Only stay here if you don't mind staff that ignore guests and you pay less than £50 ppnThis establishment should not be operating as a hotel as they clearly are not geared up to recieve guests and seem not to even want them on the premises. My overiding impression was that my presence was an irritant! On arrival a notice at reception directed guests to the bar. Entered the bar and felt I was in a western film - doors swing open and all occupants turn to stare at the stranger entering their territory! Barman interupted his conversation with a golfer to shout across the room 'Yes?' On approaching the bar said I wished to check-in. Barman then walked away from where I was standing to the far end of the bar and placed a registration card on the counter - I was then expected to walk over to him to complete the registration process. Given the key and brief directions to the room. Not given info re food that evening or breakfast time the next day. Room big but over looked a roof terrace, no nets on window so had to keep curtains closed and overlooked by adjacent room. Initially couldn't get hot water for a shower the next morning and after running the water for 5 mins gave up and was resigned to a strip wash at the basin. Eventually got hot water to work at the basin so tried the shower again and yes there was hot water. A notice saying if using the shower early in the morning please run the tap until hot water appears would have been helpful. Breakfast proved to be an equally dissapointing experience. 1st down and selected a table set for 2 people by the window. Waitress appeared as I was helping myself to juice from the buffet and questioned my choice of table saying "is there just one of you?" when this was confirmed she asked which seat I would be using and proceeded to clear the spare place setting moving it to a table set for one. Making it very clear that I had sat in the wrong place! My cooked breakfast order was brought to my table by an older gentleman wearing

walls very thin could hear vitually everything in adjoining rooms, asked for extra towels, had to go to the bar in the evening to repeat request which had not been passed to housekeeping, reception unmanned after 5pm more of a golg club than an hotel

two night stayThe room was large and the bathroom clean - the bed was two single together and had blankets instead of a duvet which were adequate however the tv was very small and difficult to read comments from across the room. The cooked breakfast was very good but the bread was sliced only (although this seems the main stream in English hotels) parking was on site and easy a definite plus.

Long weekend break in CornwallThe Bowood Park Golf Course proved to be an ideal location from which to explore this area of Cornwall. Tintagel, Boscastle, Port Isaac and Padstow were all within a 15 minute drive, while the Eden Project could be reached within 45 minutes. The hotel accomodation was excellent, staff pleasant and friendly as well as efficient. The rooms were large included all necessary facilities, with superb views of the golf course and surrounding countryside. The food and service were very good and the evening menu in the restaurant changed on a daily basis. Bar meals were also available in the bar for those not wanting the more formal dinner. Prices in both were very reasonable. There was ample free parking at the hotel.Whilst there were keen golfers staying at the hotel, that should not put non-golfers, as we were, off from using this hotel. Would definitely stay there again and would recommend it to friends.

Good views of dustbins and driving rangeSmall room just enough space to move around the bed. View of dustbins and noise from extractor fan in the kitchen below. Breakfast was part DIY and part from the kitchen, quality average. Tiny Tv in room but sky sports in bar. Staff helpful when asked. Did not eat dinner but found two excellent places nearby. We got what we paid for, although got the impresssion there were better upgraded rooms available. The hotel was not full, but we got the impression we were allocated the laterooms room! The golf course looked to be in good condition but the weather was inclement so we didn't play and especially not after we thought we were quoted an inflated rate by the golf shop.

When checking in we declined an evening meal as we weren't sure of our plans. However, on returning to the hotel in the evening about 8.50, we felt we would like a meal after all, but were told meals weren't served after 9 p.m. We then asked for a bar snack, and were told no bar snacks were available. Also in the morning after sitting at the breakfast table for a while we had to eventually go looking for a member of staff to ask for breakfast. Although we would stay at the hotel again, we wouldn't seek it out especially, as we felt the service could have been better, especially as the hotel wasn't busy.

This hotel is fine for a boys' golf trip in that the rooms are adequate and very clean. The level of service is very poor with no one ever seemingly on reception and restaurant staff who have clearly received little or no training on customer service. The food was also poor in that it was plastic and on one evening I had to send back a steak that was like rubber...despite profuse apologies the replacement was equally as tough and no further comment was received nor was there any offer to reduce even the £3.95 supplement that was charged. The golf course was not bad although it does have drainage problems. As I said, good for a lads' trip for golf and drinking where the standard of food/service isn't that important

Fantastic golf course, very easy to get too, close to lots of places of interest like Tintagel, Boscastle and other North Cornwall Villages. Overall it was much better than I expected from a golf club. Food was really good and great value and staff couldn't have been more helpful. Definately go again.

Hotel was easy to find and situated in a beautiful location with great views from the bar and restraunt. The golf course was superb and I would recommend it highly. All the staff were very friendly and accomodating. Twin room was a little small but has all the facilities required.

The hotel was good value for money and the accommodation was comfortable and clean. My only criticism is that the service in the restaurant at breakfast was very slow, and coffee, orange juice etc was not kept topped up so had to be requested, A buffett system would have been much more efficient and would have speeded up the process instead of having to order a cooked breakfast from the kitchen.Lack of staff seemed to be a problem when I stayed.Generally a nice hotel and i would stay again.

Evening meal waitress service could have been improved (trainees? It seemed like it)

I thought the hotel was set in a lovely location and could be appreciated by non playing golf residents, there was a hiccup with the booking although stated the hotel had not prepared a twin bedroom for us but we were given a free drink whilst waiting for our room to be cleaned. The evening meal was disappointing the vegetables arrived only warm the meat was tough and poorly presented, the other meal came without the gravy and had to be asked for. The service was slow and we decided after this we would eat out which we did, if this was improved I am sure this would benefit the hotel

the only complaint we have is that my husband had to complain about the food in the eve meal it was cold and not cooked properly , we sent it back and my steak was put in the microwave, the rest of the food was still cold when it came back.it spoilt his evening [ it was his birthday treat] he is also a ex chef qe2 . the hotel did not charge us for it but i would of expected the standard to be better for the price of the items on the menu plus a suplement was to be added in genral it was good apart from this.

Great place to stay. Restaurant needs a little more thought, though. eg Breakfast - fruit juice one side of the room, glasses to put it in, the other side. Coffee one side, milk the other. Butter pats available, but nothing to pick them up. Background music one night, not the other ...

The hotel was very easy to get to, had a really nice golf course, very quiet and relaxing atmosphere, the room was spacious and very confortable, staff was very nice, we did not had diner at the hotel but the breakfast was very plentiful and yummy! I will definitely stay there again on my way down to Cornwall!!!

The family room overlooking the car park and gas bottles as opposed to the potential lovely views over the Golf course was very dis-appointing, especially when the ball washing machine from the driving range started early in the morning and also the early morning delivery of beer barrels being banged around just below us at before 8am. At least the room was spacious and clean. The organisation of breakfast service was almost non-existance for the first 4 days but was improved on the last day (items regularly running out, no croissants available on some days half way through service, not enough teapots to go around) When the cooked breakfast did arrive, it was delicious.Tried a bar snack on one evening towards the end of service - just caught them before they left. The food in this instance was not impressive - how difficult is it to avoid burning Ciabatta ?Overall this estabilshement has got fantastic potential with such a great setting - just needs better organisation.
