Burntouts at Braddon HallNot many folks will even entertain a group of 17 blokes on motorbikes never mind welcome them with open arms but Braddon hall did. Superb hosts who went out of their way to make us welcome. Rooms excellent and we were all totally overwhelmed by the comfort of the beds.Breakfast excellent with no quibbles for the odd extra. They even cooked us an evening meal and supper although this wasn't specisically offered.I can thoroughly recommend Braddon Hall to everyone and if we are return to Torquay next year we will certainly be rebooking. Enjoy, we certainly did.

A Victorian or Edwardian timewarp journey to a grander age of seaside hotels in Torquay !The Braddon Hall is an imposing turn of the century style building set on the high side of the road, and is only a short walk of maybe 10 minutes to the harbourfront, quaint old pubs and an excellent selection of restaurants and entertainment venues. There is adequate parking in the road outside the hotel, or you can take your chances with the very steep, narrow driveway complete with hairpin bends! The approach is certainly full of character, and the parking area was full on my arrival. It's no problem to a confident driver, but some may find it a little daunting!I was met by the lady of the house who was obviously expecting me; the service was very friendly, and her local knowledge was very good. I had booked a single room with breakfast, and my room was on the third floor. All rooms seemed to be on the second and third floors. My room was adequately furnished with a comfortable bed, colour TV, and a small bathroom. I will not criticise the bathroom as it was a single room, and it served it's purpose well with plenty of hot water. The decor was perhaps a little tired, but you get what you pay for ! I would much rather stay in a hotel like this with plenty of character, rather than some faceless concrete and glass multi-national which would cost five times as much! Downstairs consisted of the reception area, plus a large lounge/bar area which doubled as a dining room. As I had to leave early the lady of the house agreed to provide breakfast 15 minutes earlier than usual on a Sunday morning, and this was much appreciated. The dining room was light, airy and spacious; the traditional English breakfast was excellent, and I had enjoyed my stay. For 40 quid it was a bargain! If you are the sort of person who wants flash decor then go somewhere else and pay a couple of hundred quid for the privilage !!

booked a smoking room only to be told on arrival that hotel is non-smoking throughout and owner insisted i was wrong!!!!. Room was small and bed uncomfortable (room 11), bar was a joke. ok for £30 as a quick stoppover.

short breakonly stayed the one night. Start of season so no bedside tables/lamps, coffee/tea not topped up and milk out of date probably a result of this. Staff really friendly and helpful and breakfast was good. Bed was really comfy and sea views from top balcony was a bonus.

Adequate room. Good valueRoom was ok but bathroom was very small and shower had little power.Bed was very comfy and all room was clean.Nicely located hotel (nr town centre) Breakfast was good.

Mixed reactionWonderful breakfast, helpful courteous staff. Well decorated room. Within walking distance of the town. Quiet location.Such a shame that a previous conversion to add the bathroom had been so economical with the space, especially as helpfully putting a shower rack and generous 'over the door' towel rack made it even more diffcult to use.The Swiss style driveway was alarming too!

Very nice hotel, very friendly family run business. We like staying in this part of Torquay, as it is close to the town with its resteraunts and facilities, but the walk up the hill would not suit everybody. There is a bus service however with a stop at the nearby museum. I would recommend this hotel to any of my family or friends.

We booked for 3 nights & had a lovely stay. The owners are a lovely young couple, very welcoming & warm. We liked the fact that the hotel had a bar & that it was attended the whole time we were there. The outside garden & sun terrrace looked lovely- but we didn't get a chance to enjoy them as Torquay decided to rain for the duration of our stay!

Very friendly propertiors and the breakfast was one of the best ever. The hotel is located in a very good position close to everything. The room was very nicely turned out with everything you require including wireless internet. I would recommend and come again.

Hosts friendly and eager to please.Quiet location but handy for town centre and harbour. All very clean , nice lounge and dining room and good breakfast. Despite a temperamental toilet flush our double room was comfy with oodles of hot water Single room a bit small . Probably more luxurious refurbished rooms available within the hotel.Car park a little difficult to negotiate but typical hazard in hilly Torquay!
