In the spring of 2007, Breezes Runaway Bay re-opened after receiving a $20 MILLION EXPANSION & RENOVATION. Located forty-two miles from the city of Montego Bay, the renovation features a new, low-rise, 30-room wing with seven one-bedroom suites, and eight verandah suites with private plunge pools. Thirty garden view rooms have been expanded into forty verandah suites, each also with plunge pools. All room categories offer new furnishings, liquid-crystal display televisions, and wireless Internet access. Munasan and our beachfront Reggae Cafe are our two newly added restaurants. New Blue Mahoe Spa offers variety of treatments and products. Beachside and garden gazebos are available for wedding ceremonies. Two new pools were added to supplement the existing Olympic-sized main pool. Tucked away on the finest expanse of beach on Jamaica's famed North Coast, Breezes Runaway Bay Resort & Golf Club remains one of the world's truly great escapes. Encompassing more than twenty lush, green acres, Breezes Runaway Bay Resort & Golf Club feels worlds away from reality. The gentle fragrance of tropical flowers drifts in the sea breeze. The horizon is a brilliant collage of white sand and azure water. And you're free to be yourself, in a hammock beneath a swaying palm...or re-invent yourself, with video-assisted golf & tennis schools, the best SCUBA in Jamaica and a PGA-quality golf course so challenging it's been the home of the Heineken World Cup of Golf Western Qualifying Tournament 7 years running, as well as host to many other local and International tournaments. *** New features at Breezes Runaway Bay includes: In-room service is now provided for continental breakfast. This was out second time to Breezes Runaway Bay. We went 3 years ago, which was before the renovation, and in June 2009 which was after the renovation. I like what they've done. Basically the same resort with more pools and restaurants. Same great service. I love the all inclusive aspect because you never have to open your wallet, which is just a great feeling. We met a lot of cool people there and it was easy to get along with everyone - we were all in paradise looking to relax so you automatically have something in common with everyone else. If you want to keep to yourself you can do that too. The crowd wasn't too wild, but just wild and crazy enough. More conservative than the Hedonism crown, and no "spring break" vibe of any kind. Just a lot of good, clean fun. This isn't a pretentious place - lots of middle class people looking to enjoy themselves in paradise. It's a very comfortable place with a good vibe. There aren't poolside wait staff like in Vegas or Hawaii - you do have to get up from the beach or pool and fetch your own drinks, which isn't a problem for me; I'm just trying to paint the picture of the experience. If you want to be waited on hand and foot, you may prefer a more expensive resort. This place is perfect for us, but may not be perfect for everyone. The check in process was easy. We were felt welcomed from the moment we arrived. The room was clean, had great A/C, and was very quiet. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. We ate at the buffet at breakfast and lunch usually and went to all of their restaurants. The buffet always has something and it's pretty tasty. The Italian and Japanese were our favorites. The Starlight was a little slow on service, which was really the only issue we ever encountered. As for their bars, the drinks were plentiful and strong - we never felt like we couldn't get a drink. And no tipping whatsoever - what a plus! We went in June, which is supposed to be rainy. The weather was fantastic with only a couple of r

Excellent customer relations! excellent service at all levels, very good for husband and wife. They need to upgrade the facilities and improve restaurant options. Very good experience!

We chose Breezes for our stay at Jamaica because we were looking for a calm and relaxing vacation. We had also looked throught reviews of the hotel from another advisory website. For the majority of our trip we stayed on the beach. We did go on an ATV Chukka Cove tour which can be booked through the hotel, which was very enjoyable. The food was good and there was some form of entertainment each night. We also went on a shopping tour which was wonderful, partly because our driver didn't just take us shopping but gave us a tour of the areas. Overall the trip was wonderful, the only thing I could complain about is the room service. The maids didn't come to clean the room until about 4 in the afternoon. I would stay at that hotel again.

This is a great place to visit to have a great time and near perfect beach experience. The staff was very friendly and expects nothing but a smile in return. The beds in the rooms were not that great but I didn't spend much time in there anyways. Don't worry about a thing while you're there!

