton ! After a 4 and half hour drive from Kent we were welcomed and were given the room we requested. Not many people require a smoking room, but we were given one. The room was clean, the beds were comfy the wardrobe was a bit tatty but most importantly in the bathroom there was a shower cap for my frizzy hair and lovely new white towels! Happy Hour was in fact two hours a large glass of red wine and a pint of lager for £4.50 ! Had very nice weekend visiting family and a comfy nights sleep !

Our third visit this year!Still havent figured out how the heating system works! Our room definately needs some attention - there was staining on the chair and carpet and cracked floor tiles in the bathroom, but still a comfortable stay which was suitable for our needs. Thanks.

Stay on 24/3/09On arrival - room allocated has not been cleaned / tidied from previous guestNo iron in room and despite asking for one that night and multiple calls the follwoing morning it arrived too late to be of any use - this is a key requirement for a traveller and let the hotel down badly

They run such a tight ship it's difficult to find anyone to do anything! Manager was unhelpful and defensive....I would avoid at any cost in the future.

Bar FoodWe arrived late and ordered a sanwich when this arrived it had a tomato relish on the sandwich that was not described on the menu we pointed this out and we had a long wait for the next sandwich.

Gr8 value!Was perfect for our needs - up from London to visit a sick relative in hospital. So peaceful we stayed an extra night and would certainly stay here again. Very relaxed and friendly, clean and comfortable room, free wifi making business easy, best value hotel for miles around.

Fine for business!A more than adequate establishment for business travel. Evening meal deal was good value and of a good quantity. Staffing levels were a little low.

Britannia Hotel, Bolton For some reason I was booked for room only although our contractor HLSP had told us it was bed and breakfast. At the two breakfast I took I was told firmly and quite aggressively that I was room only. On arrival at the hotel I was asked for my credit card, which without discussion was authorised for up to £150. The roomn was very cold and given the reception we had had from the staff I did not want to complain. We were told on the second night we were on a £94 a night basis even though our contractor said there was an agreement of £47 per night b&b. There were numerous phone converstaions between our contractors and the hotel reception and on the first night we were told it had all been sorted out. However, the next day I was still told I was on a room only basis and would be charged for breakfast. When we came to check out on the morning of our departure we were told that the computer system was down so they could not effect our check out. The desk clerk said he could not give us a hand written receipt as he did not know what the charge was. I did receive an invoice, with the amount deducted from my credit card, the next day. The charge was £47 per night but I had also been charged for a breakfast at £6.95. A thoroughly distressing experience and I am recommending that HLSP does not use this hotel again.Professor Brenda Poulton guest, 10th and 11th February along with Sue Winterburn, Margaret Lascelles and Diane Barrowclough.

Staff were polite attentive and helpful .Food was a well varied menu and well served . However the dishwasher wasn't doing a good job. Many large plates had food remains on them . Cups/mugs had no saucers. PLEASE offer real coffee Our room was basic but perfectly adequate. It was clean and warm with facilities for drinks .It was a good base for our stay in the area.Let us know of any offers!

After being refused an early check in (1pm) by the rude Manager,we returned at 11pm to find their still wasn't a room avaliable for us. We didn't expect a lot for £35 but we thought somewhere to sleep would be provided. When we did eventually get a room the bed sheets were filthy, Manager no where to be seen.

I loved that there was a fridge/cool box in the room. The room was air conditioned with AC controls. There were plenty of parking spaces when I arrived and left. The interior of the hotel looked classey. We were half an hour late leaving the room, yet there was no disturbance to hurry us up by the hotel staff.

Hotel is very tired, corridors grubby and depessing. Room however was good, comfey bed and quiet. Bathroom a bit out dated and could have done with a good scrub, however for Â£35 what do you expect!
