Lovely location and potentialThe rooms are very small but have character. However the bathroom was dirty. I spilt water on the bathroom floor, mopped it with a tissue and it was black. Similarly the toilet wasn't clean and the bathroom looked generally grubby. The price is a little high for what you get.

Not a typical stay in the countryThe room was sparse albeit clean. There was very limited hot water for a shower which was extremely unpleasant. The floor in the bathroom was similar to a kennel floor and was terrible to walk on and not nice to look at either. There was not enough towels for two people to shower and the bed was only 4 ft wide and very small for a couple to sleep in (and we are not large people at all!!). The inn looked more like a cheap hotel in a big city. We were very disappointed and used it just as a place to rest our head before we headed out in the morning. No charm. No towels. No hot water. I would not recommend staying here again.

Obviously one of their £39/night roomsWe had a mixed experience. The hotel is in beautiful grounds and is very striking / surreal as the interior has been modified to look like a ship! The hotel had obviously been made over at some point and it was quite a nice job if you like the 'themed' hotel approach - I quite liked it. However we were a bit dissappointed to be put in a room which was over the kitchen and smelt of food, and had some kind of electical noise going on all night. Also the shower tap came off in my hand and although the room looked great to start with, once we were settled in it was a little ragged around the edges. I suspect that we were put in this room becasue we got a laterooms £39 bargain, but we did leave disappointed as actually staying in the room wasn't too pleasant. Would stay here again if it was on another side of the hotel.

weekend This is a conference hotel which appears to be taking bookings for other guests to fill the rooms. In desperate need of TLC, very dissapointing as expected a better quality hotel with the De Vere group.Rooms are small, dirty and noisy. Have been updated with modern furnishings. Bathrooms very small, grotty with a basic shower. Also don't have twin rooms so had to get a Z bed in second room.Rates are cheap, location is good. But would never stay there again!

The room was tiny and as it overlooked the rear lawn, was very noisy due to sound carrying from people on the terrace. It is not ever so easy to get aroung if you're mobility impaired, lots of stairs every where and designed on a strange 'ship' style. Bathroom only had a shower and was a bit dusty. Free tea and coffee points around the hotel was a nice touch.

The lady on reception was friendly and helpful. The hotel was well designed and attractive and set in lovely grounds. However, our room seemed to have paper thin walls and we had people tramping past to the gym at the end of the corridor, and noise from the foyer area. There was no light or bedside table on my side of the bed.

My only comment would be that the drinks were expensive, would have been better off having a bottle of wine rather than drinks with our meal.

Good for GoodwoodWe stayed here for two nights whilst visiting the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Nice commercial conference hotel although the Cruise Ship theme seemed a little dated but nevertherless funny. Good clean room, bar a little pricey but to be expected can't comment on the food because we didn't eat here. Would stay again and would recommend to others.

Loved the coffee station. Everything else was to the standard you would expect from a De Vere.

good staymy partner and myself stayed for only one night and did not eat at the hotel as we had other dinner arangments planned but the room we stayed in was very clean, presentable and had a lovely view. the bed was very comfortable, the hotel staff were polite and helpful and were happy to book us a taxi. we thought it would be a lovely setting for a wedding reception and the grounds are very well kept and presentable. overall we had a lovely stay and it was good value for money.

Midweek stayHotel set in a lovely setting, although satnav's may take you to the wrong side of the grounds. Amazing value. and very quiet This is obviously a wedding & conference hotel and must make money at the weekends.

A Ship Out of WaterWhilst the design of the buildings is interestingly different the reception is showing it's age and could do with re-decoration.

A thoroughly enjoyable stay in every aspect, wouls strongly recommend. Only slight downside is that the bar shut at 10pm, but it in no way ruined our stay.

overnight stay onlyhaving read a few reviews before we booked, I was a little concerned about the accommodation, but although the room was a little on the small side, it was clean and adequate for our purposes. We were in a room separate from the main hotel, but the staff were very helpful in looking after us and the grounds were superb.