There's always something to do, from water sports to group games or, just laying around enjoying the sunny days and warm breezy nights in the many secluded hammocks and jacuzzis. Actually, the afternoons are fairly windy on the beach so watch out for the sandblasts. The dive masters were excellent and there were several different dive sites right offshore. The optional night dive was pretty spectacular. Top shelf liquor is available but, of course you must ask for it. A few small tips to the staff go a long way. A wide variety of food was always available, some great and some ok. Make your dinner reservations as soon as you arrive and for the excursions as well. We missed the orientation and really wished we had gone as we found the information would have been quite useful. Be aware....if you don't like to be hasseled while shopping(such as in Mexico)you won't like the market in Ocho Rios. If you don't mind, you can really get some good bargains. The rooms were clean and spacious, but the beds were VERY firm. Keep in mind this is not a new hotel nor a five star, but certainly adequate and well worth the trip. I hope you enjoy your trip as much as I did mine.

We planned this trip based mainly on cost. We were looking for a beautiful paradise-type location, all-inclusive that was an afforadable option. This resort provided all of these perks but with several costs. The service wasn't great. We didn't have shampoo for the first 2 days. The crowd that was also clearly drawn to the all-inclusive low-cost option was a rowdy bunch that drank all day and all night. It was hard to escape the noise. And one night we got into bed and realized they had used bloodied sheets on our bed. Lastly, I was frustrated they boasted having 5 restaurants to choose from but failed to mention how you need to make reservations a day in advance for the 2 nicest restaurants and they are often booked. I would recommend this to a friend who was looking for an affordable week away in paradise because we did have a gorgeous beach with great activities. Most of all, we took advantage of the very helpful tennis pro and played once or twice a day with him.

While we were there, we spent a lot of time at the beach and we drank copious amounts of alcohol. The night life was uneventful but the scenery was beautiful. We have never taken a previous trip.

Our experience at Breezes, Runaway Bay, was excellent. The staff is the friendliest I've ever encountered- wonderful people, there to make sure you have everything you need! The rooms were decent sized- some of the folks in our party had musty-smelling rooms, but a candle worked well to clear the smell. Snorkeling was great, as was the trapeze (we did that 4-5 times- very fun). We could always find a chair at the beach or by any of the pools. View is amazing and the expanse of beach is fantastic. We went off property to Dunns River Falls- not to be missed; and we did a zipline tour- also a blast! Golf was fantastic- course was empty, caddies were extremely knowledgeable and the fairways and greens ran really fast! I hope you enjoy as much as we did!

scuba diving every day which was great. did not like the way you had to sign up for things between certain times of day; would have preferred calling at my convenience to sign up for things. also would have liked to have a list of activities for the next day and list delivered to may room. staff did not seem very interested in our doing the activities. service at the buffet was very slow and was difficult to get coffee or tea. food at restaurants not great but ok I was very uncomfortable in the room because if the air conditioner was on I was freezing and if it was off the room became very moist and stuffy. there was no public place to go at night when it was raining that was not smokey and very noisey.also the entertainment was very loud and could be heard in the room so well that it was difficult to read or watch tv. If you are not interested in the nightly entertainment, you should ask for a room away from the bar

Breezes Runaway Bay is everthing that it is advertised and more. A solid 3-1/2 to 4 star facility with the best staff you will find anywhere. Excellent value for the price. The food was good and the water sport possibilities were non stop. The circus trapeeze was a lot of fun. A lot of the guests were return guests that said they would not go anywhere else. Overall a very enjoyable and relaxing vacation.

We have stayed several times at this resort! The people there make it feel like we're coming home! We feel safe even when we leave the property. There is lots to do and you should at least watch the entertainment activities!! Take advantage of what resort offers from snorkling, trapeze, wind surfing, the food, ask the bartenders for their "specialty" and be pleasantly surprised!!

It is impossible to not have a good time. The staff is amazing and senses and responds to each guests level of desired fun whether you just want to veg or get involved in the activities. The staff is truely what seperates Breezes Runaway Bay from other resorts. From Sandra and Stacey in the front office, Janice in the dining area, Eroll at the bar, Chris, Jason, and Carlton on the entertainment staff and 'Bubba' in the Munasan Japanese restaurant. We had a little snag with our reservation where two of the guests in our party got check-out notices a few days too early, but, Sandra quickly resolved the issue. The rooms are a little dated and could use some rejuvenation (except for the new building), but, how much time do you really spend in your room? It's not Sandals, but, you're not paying a Sandals price. It is perfect in every other aspect and exceptional in its service.

Great location. One hour from the airport. Fun active resort. Great golf course on property. If you like to golf, have fun, and enjoy the sunshine at a fair price Breezes Runaway Bay is for you.

My lady and I got married at Breezes and could not have asked for much more. If planning on getting married, consider this hotel, they took care of everything and we absolutely wonderful. The staff at the resort was amazing throught the trip. The location, though a long trip from the airport, was great. The beach was very clean and you could do some excellent snorkeling right out in from of the resort. Rooms and property were clean and of good size. The Starlight Cafe was awesome (great food and out under the stars)and the food over all was very good. We had our wedding right on the beach and it was gorgeous. I would highly recommend this hotel for all and will likely go back one day.

It was very beautiful. Everyone there was very nice. There were so many things to do at the resort we did't really get a chance to go anywhere else. It was so much fun. I can't wait till next year.

The hotel was spectacular. We had an ocean front plunge pool room that was amazing. The reef outside the hotel was the best ever! We snorkeled constantly on it. I recommend bringing your own snorkel gear if you really like to snorkel as sometimes the hotel ran out of the loaner gear during the day. Tipping was not allowed but in a lot of cases made the service so much better. The only reason I gave this place 4 stars instead of 5 was because in a lot of cases the service was slow and there was a lot of waiting which is not what I wanted to do on vacation. However, when buses come to pick you up they are on time and they were not too happy when we were 5-10 minutes late. Seemed like a double standard to me. They really need a better system to get into the restaurants too as I didn't want to stay in my room all morning trying to call for reservations. All in all, for the cost of the vacation and wedding, it was just beautiful, clean, and again the reef/beach was so fun!

This is our 2nd trip to Jamaica and first to Breezes. I can't say enough about what a great time we had! The staff is absolutely the very best! After the first day it seemed like they all knew our names. The resort is much smaller (# of rooms) than the last one we stayed at so it was much easier to get to know people and get very personal attention. There are so many activities that, if you want, you can be busy every single minute of the day. We did most of what was offered (even did the trapeze which was awesome!). Food - we ate at all of the restaurants and my favorite was the Japanese and the grill. I was not very impressed with the Reggae cafe although it was convenient if you got the munchies while at the pool or beach. The buffet was also very good, not haute cuisine but great variety and always tasty. Beach/Pool - both were lovely, very clean and not crowded at all. There are two pools and one is right next to the bar and generally livelier. The other is an infinity pool which is smaller and quieter. Bars - all of the bartenders were very friendly and made awesome drinks. I know you're not supposed to tip but some people were and I didn't notice that they got any better service than those who were not tipping. We did not spend any time in the disco, it was WAY to loud and WAY too dark to enjoy. I never saw more than a few people in there at a time. Rooms - The last resort we stayed at in Jamaica had way more luxury in the rooms. These are very standard rooms, like a nice Holiday Inn, but they were clean, we had no issues with the plumbing, air, or bugs (some of the things I have heard about with the hotels there). We were really only in the room to bath, dress or sleep and it was fine for that. The only real disappointment I had with the room is that there are no refrigerators in any of the rooms which I found strange. Activities, what can I say...too many to mention: snorkeling scuba diving (no charge) trapeze beach games bar games bingo karaoke dancing cou

Breezes Runaway Bay was a great value for the money. If you like vacations with a lot of activities I would recommend a stay at this resort. Tourism is down in Jamaica in general and a lot of the activities had little participation - but the hotel offered plenty and the staff was friendly and accomodating.
